  1. Premium Nav gen2 and ios11.2

Another reason not to upgrade to IOS 11. Apple have really lost the plot recently.
  2. Rear Screen Demister

Just use the windscreen button and be patient, turning up the heat is counter productive. https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/winter-driving/how-to-demist-your-windscreen-in-double-quick-time/
  3. Rear Screen Demister

May be damp in the boot. Found a design fault this week. Opened the boot with snow on the lid. Snow slid onto back window, then into the boot.
  4. Hi, welcome, nice looking car. I don't think the standard nav can be updated yourself. Personally I would not try and do it myself from something I bought on eBay. An embarrassing and expensive trip to the dealer if it goes wrong. I have not heard of people doing it themselves on the standard nav, premium nav yes but standard nav does not have a DVD or memory card. The dealer can update the firmware and may do it free of charge on a service but this does not update the maps. Hope that helps.
  5. Highest Mileage on IS300h

Good choice, welcome to the enlightened minority! The ride will be better on 16 inch wheels, do you get free road tax too? You may be able to fit parking sensors yourself and a tomtom (other models are available) will be better than the standard satnav. Pictures please.
  6. Highest Mileage on IS300h

Hi, I have heard a lot about high mileage Prius taxis etc. So don't think you should be to bothered about a high mileage car as long as it has been services properly. On a 100k mileage car the engine will have done less, say 90k miles and brake wear is less. If you intend to do lots of miles then a diesel is more economical At 70+ on the motorway you are not using battery power so using a 2.5 litre petrol engine to carry a heavy battery pack about. Hybrids are best on urban driving.
  7. SE-L spec vs SEspec ?

    From the may 2015 brochure.
  8. SE-L spec vs SEspec ?

Does the SE-L mean an SE with the Leather seats option?
  9. Keyless Entry

Are we really saying we're too lazy to press a button on the key fob when you want to open the rear doors first? I actually find it useful not to have keyless opening on the rear doors. I try the back doors to make sure the car is locked. Same on the wife's Jazz. Remember the days when the gentleman would use the keys to unlock the passenger door first so the lady could get in. Or am I just showing my age now!
  10. Dashcam

Not a discussion about which is best or how to fit. Why do people feel the need to have one, what benefit have they been? Have you used the evidence in an insurance claim or other prosecution? It seems to me that the people with dashcams are the ones you need a dashcam to protect yourself from! Discuss....
  11. Dashcam

Ok I see the point, not much you could do about that one. I wonder if they got caught. Still left with a damaged car and no one to claim against. Should she have got their details and not shown them the dash cam? Then passed it onto the police.
  12. Dashcam

Hi Jason, As advanced drivers we should be aware of what others are doing around us so we can take appropriate action. So is a dashcam useful, or is it insurance?
  13. Built-in TomTom satnav

Hi The built in tom tom is only available on the pre facelift CT advance model. The tom tom display is only for the sat nav. The advance model has a reversing camera and this shows up in the rear view mirror. When you select reverse the image appears on the left side of the mirror. This was the first car I had with reversing camera and although the position of the image is a bit unusual it worked. The advance also has fake leather (Tahara) upholstery. Quite a good specification for the money. It was only available in white, grey or black.
  14. CT200h and TomTom Live Services

I had a CT advance with the built in tom tom. It is basically a tom tom fixed to the dash. There is a memory card that stores the map data but to my knowledge no mobile SIM card. I did not use live services but could take the memory card out and update the maps on my computer via the tom tom web site. It has nothing to do with the Lexus portal. I remember there were live services like traffic info but not sure how it got the information. Is it from your phone via Bluetooth? The Pre facelift CT advance was the only model to use the built in tom tom. Which is a pity as it is better than the Lexus offering and you could change the voice to Wallace and Grommet! http://download.tomtom.com/open/manuals/Lexus_CT_MoveOn_NAVI/refman/Lexus%20MoveOn%20Navi_en-GB.pdf Have you got the manual? You need to subscribe via the tom tom web site to live services. The tom tom has nothing to do with the car computer. Its like a tom tom stuck to the windscreen with a remote control put on the centre console. It's called the Lexus MoveOn navi. A search should bring up more information. Hope that helps.
  15. Easy to take things for granted

The only bad thing about the e-cvt is the name. It should have been called the Planetary Drive Gear (PDG)! Mention CVT and you think of rubber bands and Daf Variomatic drive.
  16. Infinity

Just wondering what people's opinion of infinity cars are. Particularly the Q50 hybrid. How do they compare to the IS or GS. They seem expensive to buy new but take a big drop in the first year. They are probably quite expensive to insure, tax, run as it is a big engine and the IS is powerful enough for me to waft around in. Just thinking of options when it is time to replace the IS.
  17. NX Lux 6 months in…MUD anyone & MPG

How about a photo competition. With before and after pics of the muddiest NX.
  18. new pictures from the Lexus japan website

Interesting they are calling it a Hybrid that charges itself. A dig at plug in hybrids and EVs.
  19. Servicing Costs

I thought on a BMW the dipstick was behind the wheel. [emoji1]
  20. Easy to take things for granted

    Welcome to the enlightened minority.
  21. No But you can use the flappy paddles to select a lower "gear"
  22. Infinity

Don't like the NX styling. To fat at the back end and I prefer curves to sharp edges. As for taking the kids to uni. We use the wife's Jazz. Which has a much bigger boot and space in the rear then the IS. I'll stick with the IS for now. Thanks
  23. Infinity

Thanks for your opinions. Seems like they are not quite on par with Lexus and a bit expensive for a private buyer.
  24. Test drives.

Sounds like you have already bought it in your head as you are still persisting in having a test drive. The IS is not a sports car. If you want something to race around in and enjoy the performance the the eCVT is not for you. If you want to waft around in comfort then you will soon get used to the eCVT and enjoy its sublime smoothness.
  25. Dealer servicing courtesy car

Dealers should see curtesy cars as potential test drives and put you in the car they hope you would buy next.
