  1. I am working on the principle hope of wishing for a goodie bag and that someone at LEXUS might read the post and consider it to be a worthy idea and suggest same to the dealer network, OK I agree a little forlorn but worth a go !!:-)
  2. My recall letter came today, all excited was I , !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was for the 220 I sold two months ago, still waiting on my F sport letter !! I suppose I will have to wait for my free valet and goody bag a little longer from Listers Lincoln, not forgetting fuel !
  3. Agree with Linas.p on this one, I stopped buying Ultra at every fill and now only one in 4 tank fills. I do add Normfest CT100 for our petrol and CT60 for the F Sport at every 4th fill. Worked well on the 220 and seems to keep the F Sport cleaner as well. That a bit of a motorway cruise every so often!! The whole EGR subject and how best to stay clean and trouble free is a wee bit contentious so as a non expert this is what works for me :-) Always happy to hear other views and advice though, since there is always a better suggestion lurking ! Not tried Terraclean but its well reported and recommended by many.
  4. Hi Matt, welcome to LOC, I did get the oil changed on my 220d by a non Lexus dealer using the OE oil. Didn't seem to make any difference to the drive . My 220D had 105k and there was a little idler gear chatter on idle but not much when cold. Same reaction from my Lexus dealer when I bought my F Sport, said absolutely not, its lot leaking either but did check the level. A ok. Rattles on the o/s door ? Neither of mine have but this site has some very knowledgeable owners and sure someone will advise you. Stereo wise , mine plays all sources well so maybe its a quirk of the mobile ? Someone here will have had the issue but not me. Good luck with your 250, enjoy.
  5. New Lexus IS Leather Gear Stick Shift Knob Screw On Type Manual Transmission, £40 INC POSTAGE FROM Item location: Klaipėda, Lithuania,
  6. I am no expert , but, seems like a big task even for the very talented among us . Agree with LINAS, a lot of techy issues and trim. Lots of questions rather than answers but an interesting project non the less!
  7. Firstly let me say this is NOT my find but was posted by another LOC member madasahatteryesterday. Seems to be very much aimed at the 2007 to 2010 models and may have some value to your search for upgraded head lamps. Agree with Linas.P and his review, not sure about the motor resolution, never had the issue with my reviose 2007 220d ? This upgrade would seem a good way forward
  8. Give the EGR a clean, Brake cleaner is fairly cheap and moves a lot of the carbon build up but a wee bit messy but you may be able to recover it pre spend on a new one. Worth a go as nothing lost since it all has to come apart to replace or clean. Manifold and pipework need a clean and lets hope that gets you back to 100% without the need for new parts, anyway good luck and look forward to your next post.
  9. Hi Matthew, lots of possibilities with that sort of report. Try all the simple and obvious first as long as your sure that you're not about to suffer a major failure of some sort ! Air filter , EGR valve and its associated pipes, add some good quality diesel fuel, ULTRA or like and add some injector cleaner. All lightweight befor you start anything costly. Check the hoses and pipework for splits/holes around the turbo. Your in the right place for advice as the members are very good having had similar issues historically. Sure that there will be a tech thats got a good suggestion,
  10. They want 20k for the IS 300, stay as I am I think ! I will get something from them re the battery, oh yes :-) !!
  11. Agreed,I will be happy with a contribution as I dont have to drive there and argue/debate again and waste half a day ,so a discount off the next service will do fine, its a moral victory as I have won all, the others :-) Funny thing, the sale manager rang me today , wanted to buy the F Sport back at £1000 more than I paid and had an IS 300 Hybrid I was looking at when I was there last, bless they never give in :-) Be happy with this one for now, give it 18 months and I may be interested :-)
  12. A financial contribution at best is what I am going for and to be honest 68 mile round trips and half days in their showroom after 7 visits already in 8 weeks is getting to be a pain ! Might get something, or at least a discount of the next service, see what they offer ! I'm just happy to be at the end of the trail now and the F Sports all in great order to be enjoyed so £90 is small change in the great scheme of things. Its all good now :-)
  13. Some of my other posts will have been read by other members regarding the issues I have experienced sorting out some of the minor service issues and esthetics inc paint and wheel rims. I have been fortunate to negotiate with the dealer to resolve all of these issues detailed in another thread. One element of the vehicle that I was very suspicious about was the condition of the battery and this being the O.E Japanese battery from 2012. I was assured that this had been load tested !! After six weeks I had noticed the vehicle struggling to cold start so I decided to make my own tests. This was carried out and after simulated max current load for 30 seconds to simulate extended cranking, the battery voltage dropped to 11.28V, max current delivered on load was well below the 680CCA supposedly available on the old batteries specs. So I took advantage of a very good offer from EuroCar Parts last week, 50% and free carriage on batteries. Decided on a Bosch/Varta 12v 95AH 830-CCA, 4 year warranty. The new Bosch battery is now installed, what a massive difference , decidedly quicker starting, reducing cranking, The increased "CCA" over standard will be good to have in reserve in cold wather. The old battery is very interesting, the case is distorted at both ends as are the sides, all Bulging. The electrolyte is discoloured and when measured (not under load), post charging, its showing 12.02V. Indicating I think that its generally past its best !! I have also tested the alternator and its functioning well. Looking forward to Mondays chat already. Not what you would expect from a car from a Lexus dealer ! I know its only a battery but I do have a bee in my bonnet now with the dealer given all the other issues, least the cars top notch now :-)
  14. Generally agree with everyone's comments. I think the dealer has either forgotten to carry this out on TechStream or has decided to just not bother ! Unsure which one but thanks to all for confirming what I believed to factual that the option was available. Just about to post another subject in this forum Battery and my ongoing debate with the supplying Lexus dealer !!!!!!!!!
