  1. Thanks Colin I did this today, i disconnected the pipes from heater matrix and joint them together and tried it again, no steam in vents obviously as heater matrix has no hot water in it but still same problem with coolant bubbling in radiator, Gurggling like crazy and then overflowing leading to coolant loss and thats when temp starts going higher. Vid below you can hear the noise of coolant gurggling in rad with bonnet closed lol.
  2. Thanks for your in depth response mate, will check for these pipes tomorrow, any ideas where they are top of engine towards the back?
  3. Hi Guys I have owned my lexus is200 since 2013 and was in use daily up until june 2018 where i have had it parked and just had it MOT'd yearly. While i was using it before 2018 every time i would turn off the car i would hear coolant gurggling noises from the radiator but never lost water or had no mixture in engine oil dept and it never over heated. Fast Forward to September 2020 as i went to get it mot'd i noticed it was doing the following and i have checked it again today and it is still doing the following : 1) Once car warms up after around 10 to 15 minutes, the vents inside car start pushing out Steam which fills up the cabin and windscreen like crazy as well as noise coming from behind the dash almost like water is being pushed through somewhere. (Video link - 2)Coolant in radiator gurggling like crazy, if i open cap it blows out steam and the water gushes out along with bubbles in the water. Due to all of this the coolant all leaks out of the overflow pipe and empties out which slowly starts raising temperature but I've never let the car over heat neither is oil or water mixed in the engine oil. Can anyone please advise where shall i start with this mess , iv gone from a perfectly working car to a mess just by parking it up lol.
  4. Update Thermostat has been fitted yet the radiator fans do not turn on, bubbling still within the radiator and behind the vents within the dash board where the heater core matrix is. So next step for me is to check if the fuses are working for the rad fans and to also flush the heater core matrix as it feelins like there is plenty of air or blockage within the matrix . Does anybody know the location of the rad fans? Also what mm is the diameter for the heater matrix pipes that carry the coolant as i need to buy the correct size hose pipes to connect onto the heater core and flush out the junk. Thankyou
  5. Right ive finally had it checked by a mechanic and according to him the thermostat is faulty and water is leaking from the overflow pipe , which means water isnt circulating as thermostat isnt opening which would explain no heat inside the cabin from vents, bubbling water and also the engine fans not turning on? Is this making sense to you? On monday i will collect a new thermostat and have it replaced hopefully does the job.
  6. Hi Chris Thankyou for your detailed feedback mate, In regards to bleed valve for the radiator or coolant where is it located on the is200? Also is it a safe bet to buy another radiator and heat exchanger and have coolant drained, rad and heat exchanger replaced and hopefully fix the problem? Khan
  7. Hi Guys I have searched and searched this forum but nobody has mentioned anything like this lol. I have a lexus is200 auto 1999 on LPG , ive owned it since 2013 and it ran beautifully before i parked it up in dec 2018 due to using another car. Before i parked it up in 2018 i remembered that the passenger side vents stopped blowing hot air and was cold air only while i got hot air at the driver side vents. Also radiator would make bubbling noises but never had a leak or over heating problem. Just had the car MOT'd last month and felt like using this as its a auto and on lpg so cheap to run. Couple problems highlighted : 1) Radiator bubbling, white small bubbles in radiator once engine starts warming up, coolant reservoir good to go. With the cap off the radiator and engine warm alot of steam comes out of the cap, once cap is closed the bubbling gets really loud almost as if someone is hitting the RAD with a wooden stick. 2) No hot air blowing through any of the vents inside the car even with the engine warm and air con temp up. 3) When i do turn on the vents when the engine is warm in side the car all i see is STEAM, yes STEAM pouring in from all the vents and all the windows steam up like mad. 4) I have driven the car with aircon/heating off except the bubbling in the radiator no problems even with car at warm temp, ive also driven car with engine temp warm and vents open and the car steams up inside and the car leaks all the coolant and i cant seem to see the leak from the engine bay but the water drops from near the inside of driver side tyre if that makes sense What i have done so far : I park on a steep hill facing upwards, removed both rad and reservoir caps, turning on heating on low fan high temp and let it run for 30 mins while pressing the rad pipes and occasional rev, still the same problem occurs. Any of you experience guys and gals give me any pointers about what it could be (also car has never over heated to red if that helps) Thanks guys
  8. the misfire is definately on the petrol too, so what can cause a misfire on petrol that would also cause it on lpg, what is used on both fuel systems ?? i assume the petrol injectors are not in use when on lpg as lpg injectors are used but i could be wrong?
