  1. yes it would suffice using the jump start tag , you do have to remember once you've disconnected the battery the positive cable will still be live due to powering from the under bonnet tag, so you'd have to insulate this connector so you wouldn't have a short in the boot area when you let go of the cable on removing the battery.
  2. i'm sure its in the overhead console for the lights in the front, i havent had an IS for a while now , i think when your making a call a menu becomes available to adjust the microphone volume.
  3. as malcolm said try carista, i've had carista for many years now its helped me get out of some tricky situations before you buy the elm327 adapter ask the seller if it works with carista as not all do the ones that normally work have 2 pcb's in them and not just 1. i've changed the window setting for the remote changed the reverse beep to one beep turned off the front seat belt dings cleared the popup bonnet failure message (paramedic rolled back into me) cleared hybrid errors (after swerving agressively to avoid being hit side on the message appeared) pre collision warnings (after swerving agressively to avoid being hit side on the message appeared) and its all very simple and user friendly.
  4. here is a company that can repair the amplifier for you https://svtservices.co.uk/lexus-mark-levinson-power-amp-repair-service/
  5. 2 weeks before xmas i purchased a new 12v battery for my mk4 300h, lexus parts direct ( lexus swindon) quoted £252 + £5 delivery my local dealership wanted £302 for the same battery.
  6. i havent received the letter yet but i did check using https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall and yes my mk4 66 plate gs has the recall ,will contact the dealer tomorrow to get booked in.
  7. you can use the silicone but only on the rubber seals to help the glass glide smoothly it will also help to stop the glass from freezing to the seal during the cold spells we are all having now.
  8. over recent years i havent had a lexus with the standard audio so the difference between the premium & the ML wont be as big when comparing to the standard audio system.
  9. happy new year to everyone on LOC just after lockdown ended i tested drove an Rc300h with the ML system fitted and a cd left in the car and to be honest i wasn't blown away with the sound of it
  10. hi you could contact this company https://www.hybridbatterysolutions.co.uk/ someone on here used them a few years ago and recommended them.
  11. hi herbie.... i do have a spare 12v battery that i have been carrying around with me over the last few days just in case i needed a power boost to get the car started. so nothing out of the normal regarding changing this battery then. thanks to everyone for their advice. lexus parts direct (lexus swindon) want £252.45 + £6 postage (minus discount for the trade) lexus rip off dealers want £252.45 + VAT so just under £303 from the rip off dealers.
  12. i'd taken a quick look in the handbook before i posted and i couldnt see anything about changing the battery. thanks peter
  13. Hi everyone i have purchased a new 12v battery for my gs300h today is there anything i need to do after fitting it, the guy at toyota where i collected the battery from mentioned having to calibrate the car by leaving the car idling for 20 minutes whilst in park ... is this correct or can i just swap it over. thanks in advance for any advise mark
  14. i use lexus breakdown through the AA and it will cover another vehicle that is at the same address as you, i think i paid £125 for a years cover so technically for 2 vehicles, also your the insured party not the car so if your in a friends car that broke down you'd be covered aswell.
  15. HI Dess i think it comes down to how comfortable you are changing the switch with the battery still connected , i have fitted cruise control on a auris hybrid without disconnecting the battery as i left the airbag cabling connected, leave connected or disconnect your the only one who can make that choice dess.
  16. for the struts i would go for 200N or adjustable struts https://www.strutsdepot.com/
  17. on my ex's Auris hybrid i fitted a set of bonnet lifters i had to make a bracket for one of the mountings but besides that it was straight forward here is a video of it fitted 20200822_151105.mp4
  18. you wont go far wrong buying the Is300h as long as youre buying from a lexus dealership with the service book fully stamped the car will be bullet proof, remember the hybrid system dates back to the prius and has evolved over the years so the system has been properly tried and tested over the decades , ask a taxi driver why they've chosen a toyota / lexus hybrid they will give you the confidence to make your purchase. i'm on my 4th lexus hybrid and wouldnt have any other car now i'm totally sold on the lexus brand.