  15. I took my car in for a list of issues and the lexus dealer service manager suggested that this fob operated closure/opening of all four windows on my 2012 Is200D F Sport may not be in the set up any longer ? Can anyone offer any advice as to their similar aged identical model please. I find this very hard to believe since this was going to be a free and gratis menu change I am wondering if this is a "smoke screen" !!!!! My 220D's had the option and other models I am aware also have the ability ?
  16. In reply to Shahpor, attached are photos of the car . Bit grainy but it is pouring here ! Dealer has done a great job re paint, new wheels and list of other warranty issues.
  17. http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk/ This was the company that Lexus appear to favour for the warranty replacement programme I am told. They did a great job on mine and seem to have an excellent reputation but I am by no means an expert , mine just look very good and Lexus had them exchanged for me. Your wheels sound very expensive and I hope that Lexus will stand up and be counted for yours as well, perhaps there is an exchange route for your specific rim with Pristine ?
  18. Soon as the rain stops I'll drop some onto the page
  19. Thanks for your comments JumboJake, its a sad situation when a dealer group representing the prestige brand we are all incredibly enthusiastic about will poorly present a vehicle on its Lexus approved list and a three year Lexus warranty. The best result was achieved through negotiation and debating the issues, the dealer principal accepted the issues raised and dealt with them all professionally. The purpose of my post is to encourage LOC members to stand up for their consumer rights and get the best for their hard earned money. Not all dealers are lax, some are brilliant, some just need a wake up much like Lexus HQ.
  20. Hi Shahpor, yes from a Lexus dealer within the last 5 weeks. It was worth the consistent contact with Lexus and the dealer but to be fair to all parties they did the honourable thing and owned the issue. Car looks great on its new rims!
  21. Good news is that Lexus and the dealer have agreed to change the wheels under warranty with "Pristine" refurbished rims.
  22. I have just collected my IS200D F Sport from the LEXUS dealer post warranty issues yesterday. There were several issues I had raised and I did have to have a meeting with the center principal and the service manager to get a satisfactory result regarding the issues I had raised after owning the vehicle for 7 days! Initially I wrote to Lexus and they refused to assist re the alloy wheel corrosion emanating from the wheel centers. After some debate Lexus & the dealer decided to replace the rims with refurbished "Pristine" branded rims. There were some paint issues on the bonnet, lacquer lifting. Repainted now and very well done/matched and at least some of the minor gravel rash has also now gone . Windscreen had been replaced sometime in the cars past and had been fitted out of square in the frame, it was not tinted nor acoustic, Replaced now with correct screen. Also the two screen pillar trims have been replaced as the clips were broken! Car had been dealer serviced/MOT'd just prior to my collection, Missed the air cleaner and cabin air filter as they were in a shocking state ! I replaced them but dealer contributed. This may seem pedantic, but, I thought it would be nice if the tyre valve caps were all the same, car arrived with two metal chrome, one plastic and one black metal. Replaced, by me! The dealer loaned us a CT200 Sport for a week and has honoured the agreement and met expectations right down to a full valet. In essence Lexus and the dealer have redeemed themselves ,even if I did have to drive 200 miles in three round trips to get it all sorted. Attention to detail on used vehicle preparation was the key factor here. Interested to hear how other members may have experienced similar issues and how their dealers/Lexus responded.
