  1. I've managed to remove all screws, including the arm rest one and all clips. However, I cannot for the life of me remove the door switch unit, and it is around this area that the panel seems to be still fastened. The switch/ashtray unit does not pop up like the front door one and I've broken it trying to do so. I can see no retainer clips or screws after removing the ashtray, as with the older models. Any ideas?
  2. And they don't even get to pull them apart and really see how well built they are!
  3. Hi Connor. I'm in London. There have been some issues with getting the right springs for the Mk IV LS400 and OEM are expensive. I spoke to some spring manufacturers down the road who said they would need to see the springs in question before saying if they could knock some up. They wouldn't talk price either... Anyway, that's the story behind it.
  4. Nice work. It's your ride so as long as it's all done safely everything is cool. Just nice to see someone spending time and money on it. Be interested to have a ride in that some time to see how the coilovers perform. Hold onto the old legs: I want to borrow a set of OEM springs and see if I can get some blokes down the road to copy them. Oh yeah, what condition were the upper mounts in? Pretty good, I bet.
  5. Shirish, I left instructions for the old parts to be retained but the guys binned them, annoyingly enough (first time they've done that, to be fair). I asked the mechanic what condition the links and bushes were in and he said fine with no breakdown of the rubbers and were Toyota parts so probably original (car has done 75k miles.). Here's to another twenty years on OEM components.
  6. Well done. Something so special about these old girls. They must be becoming collectable as Toyota has started to delete parts for them...
  7. New ARB drop links and bushes front and rear and the ride has improved quite a bit, with an annoying noise from the rear now gone. Doesn't roll around corners as much, too.
  8. And here's to it all fitting, which I'm sure it will. Will be interested if you note much change to ride quality.
  9. Sorry Bluesman, I posted up the wrong colour. It is amethyst. My memory does not serve me as well these days. Happy to split as the door card etc are in beautiful condition (although aren't they always in the rear?)
  10. Hope the mods don't mind me putting this in here. I have this door in excellent condition if someone wants to collect it from Croydon CR0. I have it all wrapped up in the garage so can't post a photo. I am giving it away as I got a wonderful deal from a great guy for two doors in the colour I needed and no longer need this one, so I'm sharing my good fortune. Edited to correct colour: amethyst, not jade green.
  11. Usual story with ordering from a British business: lack of attention to or obfuscation of detail and ignoring specificities, poor ordering systems, poor customer service . The lack of attention to detail outside of technical circles I suppose reflects the snobbishness that made polytechnics want to become universities, as if aspiring to the Oxbridge bastions of liberal arts education represented the ne plus ultra of higher education, with technical, manual and vocational training somehow a lesser matter. Poor customer service comes from an entrenched class system where people are very aware of their position in any exchange, whether that be business or personal (I learned long ago that it helps to make British salespeople feel better about themselves otherwise it's hard getting what you want.) Order from abroad for peace of mind. Brexit will reinforce parochial tendencies.
  12. Don't know about the home brew he made up but yes, with any older car it's prudent to periodically remove door panels, check vapour barriers and apply Dinitrol to the inside of the doors (being careful not to block drainage tubes.) Good chance to clean up window regulators and re-lubricate and to tighten nuts etc. Dinitrol comes with handy long applicators for the cans. However, treat the rust firstly. If you can see it on the outside there's a chance there is more on the inside of the door.
  13. Hmm, I'm going to dig some more. Seam sealant and underseal can hide rust pretty well, as I've been finding out on my wife's Celica.
  14. Thank you, Phil. I'd thought that it was partly due to costing building in the low turnover. It's been interesting to watch in respect of some of my older cars as the huge price for e,g. a door panel eventually doesnt matter as the cars fall into the hands of real enthusiasts. Then lots of trim becomes NLA very quickly! Sadly happening to even suspension control arms and other essentials.
  15. Lesson is: spend those hours checking and double-checking part numbers and diagrams. If you really want to spend money start ordering parts of interior trim...Can't believe the costs for bits of plastic.
  16. Really professional outfit to deal with.Great website and support. Good fridge magnets, too.
  17. Just checked-the customs invoice was for £115. I had to spend a good bit of time looking through their parts catalogue and double checking against ToyoDIY etc to make sure I got the right parts. An expensive habit, though...
  18. Ignore me. I live amongst the travesty of roads that is south London. I'd be putting smaller wheels than factory on to cope with the sinkholes.
  19. At that offset and wheel size if you don't get rubbing then just the usual tramlining, poor ride quality and increased wear on suspension components.
  20. den-i did a bulk order and customs and VAT added about £100 to a £400 total (including shipping). Basically, it worked out that I got everything for half price versus a dealer, with some items much lower than the dealer and even listed by the dealer as no longer available. Amayama dispatch and updates were superb (3 days from order to dispatch) however once it hit the UK it sat for 9 days customs and ParcelForce doing their bit.
