  1. hello, my brother took over my 2013 is300h. He's had the ML amplifier replaced twice, but the problem remains as an intermittent one. Turning off the ignition seems to provide a temporary fix, although this did not work for several consecutive days during one episode. On questioning, he admitted to not turning off the unit before turning off the ignition, and will see if this mitigates. Could anyone comment if this could be eg a capacitor someone within the power supply circuit? ie rather than being an amplifier problem? Thanks exLexus City driver
  2. the article was not written specifically for Lexus vehicles. I might attempt to contact another service centre(s) and run the scenario past each of them.
  3. Lexus Service took it for a drive, advising that the vibration was within tolerance. On doing a bit of my own research via this article , one is advised: Another common complaint for used hybrids is noise and pedal feel. Most two-mode hybrid vehicles, like the Prius, GM Two-Mode and Ford Escape, use a braking system that employs a high-speed electric motor/pump. Pump operation sometimes can be felt in the brake pedal as the system builds pressure. This is most noticeable to customers who start the vehicle with their foot on the brake pedal. I'll keep looking into it...
  4. not as yet. Haven't checked the tyre pressures for a while. I did notice the sensation just after I stopped at traffic lights and could hear the pump running then...think its going to have to be a service based solution
  5. Its only begun recently...someone in I think a GS300 had it and was advised to check their ABS sensors...I'll see what its like with the ABS off'
  6. Brake pads look OK...wondering if this could indicate a planetary gear or some other problem with the regenerative braking system. Vibration only lasts for less than a second and occurs at varying phases of the braking cycle... Warranty ends in July Any ideas on how to further investigate? L'city
  7. Hi...have located it. On my is300h the ambient air temperature sensor is located immediately under the upper horizontal frame of the 'chickenware' on the passenger side, below the front grille, as per the attached jpg. You'll see the sensor part is a 'stub' shape. You can reach it with a small pencil sized cleaner and water squirt bottle. It did not seem to be that dirty, but hopefully the clean has improved its sensitivity/accuracy Hope that helps!
  8. anyone know where this is located? I think mine needs a clean as the temp is lagging behind what the temperature actually is Lexusinthecity
  9. (cc of email to lexus support) Am reporting a problem with the *turn indicator* sound audibility, in certain situations. When the air conditioning fan is running at maximum, as has been the case with hot weather (> 40 degrees) over the last month, the turn indicator sounds are virtually inaudible. This is because the sound generated by the fan is quite loud and *drowns out* the indicator sound Can anything be done in relation to increasing the turn signal volume? Obviously I do not want to slow the fan in these situations. I find that I am needing to do repeated visual checks to ensure the turn indicator has not cancelled. This detracts from safety. 10. G'day Why do Lexus users have to remain locked into the proprietary software? Anyone interested in crowd funding a software hack? Not having the sports version, would love to have a digital speed readout on map display. Lexusinthecity
  11. well, the phone, which is a Nokia N8, when linked to the car is now refusing to answer calls or dial out. Was temporarily solved by a reinstallation /update of the N8's software (now the Australian Belle Refresh Version 111.040.1511), but its recurred this morning. Prior to the recurrence and phone software reinstallation, had previously paired the car with wife's phone and that phone worked. Planning to test a hypothesis that its caused by the 'Call history' entries exceeding what the Audio/Nav software was engineered to cope with. So have told the system NOT to sync call history. Regards
  12. Hi My dealer advised that a software update is available here in Australia, and should solve the problem. I would not let that put you off purchasing. ELECTRONICS CHAP, you would probably know about the BMW i3. Looks a bit on the quirky side, though. LexusInTheCity
  13. Hi Has anyone noticed that their boot panel vibrates, immediately after closing? The whole is300h boot panel vibrates, the vibration being most evident on the top (horizontal) surface area. I took delivery of an is300h 3 months ago, and its been noticeable from the beginning. The vibration can be minimised by appling continuous and steady pressure on the boot lip all the way to closing, but you shoudn't have to do this. I like to give the boot a good push, but not an excessively forceful push, and let if close. The vibration is something I might tolerate in an entry level car, but not in a luxury car. Mind you, I closed the boot of someone's Proton (made in Malaysia) recently, and even that closed solidly, like that of a German car. Has anyone else found this? Lexusinthecity
  14. Glad to be able to discuss this issue with other is300h owners. My display conked out on the freeway, 2 days ago. Required a stop/restart of the car...you could say 'reboot'. Symptoms =the 'home' and 'menu' buttons stopped responding, no nav display, 'energy display' was sporadic. Will report to the customer assist on Monday. Quite disappointing. Please excuse my phrasing - being antipodean based, we talk/write a little differently. Got another issue...will supply a separate post Lexusinthecity
