  1. For removing the cladding, and associated fixings and adhesive tape, see this thread: Hint: it's a bugger to get them all lined up! When you do it makes the long line of the vehicle pop. I've also recently purchased off eBay a set of new fixings etc for the cladding so I'd be happy to share the part numbers with you when I get it. Saves a bit of searching the Toyota EPC.
  2. Good news. PM me your address and I will send this to you. Took me a while to find a good one. Clearly an area where the LS400 gets scraped a lot, so I'll be bearing that in mind in future!
  3. I may have that LHS rear lower arch cladding. Not in the grey but easy to paint. Let me have a dig around the shed.
  4. "I brought it without an ECU in place, and it still doesn’t have one now, so I haven’t ever seen it running". Do you feel lucky, punk?😎
  5. Silicon really is useless stuff. I've had more luck sealing lights with butyl cord, and it doesn't leave a mess behind.
  6. Shouldn't happen unless the light unit is damaged or water is getting into the rubber boots around the wiring loom at the back.
  7. I've recently purchased a UCF21 Celsior with air suspension, replacing a 80k miles LS400. OK, I know I'll be up for an expensive bill at some point but wow, I'm sold. No diving on hard breaking, much less roll and wallow around corners than shocks/springs and of course the smoother ride on shocking London streets. I can fly around those corners at greater speed utilising the surprising amount of grip the car has as the car has a greater propensity to stay level than on steel springs. I priced up replacement OEM standard shocks/springs/spring seats/top mounts and it came to about £400 per corner, and the air shocks are £700, so I'll probably stick with air when the time comes for the sake of £1200. The enhancement to the ride and handling of the car is well worth it IMO, and the car is a keeper.
  8. I love the Soarer so it gets a lot of preventative maintenance. While it was opened up thought may as well do as much as possible. Import all my Toyota OEM stuff from Amayama. Great parts catalogue, great service and great prices.
  9. Cambelt on these is easy compared to the Toyota V8s. I had mine done and the VVTi solenoid, filter and cam gear and front seal and cam cover seals at the same time for a full 60k mile service. VVTi cam gear starts leaking after a while.
  10. Great cars. I have the 2.5 VVTi turbo in my Soarer and it is one of Toyota's best engines ever, IMO.
  11. Time for another update! I see that's a GTTL specification with the TEMS piezo electric shocks. Nice find.
  12. Gotta use Toyota techstream or equivalent. My Soarer has an OBDII port but it doesn't work. Generic code scanners are of fairly limited use for Toyota imports IME.
  13. Gone up £6000 since he bought it last week. The guy will never sell it for that money. I just bought a Celsior with 42k miles for a lot less than half that price.
  14. If it's like other Toyota ECUs you can't re-flash it with a new map. That's one where GM has it all over Toyota. Goodness knows what messing with the cats and O2 sensors would do on a hybrid system. Approach with caution.
  15. It's a breaker. If the body was mint it might be worth fixing it up but with obvious panel damage, no. Probably rough underneath, too.
  16. Thank you for the detailed posts about what you did. Good for future reference especially with details like part numbers. I can understand. The LS is not a great A road blaster. I use my Soarer for that.😎
  17. Yes. Much tidier inside than outside. Also have them on my Soarer. Top quality 1990s Toyota OEM.
  18. The high octane fuels have extra detergents over regular.
  19. I've found a minor oil leak from my cam cover gasket. Not acceptable after 20 years if you ask me. I'm going to buy a BMW next and grumble about VANOS failure.
  20. Frozen eccentric adjuster bolts, I would wager. I try and do them a favour and squirt plus gas on the bolts a few days before an alignment.
  21. Iv'e got an electric suction pump in the cupboard bought for engine oil use. Never used it, but this sounds like a good idea as I really don't like jacking up my LS400!
