  1. Well, my purchase of a 53 reg 2nd Gen rx300 had one working and one duff key. The duff one did the locks only, and would not cancel the alarm if the car was locked by the other remote. To get the 2nd key working: 1. Tried new battery - same result. Light was already blinking when buttons pressed with old battery. 2. Order the Smart Key Maker from ebay. Did the trick - using the simple technique on another forum of just putting key in, plugging in device into port, turn on, take out, put new key in. Or some combination to that effect. Can dig out the reference if need be. This allowed the car to start with the key, and other key still worked. Success! Remote buttons still don't work. 3. Try the on/door open/close/open/close/key out/in trick, followed by the 'add key' option, and holding the remote lock/unlock buttons. Again, I can find the instructions if you need it. Took loads of tries, turns out I was holding the lock/unlock buttons for too long. Key now operates remote, ignition, and physical locks. Toyotas seem to have at least 5 different procedures for both ignition and doors across their models. Getting the right info was a pain, with contradictory advice everywhere. The remote lock by door open/close procedure seems to be very common across models though. Hope this helps
  2. OK here's an example pic of the rear boot. Scuffs showing on the headlining. Carpet has had a single go with Auto Glym hi-foam interior shampoo, good start but more crud to come off. Mystery hard headlining by the boot and also on door pillars to roofline. Material surface is soft touch like suede/artificial/micro-suede but hard underneath. Dragging a nail on the surface lightly will leave a line, which can rub out eventually.. Tried the shampoo on the corner by the lamp access hatch. It does absorb the moisture, a scrub loosened some surface dirt, but all the scuffs are deep and not coming out. Drying marks not so obvious as the marks mask it. Look closely and you'll see some pink discolouring too! Any suggestions? Suede cleaner & metal brush? Quick interior detailer? Steam? Thanks

  4. Hi I've just got a new 2003 2nd gen rx, and in the process of giving it a good clean. Current condition is average for a 100k miler. Leather will need a good treatment, some cracking on one corner of driver seat. rears much better, carpets are a state. Started with some stain valet and a brush. improved but stilk work to do. The worst bit is the boot. Carpets up the side are very dirty, nicks in the plastic liner guide. Worst is the headlining on the back. lots of mild stains in the material. But what is the boot headlining above the carpet line? It joins on to the main interior headlining but it's hard and porous. I've given bits a wet wipe and suspecting some absorbency and drying marks and stains quite difficult to remove. Any tips for this section. The amount of wear in here would be consistent with previous dog or heavy boot use. Thanks
