Interestingly dealer has now dropped the price of the car by £500. Should have offered a better part-ex shouldn't he? Idiot.

True, that's the trouble with looking for something a bit different - they're few and far between. I've more or less exhausted the ones that could be classed as 'local' now and will need to look further afield.

Just back from having a look, lovely car but dealer disinterested and gave silly part ex value so I won't be buying that one. Car on forecourt for £500 less than AutoTrader so he's obviously been stuck with it for a while. Idiot. Buying cars is such a pleasure isn't it? ...

LOL :) Oh well, let's see how it pans out this afternoon and what sort of deal I can negotiate!

Is the Nav worth it in your opinion? My main reason for wanting a car with it is that IMHO it makes the interior of the car a bit nicer. The non-nav versions aren't particularly attractive to look at - but it's not a deal breaker. Leather on the other hand is a must!

*Rubs chins* Going to look at a nice black 250 SE with Nav later today. 08 plate Auto with 43k - dealer wants a little bit too much money for it IMHO (£9500) but we'll see how keen he is to sell it when I get there eh? What lunatic in their right mind would buy a V6 petrol engine these days ...

38MPG at 75mph? That's not bad at all. I'm a bit of an old man and quite happy to pootle along at 65-70 on that long fortnightly trip. 40mpg sounds feasible to me on a run? I do very little 'town' driving and could live with 35 ish around town. I had a V6 MKII TT before the Abarth, so I'm well used to big-engined cars that give cr*ppy MPG - even that used to nudge 40mpg on a run and 30+ round town. Hmmm, now I'm really torn between a 250 and a 220 ... Read a lot about the 220D and seems I could be asking for trouble if I end up with a 'bad one' (Do correct me if that's not the case!)

Thanks, it's at an indy dealer and has full Lexus SH. It really nice condition, dark grey with light grey leather. Definitely pondering it. At that mileage I can put plenty on and not worry, slightly older than I wanted (08) but not much. Just that MPG worry. Hmm :-\

Went and looked at a really nice non-nav IS250 SE today 57 with only 29k. Nicer than I expected but I have a niggling douby about it's economy. Tank average of 26.1mpg on the computer and Average of 27.1mpg on the odo - albeit not reset so not sure how/where driven previously ...

Hi guys! Having looked at the competition - C-Class, 3 Series etc I'm seriously considering an IS as an alternative based on the fact it seems to represent excellent value for money. I'm currently in an Abarth 500 which is a horror to live with on a daily basis, particularly now my main mileage is motorway - around 10k a year - with a long 320 mile round trip once a fortnight. So basically I need something bigger, comfy and reasonably economical - the Abarth will do about 50mpg on the motorway - where it really matters about MPG. Done a lot of reading, read a lot of reviews and am now torn between the 220D and 250. What should I go for given the above? If I'll see 40+ on the Motorway from the 250 - it's a serious, and preferable option, I'm no fan of Diesels, but needs must with that fortnightly trip. What other things should I look out for. I want leather, that's non negotiable and have a budget of around £8500-10k. Due to the miles I'll be putting on, I want a car with no more than 40k and no older than a 2008 really and I know that's easily achievable with that budget. If I get on with it I will probably run it for another 30k before changing. But what about the other stuff like Satnav - is it worth it? There are plenty out there I know but where to start? Thank you in advance!
