  1. Useful stuff, many thanks all - and any further thoughts welcome of course!
  2. There was a very interesting thread recently on best tyres for an NX. Any thoughts on the CT? Has already done 20k and will likely need to do at least that again.
  3. There's no doubt my dealership has done all it reasonably can, given it is not an IT company! I'm less convinced by the Multimedia team. It's odd how when you phone the helpline they are always "in meetings" and then seem magically not to come back to you very quickly. Still, I'll give them time in the hope they're working on it! By the way, all fine so far today except for the bizarre requirement to have my phone's actual Personal Hotspot page displaying. Really odd, that, but may be more to do with Apple than Lexus.
  4. My Dealer did say, and I'm inclined to accept this, that the transfer from Lexus Portal to MyLexus is not complete. To be fair, they wanted to hear my experience to try to feed it back in. So I can only think another sudden drop (as in Malcolm's case) is a further example of this.
  5. So, can you explain exactly how it connected? There are essentially two options to connect the phone; and another two to connect the Hotspot. You can connect the phone either via "Telephone" or via "Bluetooth". In my case - MY17 & iPhone 6 (10.3.3) - I can only do former. Latter either does nothing, or goes "ID=195". You can then connect to the Hotspot either via Bluetooth or via WiFi. Again, I cannot do former for same reason as above. I can sort of do latter, but bizarrely only when the Personal Hotspot screen is specifically showing. My Dealer said he has the exact same issue (I didn't see which particular iPhone he has). In theory, once I'm connected that way, everything works. However, it's currently hit and miss. Sometimes the WiFi doesn't pick up the Hotspot; sometimes it does but nothing works anyway. Fundamentally, for some reason, what I cannot do is link the Hotspot via Bluetooth (which I could on my MY13 IS, albeit after software updates). How did either of you connect the phone in such a way that did this, can you recall?
  6. I thought it may be useful for all Forum members with or contemplating Premium Nav to outline my experiences with it over the past month - as I seem to have encountered most of the problems but also some of the solutions. Fundamentally, Premium Nav adds an Internet capacity to your satnav. This enables it to pick up traffic conditions (and offer alternative routes), note parking options in cities, allow online searches (which will provide phone numbers as well as navigations options) and send journeys from your phone/tablet/computer to your car in advance. (It adds a few more things too, like an advanced reverse camera and DVD player, but they're not relevant here. For the record, it also adds the capacity to save a journey to a USB and transfer this to the car that way.) The first thing is you need to register with MyLexus. Previously there was a Lexus Portal, but this has been replaced. However, the fact is there has been significant confusion over this. NOTE 1: Your sign-in name (an email address with MyLexus) is *not* your User ID. Your User ID by default will be the first part of your email address, but you are wise to change this as it may clash with others (or just cause confusion with past portal registrations). You change it my going to "My Details" and "Edit" and it is at the bottom. Once you have registered you need to register your Multimedia device. This is a 16-digit number (to be typed in without hyphens, even though they appear on the screen). I found it easier to do this online than in the car, though both are options. You also need to verify the vehicle. For this you need a six-figure number from your logbook (like ABC12D) - this is a chore when you lease because you need to get a scan from Lexus Financial Services or the lease company; and even more of a chore when they lose the logbook... NOTE 2: If you cannot get this number, ask your dealer for the one they use for demonstrators. That seems to work. Now the key is to connect to the Internet. This can be tough, at least with an iPhone. NOTE 3: You need to have tethering on on the phone (Apple calls this "Personal Hotspot"; other companies use slightly different names). In theory you can connect for tethering via Bluetooth or WiFi. For some reason I cannot do the former with my NX (worked fine on my IS). The latter is a bizarre hit and miss and seems to require not only that the Personal Hotspot be on, but that the specific page be open. Weird. NOTE 4: This is where I get a little lost... Via Setup > Navigation there is a Connected Services menu which allows "Delete Username and Password" or "Change Username and Password". If you try the latter, you need your *User ID* (not the email address) and password. It may be worth keeping these short! You then click "Save" and that should simply save it - but if you are unlucky, it will go to connecting and a lovely error message. This means your tethering has broken down, your password is wrong, you've forgotten your User ID, MyLexus does not feel like working, or you've the wrong colour socks on today... If you get through this, try your luck with an Online Search on "Navigation > Destination". Here, you will go to "Connecting" but hopefully not for long. If you do, the above paragraph applies. If you don't, you're in business. NOTE 5: My success rate in currently about one in four... ALL TIPS WELCOME! :)
  7. I'll post on the General Forum about where I am because I think I've encountered many of the issues people face (and I suspect many give up). Fundamentally, in the end, I got round it by connecting to the Personal Hotspot *via WiFi* rather than bluetooth - though even that didn't work first time (as I had to move somewhere without interference from other Internet providers). I should note, to be fair, that this was at the Dealer's suggestion - so plaudits to Lexus Belfast.