  9. Not sure buddy, just the code coming up as p0420 which on google says something about the cat?
  10. Hi colin after swapping coils over to new ones the codes come back, the p0420 code is pending and the p0302, p0303 and p0305 are back which is making me feel like it could be the injectors as definately it isnt the plugs or coils. although now the car has a stuttering misfire, revs bounce between 500 and 750 every few seconds :( and the misfire gets worse on lpg but the misfire is still present on petrol so it isnt the lpg system.
  11. Hi guys have been getting misfire with engine light and trc light flashing, having changed spark plugs and also coil packs, makes lights vanish for few days, change coil packs around, error still comes back on same cylinder after a few days? P0302 CYLINDER NUMBER 2 p0420 which i believe is the cat (but which cat as they have pre cats too dont they?) symptoms, idle gets rough, exhaust has alot of gas coming up cat makes a rattling noise too on idle car starts juddering , loss of slight power engine lights flashing and if i dont remove code for more then few days then p0303 and p0305 which is cylinders 3 and 5 light up too but always p0302 and p0420 come up first. the car is also on lpg if that helps. i have read that when the cats are damaged or blocked it can cause misfire symptoms but want to know your views. what do you guys think this is being caused by?
  12. thanks for your reply Colin. I would assume the same as changing coil packs, spark plugs, rocker cover gasket and spark plug gaskets hasn't changed a thing. I think its better to just change the whole rail and all 6 cylinders right? would buying them brand new be important or can i pick some up from a spare parts supplier until they are fully working?
  13. Hi ive had a misfire on cylinder 2 for sometime now, starts on cylinder 2, then shows up on multiple cylinders as p0300. I have changed the coil packs, moved them around, still comes up as cylinder 2, had spark plugs changed, had rocker cover gasket and spark plug seals changed, still no didnt stop the misfire, Ive had the codes read again today, came up as cylinder 2. Question is if i have changed all the above and still didnt cure the misfire, then what else could it be that needs changing? also just to confirm which cylinder is number 2 on the lexus is200 in the uk? thanks
  14. thankyou for that buddy, i will give it a try but i have a feeling ill be giving it to the garage to do as im kind of nervous about taking the rocker apart lol also ive emailed that seller and he sent me a snapshot of the oe toyota part numbers for these spark plug seals which is 11193-70010, ive searched that on ebay and loads more came up for lexus is200 so it should be the correct part for my lexus is200 :)
  15. if there is a diy guide for this or a video i could follow it as i do have some mechanical experience, but without that i feel i might mess it up lol. so this is the correct part, its in bulgaria so need to make sure this is the one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-TOYOTA-SPARK-PLUG-TUBE-SEAL-SETX6-LEXUS-IS200-IS250-GS300-RX300-RX400-/112445361069?hash=item1a2e440bad:g:5oAAAOSwN6JY9bDp thanks
  16. yeay, so basically what your saying is oil is leaking from the top, and the link you put up thats what i need to add to the lexus to stop leaking? also how hard or easy is it to it those seals, could i do it myself or is it a garage job?
  17. the car has been parked up on the drive for around a month now as im driving something else atm, but to answer your questions 1) all the spark plug is covered in oil from top to bottom (see pic although i must say its about 3 or 4 plugs out of the 6) 2) I didnt replace the seals you have put in link, i replaced rocker cover gasket which goes around the side of the head? does this mean i need to replace the seals which you have shown in link too? 3)I havent seen any nasty smoke coming out except when i changed the spark plugs and it smoked like hell for like 40 mins or so. 4)no sign of oil in coolant 5) The motor uses some more oil then usual, normally top up half a litre every 4 to 6 weeks. hope this helps
  18. hi john the whole plug has oil around it. so from the top to the bottom gap end
  19. Hi my is200 se 1999 on lpg has had oil on spark plugs with misfire on 2 and 4 cylinders for a while, was told its the rocker cover gasket seal so had that replaced last week but the misfire came back and today i changed the two coil packs on 2 and 4 but the spark plugs were still soaked so most likeley thats were the misfire is, what else needs replacing for the oil to stop leaking all over spark plugs? thanks guys
  20. thankyou for your help bro, i have a garage i trust but i need to wait few more weeks because my second car is being fixed atm, once thats on the road i can put this baby in the garage. appreciate all the help lads, will update you if theres any more problems or solutions. :)
  21. so break it down for me, on the is200 engine, what would or might need replacing to stop oil from leaking onto spark plugs? stem seals spark plug gaskets or rocker cover gasket?
