If it has been off the road since Christmas it is very likely the Hybrid Battery has discharged beyond the point of being able to turn the engine over, hybrid vehicles really do not like being unused at all. Although the hybrid Battery is physically large and arranged in series to provide high voltage in reality the Battery is relatively low capacity at 6.5Ah.  My advice would be to charge or renew the 12v Battery first then try again remember to hold your foot on the brake when you press the button. If it does not start there should then be fault codes lodged along with the normal "check hybrid system message" at this point you can retrieve the fault codes & go from there. Hope this helps.

  2. Ok for a 6 months or 5,000 miles guarantee (whichever comes first) on a GS450h the cost is £650 - within this cost I give up to 4 replacement modules FOC. if more modules are needed I charge £35 each for them, the guarantee is limited to only those modules that I replace.

    For 1 year or 10,000miles guarantee (whichever comes first) with the same vehicle the cost is £745 - within this cost I give up to 4 replacement modules FOC. if more modules are needed I charge £35 each for them, the guarantee covers all the cell modules. Hope this helps.

  3. Hi Linas. That very much depends on the length of the guarantee the customer requires as I have the ability to repair the pack to different minimum capacities. The customer chooses the guarantee length they require & I let them know the cost, this varies from customer to customer & is also obviously dependant on the capacities of the remaining modules.

Hi Kalpesh - I have a lovely Canterbury Blue GS450H SEL in for repair at present this is the the model with the excellent Radar Cruise & sunroof fitted, it has @90,000m on the clock which is very low with the cream leather interior which is in good condition. The owner wishes to sell it after repair (As soon as the AA give their go ahead!) I last repaired it in August of 2022 at that time the owner only selected a 6 month graded repair - that was 19 months ago!! not bad aye?

    Early diagnostics reveal at least 2 cell modules are down but the full extent of what is needed will not be known until I have taken the hybrid Battery pack out of the car and carried out full discharge testing of each of the 40 modules over time, I can see that the tpms sensors need doing & there is a scuff/scratch on the N/S/R I would estimate @£100 to repair. I think (dont quote me) that the owner is asking in the low £4Ks for it, I think it would be a good buy for someone.     I have hunted for a module re-conditioner similar to ones used on Youtube, but I have come up empty. I guess if I have to I'll build my own. I am electronics engineer after all.

    If you have this fault you have my full sympathy

    The First thing to be said is despite the fault description - I have never ever found the driver unit (ECU) to be at fault ever.

    When I had this problem with my GS450h I was able with the assistance of Carl911 to repair it myself & I have in the past taken the job on for a few of my customers with the proviso that if the speed sensor magnetic ring inside the pump breaks during strip down it will necessitate renewal of the whole pump at around £1100 ish plus fitting. The job itself can be quite tricky especially if you are not in the mechanical industry & I can fully appreciate anybody's reluctance to tackle it themselves, so I just wanted to let you all know that I can now offer this service generally at less than half the new unit cost with the same proviso as before. So if you are unfortunate enough to require this repair please feel free to PM me.

  7. Its definitely worth doing both bearings & any seals you see, provided you can remove them relatively unscathed any good bearing supplier should be able to match them no problem, one thing i would say is get the best quality available.

    The other bearing & by far the most difficult to remove is under the circuit board which is moveable after screws are removed but be very very careful as there is a circular magnet which i believe is part of a speed sensor which is very very easy to crack or chip - once that happens you are in the do-do, you can only de-solder the connections if you have the correct solvent to remove the coating on them which is probably acetone/alcohol based. As for interchangeability its best to check with Toyota parts i'd say.

    That sound you heard was deffo the auxillary transmission oil pump.

    Hi Boris, I'm pleased to hear you are happy with your GS, I loved mine! - bear in mind though that a "Health Check" is purely a snapshot of the batteries' state of health at that particular moment in time it is not any form of reliable indicator of its health 1 minute or 1 year 2,3, or 4 etc years later.

  9. There are 2 main things to consider (as well as loads of other things like its driving history, how it was mainly driven, how often, maintenance, temperatures etc etc of course).

    1/ is capacity which cannot be known for sure without full testing with the Battery removed from the car, the other is cycle life which if i am looking at the correct ad, we can only estimate with a car that has covered 160,000miles the Battery modules may now be approaching the end of their natural cycle life. 

    I get asked about this a lot & there is no quick or simple answer or reliable user test. If buying from a dealer i would suggest asking for a weeks test drive & I can help advise you with your experience, if they wont agree - walk away.

  10. Hi Howard, yes thanks I had seen the whole consoles on eBay but I'm loathed to pay that sort of money. I guess I might end up having too though!

    3d printing is out as i haven't got anything to scan,...............rats!

    So the way i see it is that the part that has broken off must, must be still there somewhere right!!!!!? It's got to be ??

    I'll put me best glasses on & use my high power torch & have a 6th search round!

Hello everyone, I wonder if anyone can help me, I recently had the centre console wooden trim up to do my Oxygen sensors & managed to break part of the ashtray soft close mechanism, not the end of the world ! but blxxdy annoying. Do any of you have a spare you don't need? eBay no dice. This is the part attached:-

  12. Bingo!!!! So I messed around a bit swapping connections over as you suggested & quickly found by swapping &  deduction that the fault was not one of the sensors at all! 

    So I did a diagnostic & interrogated the live data for the O2 sensors & low and behold 000v on bank 1 sensor 2 so i knew then it had no feed so that sent me checking fuses & relays, difficult to get to some of them in the foot-wells but under bonnet ones were easy enough, all fuses were fine??? so then i thought maybe something to do with the ECU?, so i took the three bolts off & removed the cover to reveal the ECU & all the associated cabling etc, I looked to see if i could see any pairs of black wires that looked as though they were together & gave every plug a push & a wiggle - hey presto! Voltage returned - a quick reset & good long drive & I'm a happy fella. Thank you for your assistance Colin - it helped get me on the right track. Fingers crossed! :thumbsup:

    Thankyou for your reply - Mmmm? Well these were intermotor ones which my friend got for me @£50 each ( I changed both post cat sensors ) - Right, ok, I will take some readings from both old ones & compare with the new ones ( I suspect it's possible one of the old ones maybe open circuit so will be interesting  to see ) I will let you know how I get on. Where would be best to get denso ones from Colin, any idea?