  8. Yes, to be clear: the iPhone is connected with the Personal Hotspot and Mobile Roaming turned on. It works in every sense - music (even from YouTube), battery etc. What I do not get is the blue band to indicate it is tethering. I get this when connecting the phone (attached).
  9. Well, it worked on my last car! I don't see why they would now be different.
  10. I'm back having a very similar problem on my new car. Can use Connected Services via a direct Internet connection (in my own driveway, for example), but cannot now get the blue bar on my iPhone to indicate it is connected for tethering.
  11. Just to come back on this one, I cannot get my iPhone to appear as an Internet connection in my new NX. Personal Hotspot is on, Roaming is on, it works correctly with an iPad but the car does not pick it up. When I connect it via Bluetooth it says not all device profiles are supported. Yet it worked fine (within reason) on my IS. Odd.
  12. I can't help but think this is an issue. That stays "connecting". If I go via Bluetooth rather than Telephone, it then says "Unable to connect all device profiles". I do *not* get the usual blue band across the top of the phone to indicate it is connected (whereas I do when I connect my iPad to it).
  13. It's a bit off-topic but they do generally offer a courtesy car. TBH I often refuse it in favour of a lift (saves parking etc), and you do need to bring insurance documents etc.
  14. Tell me more about that! I thought I did. I have an iPhone 6S, Personal Hotspot is on, Lexus (the car) is linked to it with music playing by Bluetooth, contacts saved and so on.
  15. Just one thing I notice, btw, is it doesn't matter whether I type in my username or password correctly or not - it still registers an ID=195 error.
  16. Thanks for those. For the new MyLexus you need the first half of a long number on the logbook (typically "ABC123D" of similar) in order to verify the vehicle. I was given an alternative, shorter number which appears to have been accepted (my profile is now 100% rather than 87%). My password is definitely all letters and lower case - I am entering it exactly that way. Is that correct? The phone is definitely connected to the car (Bluetooth is fine and names do transfer, etc). Whether it's connected to the Internet is debatable - it seems to be; I've tried both with WiFi turned on and off (and indeed I can play music over YouTube).
  17. Lexus still has not been able to locate my logbook so I was given another number today with which to verify my vehicle. From the MyLexus point of view, this appears to have worked. The car is deemed verified; it says it is connected to the multimedia; and I can send journeys to the car. Unfortunately once I get to the car it's another matter. Any attempt by any means of typing in my Lexus ID and password is met by a could not connect message, "ID=195". This has come up before on these forums but I reckon I am doing everything advised. Any further thoughts?
  18. I'm actually a little surprised there are any cars with "regular cruise" which do *not* increase speed when going down a hill. Regular cruise control only affects the "accelerator" (at least in its original form), so it is inevitable that on steep hills speed will increase if you do not hit the brake. On my IS300h Lux, certainly speed increased on hills; notably one which was a 30 zone going sharply downhill (even with cruise on this went up to 40); and another a steep motorway incline where 70 soon became 80. It is actually helpful to turn the system off. It may be possible that some new models have regular cruise which also affects the brake. The adaptive cruise control I now have in the NX does (so, on the aforementioned slopes, speed is more or less maintained). (See a post I put up about a week ago on what cruise actually is.)
  19. Probably worth throwing in here that the NX is actually shorter than even the IS (4630mm), but wider (1845).
  20. It really is subjective. I put the car in Eco about 700 miles ago as a trial and haven't moved it back out aside from to overtake; what that tells you is I don't care about acceleration (actually I often let the adaptive cruise do that for me). So what works for me in terms of expectation may not work for everyone. But then it may!
  21. Yes, my headlights are LED. Actually their staggered design is markedly distinct.
  22. Denis et al, As noted above, if your car came with the constant reverse beeps (standard in UK), simply take it to the dealer and they will switch it to a single beep upon engaging reverse gear. That's what my wife has done.
  23. It's on a lease, so I am at the mercy of the dealer who is at the mercy of Lexus Financial Services (who are perhaps at the mercy of the DVLA). I think after a month I'll lose my patience, though!
  24. To be fair, that's a good call for the fourth dislike! Don't know why "Set" couldn't just appear briefly elsewhere, rather than disturbing the info display. A mild irritation, but that's kind of the point here :)
