  1. Hello , We spent hours trying to get the software to connect with the 220D, even the very helpful T.S supplier tried, in the end we gave up. We are now in the process of selling the 220D as a local garage has done the forced regen. Hopefully all is well now and MIL lights are out. I am aware that lots of owners have been successful with T.S , perhaps our tablets and laptops were not up to it , either 32 or 64 bit versions ? Keen to see how members get on though.
  2. Back when we had more simplistic vehicles, I was a Tech (1970 to 1980), we were always taught to start at the furthest bleed valve from the servo / reservoir. I agree that with dual line systems and all the safety features existing it may not be massively detrimental ,but always keep the reservoir topped up, air is the system is not desirable! Take your time if you're doing the job solo and check and check again that you are using the appropriate DOT ? Fluid for your your vehicle. Its been a while , happy to hear more uptodate advice myself from the more experienced modern techs.
  3. Phil, Lexus Lincoln is a Listers company, They have three Lexus dealerships in group. Sadly not able to give me any indication of when I can get my recall airbag dealt with.
  4. I have just bought my IS220D F Sport last week and really love it. Despite the lack of an airbag replacement :-) This will be my last diesel, two years and retire to a CT200 Hybrid I guess. I shall always stick with Lexus as the brand is excellent. The airbag issue is a major worry long term, it's such an enormous volume of replacements required worldwide ! This may take a while to resolve and its already being going on far too long ! Rather like the IS250 peachy, lovely drive
  5. I was a Lexus Lincoln for a minor warranty issue on my F sport and asked about the outstanding air bag recall for my 220d and my 200d, no parts and no estimated delivery as yet ! 220D Is now for sale so will have to pass on that good news when its sold !
  6. I do sympathise, I also have a 220D, its waiting to be sold as I now have a 200D F Sport but I cannot sell it as the EML / VSC light is on and ot appears to be the DPF ! Hoping to find a cheap solution, if there is such a thing !
  7. Hi, I do not have any answers for you other than I by coincidence had just read this link on this site which may be of some help ?
  8. Agreed, despite my use of aftermarket parts in the past, I will feel obliged to fit OE now as the car has two years Lexus warranty so I better had , just in case ! :-)
  9. Acknowledge the wear issue but a 7k pa max its not an issue and it was an overall cost wet weather performance balance . I will rotate out of this car in 24 months to a 2016 version so it should be ok -) Heard and read good things about the Uniroyals though so will be on my shopping list next time round
  10. The quote is in italics direct from an email they sent me on Friday so the cost is correct at £34 94
  11. Thanks to everyone who gave me their thoughts, I am most grateful. I have settled on a mid range tyre for best value to performance regarding the 7k pa I travel. TOYO Proxis T1 Sport as "B" wet weather performance and good reviews on all the sites I visited. All four corners for £293 inc fitting. + Tracking front and rear £40 inc vat. The frnts at 225/40 were reasonable the 255/40 rears were a bit more money but overall good deal and a happy balance compared to budgets with poorer reviews generally. Thanks again for all advice, appreciated.
  12. Only ever used aftermarket MANN , Fram or Crossland, always seemed cheap at £11 to £13 and have worked well., I did get a price for a genuine OE Cabin Air and Engine Air filter from Lexus store on line via ebay, this is run by Lexus dealer in Birmingham, "The total price for the air and pollen filter would be £34.94 inc VAT.We do keep them in stock so if you would like to order them please advise and I can arrange this for you." Inc Postage !
  13. Thankyou for your comments and keenly taken on board. Living in the countryside, no motorways in our country, I don't do a lot of miles any longer ! I know I should have bought a newer petrol, but I do love my diesels :-). The tyres are somewhat subjective , 5k pa is all I do now but coming to the end of my service so mileage may go up again so hence the request for members opinions on tyres. Cost is always a factor but so is safety and performance of course. Lots of thinking to do before I get the debit card out :-) Might dnd up in midd range and will post an update later. Thanks again
  14. Thanks to Linas.P & normski2 for you reply and thoughts. I looked at a whole raft of tyres, the 255/40/18 being the one thats a bit more restrictive regarding availability. My Son has just fitted Coopers to his CT and they are at first light very good in all conditions ! No 255's though so I looked at budgets first since I drive slowly these days! Accelera phi tyres seem good value but mixed reviews. Looking at main stream again. Great idea to get the front and rear geometry checked when I do get tyres fitted. Update to follow and thanks for the advice so far, greatly appreciated.
  15. I have recently changed my 220D for a much newer IS 200D F Sport, it has 225/40 R18 Front & 255/40 R18 Rear Tyres. The tyres are at 4.5mm and I will be wanting a change at 3mm ! Has anyone any good advice and experience re brand and what's good value to performance ratio ? Appreciate some view please based on actual experience. I have done some research and the minefield or reviews are astonishing between top of the line to budget. Not wanting to be a cheapskate just trying to find a happy balance !
  16. I have taken the plunge and changed my IS220D  07 plate for an IS200D F Sport . I was going to wait 18 months till I retire but what the heck, life's too short and I spotted the one I wanted at the Local Lexus dealer.  Cant wait to collect it next week having paid the holding deposit whilst they get it serviced and MOT. I do hope the Lexus 24 moth warranty is worth its weight !!  Just in case . :-)

  17. Hi, wonder if anyone has tested the new version ( available via ebay) of TechStream 64bit? I am about to buy the same and just wanted to know it runs satisfactorily and what your thoughts are ? I have a 220D with the usual EML lights on , even post EGR cleans so want to try to diagnose the issues without giving a king's ransom to a dealer ! Thanks Ian
  18. Andrew, have you successfully tested out the ebay version of TechStream 64bit? I am about to buy the same and just wanted to know it runs satisfactorily and what your thoughts are ? I have a 220D with the usual EML lights on , even post EGR cleans so want to try to diagnose the issues without giving a king's ransom to a dealer ! Thanks Ian
  19. I had a letter for the airbag recall in Late July 16, still waiting re parts and no update from Lexus Lincoln !
  20. Hi Duncan, Never washed the Cabin filter in my car. Not designed for that, but, cheap as chips, EuroCar Parts, Ebay & Carparts4less to name a few. Be very careful regarding removal/installation, good YouTube vids to watch first !!
  21. Had my letter today, guess will have to wait for the call into the dealer for repair at some point ?
  22. I am using what was on the car from new by tyre brand and size, Bridgestone Turanza. Also stuck with the Lexus recommended pressures at 35/38 cold. Seems to work for me but then I don't hurry anywhere :-) Sure there are lots of owners with varying experiences.
  23. Step 3: Confirmation We have identified that your Lexus is subject to a voluntary customer service campaign or outstanding safety recall. This can be rectified at no cost, by contacting your local Lexus Centre or call us on 0845 129 5473 to arrange a time at your convenience. The recall check does not tell you what the nature of the recall is though, hence my email to Lexus rather than the phone call :-)
  24. Being inquisitive I emailed customer services at Lexus, Hope that they do contribute for fuel as its a 60+ mile round trip and I wonder how long the fix takes to complete ? Wife will be thrilled, it's a days shopping in the city ! Their reply below regarding the recall : Dear Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any anxiety that has been caused as a result of the news of this campaign. I can confirm that your vehicle is subject to a recall in relation to the Passenger Front Airbag Toyota is currently preparing the remedy for this condition. Once preparations are complete and remedy parts have been produced in sufficient quantities, Toyota will send an owner notification letter by first class post to formally notify the vehicle owners of the recall. The letter will advise owners to make an appointment at their local dealer to have the necessary work undertaken and you will, therefore, receive this within the near future.
