  1. Sorry i just realized i never updated this. The box worked really well, The lag was much improved, car was definatley quicker (but i doubt to the calimed 230bhp) and mpg was slightly better. 6th gear seamed more usable too.
  2. Go for the IS250 mate. I've just sold my IS220d after just 6 months as i was very unimpressed with the engine and gearbox. With petrol prices as they are in the UK i'd imagine it's no more expensive to run the IS250
  3. If i was in the UK i would have never bought the 220d, if i'm honest i'm not sure if i would have even gone for an is250 but i'm pleased i have experienced Lexus and hopefully it wont be my last. I can dream about an ISF :) I'd love a test drive of one! Not sure if i'd pay for one though haha :D There will be a white one in the Eastern Loire in July Pop over for a pint - Test drive first though :D
  4. Thanks guys. I'm sure the Leon will suit my needs, an IS250 would be great but very rare out here.
  5. So after just 6 months and 5000km of ownership I've said bye bye to my IS220d. It was a love hate relationship but I have definitely not been put off buying another Lexus - far from it, although I would certainly think twice about it being a diesel Lexus. Luckily I've lost next to nothing on the car and I've decided to go back to VAG and have bought a Leon TDI. I loved the looks, styling, features and in some ways the drive but I did not love the engine. If I was doing long distances/motorway miles I'm sure it would have been better but I don't. Diesel cars are the norm out here as petrol is more expensive than diesel but if I'm honest I made a mistake with this one. I cleaned the egr valve quite early into ownership and I checked it again after just 3000km and it was badly coked up again, this is with using an additive and premium diesel. Over the 6 months I only managed an average of 35mpg, with aircon I'd be closer to 30! I can't believe Lexus are allowed to quote such high figures when in real life it's so much lower. There are a lot of things I like about the car though so I guess I'd probably really like a IS250. I'll probably still pass by the forum now and again as I really like it, it's obviously a bit of an older environment (less immature) and people are very helpful and polite, unfortunately it can be a little quiet on here but this is probably due to Lexus being relatively rare on the UK roads. Thanks for all the help, and see you around!
  6. How long was it disconnected for? It needs to be disconected for more than a few hours, usually over night does it.
  7. Aircraft engineer eh, you must be good behind a computer screen then, do you get someone to load the cds for you? It's a Lexus not a RR
  8. Next time you have have it running could you see is IS220d is listed? Cheers
  9. I've just used hacked Techstream to reprogram a key to my car but not one that had been used on another car (as far as I know). The key came with the car so I assume it's the original spare, works now anyway. Which version are you using Mark?
  10. Never mind, I got it sorted. I used ver.7.20.041 It doesn't come up with the car make/model but finds it automatically as model code ALE and the vehicle spec for IS220d is 2ADFHV. The option has to be chosen yourself, I couldn't find which car was mine so had a look through all three to find the correct one for my car spec. I successfully linked my spare key to the car with this version, very easy to do as there are step by step instructions built in. There is a lot customisation available too, from interior light timings, wing mirror lights, warning chimes (volume and length), open and closing windows with key fob, change KM/litre into mpg etc etc. I turned off the automatic re-circulation feature when you turn the air con off as it annoys me. I hope this helps someone anyway as there is little or no information for IS220d owners on techstream so I was a little blind.
  11. Yeah, correct oil, premium diesel, decent additive and it still gets a lot of build up
