  1. My '93 LS400 lives in Southampton and needs a fairly local garage to perform some jobs the local Lexus dealer won't do - replace front and rear bushes Can any satisfied customer recommend a mechanic who knows the LS400? Although my local dealer seemed to indicate it is a simple procedure I am sure its not. Also I need some work on dash circuit board to get fuel gauge working - any ideas? Cheers
  2. I had this problem with my 93 LS400 - eventually had some work done at DS auto near Newbury (cant find website anymore so maybe no longer there) i was disappointed with 2 things after the job and it wasnt cheap - reostat and the fuel gauge no longer work ( subesequently found out it would have been an easy job to replace 2 resistors for the gauge) the lights however do work without cutting out or not coming on for about 20mins If anyone knows somewhere to have my 2 problems sorted I would be grateful
  3. I have looked at lexls.com which has been really helpful - but here in the UK who supplies the bushing kits? Also can anyone recommend a reliable mechanic in the South of England as I presume lexus dealers can only sell the whole component. I can definitely feel that the time is right to address the suspension as there is too much play in front ball joints and the smooth ride has deteriorated over the last 2 years. Big hello to the Black LS400 who passed me on the M27 and gave a friendly wave this morning
  4. Has anyone ever resolved a dodgy fuel gauge sender. I am certain its not the dash as I have had that recently done - but now I am starting to think it may not be the sender as the empty tank light works fine? The needle refuses to move past the 1/4 full mark even after an 80Litre fill-up! I think the gauge on the MkII is a non return type i.e. doesnt go back to zero when electrics/engine turned off. Any sensible thoughts gratefully received.
  5. Having driven 2,500 faultless miles in the last 2 weeks across Europe my Mk2 has started to suffer from the failing capacitor problem. The first indication was the failure of the fuel guage, then the failure of the dash lights on ignition. After about five minutes the four lights on the needles start flickering and then gradually the lights are restored, although the fuel guage remains on zero. I have checked the forums and it appears the only option is to send the board to the U.S.A for the $250 repair ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...tem=7913617257) Have any owners used this service? Surely there must be someone in the U.K who can offer a similar service? Any thoughts gratefully received.
  6. I recently had my LS400 '93 checked over by cool-runners.co.uk - it didnt require a converter(good news) but the system had hardly any gas because of a tiny leak (apparently you can lose up to 15% a year) The system was fully re-gassed and it is like an icebox now! well worth doing.
  7. I have a 93 LS400 Colour Astral Black - the lower half is a dark grey anybody know what the toyota name and code is? Will post piccies when she's nice and tidy.
  8. Good news i repaired the eject button ( superglue + spare plastic ) works perfectly and ejected the cassette first time. Not as hard as I thought it would be. Take care you dont lose the hair spring for the door, I had to glue a strip of plastic to replace the door catch which works well.
  9. LS400 '93 83,000 miles I am second owner fuel guage is starting to misbehave registers zero for a long while after starting then creeps to halfway I just cant trust it so I fill up whenever I can making me very nervous previous owner said it was a fuse! I dont think so - probably an electrical fault or even worse! Ayone else experience untrustworthy guage problems?
  10. I have same problem - it didnt take long to remove the changer from the boot. The eject button has two plastic lugs that operate the mechanism - they do not appear to be very robust as one has snapped off. The button jams or tends to drop in the casing. I am trying to locate a pioneer specialist to see if it worth trying to replace - I am reluctant to change the unit as it works perfectly and any replacement would not fit so neatly. Anybody recommend a specialist?
