  1. Hi Farqui The battery was replaced 2 and a half years ago and since that i have replaced the alternator 2 times which makes me think there is another problem. Could it be a faulty earth wire? I am not sure
  2. Afternoon Having a couple of issues and not sure where to start with this. First up I have 3 doors out of 4 that are not responding to the central locking at the around the same time this started I have a problem with the battery draining the battery drain is can happen at anytime not just when the care is stood for long periods of time. For instance the i used the car all morning called into my mums house for 30 mins tried to start the car and nothing there so jumped the car no problem. this happens to me no nearly everyother day. In the past two days have had intermittent power loss whilst driving, I change gear usually around 2,3and 4, I press the accelerator but nothing happens give it a few seconds the revs pick up and off I go. There are no error codes showing up its not going into limp home. I am not sure what to do with it if I am honest, any help you can offer would be great. Thanks
  3. Hi Guys Thanks for your help, I understand now and it seams so obvious. I will reduce the tyre pressure and I will get the tracking geometry checked when I get two new front tyres I assume will be soon as its MOT time at the end of the month and I don't think will pass MOT in the current state. Thanks Ryan
  4. Hmmm this is very intresting, The balding on the tyre may be from a know fault to me but i will have to investigate further the know fault is that the brake calliper pins have seized but have been taken out cleaned and put back in, until i get the pins from the dealer and get my local garage to sort. the car is currently pulling to the left which also happens to be the tyre that is balding on the edge the quickest. I have my mot soon so that will throw up any potential or current issues. In my limited knowledge I understand the tracking or geometry to be out if the car pulls to one side. I suspect that i will have to replace the tyre to get it through mot but dont want to spend a fortune as i am wanting to upgrade my alloys and tyres to bigger ones but not right this minute. I have also had a look on the inside of the door and this is where I get the 48 and 45 psi i explained earlier
  5. Hi Guys I am struggling with tyre pressure slightly. I am confused as i have seen a lot of different information as to what tyre pressure i put in and when i read the owners manual i get even more confused. I believe i still have the factory issue std for my is220d at 205/55/r16/91w I have been putting 45psi in the front and 48 in the back. problem is i am getting a balding of the tyre on the edge which i believe means there is insufficent pressure in the tyre. Can anyone heklp or at least point me in the right direction? Thanks Ryan
  6. Hi Gary Yes my brakes are still working fine although I will be attempting to replace these pins with my mate soon, and doing the work myself. I have since found out that the pins are available on Ebay and from the dealer and are separate from the calliper housing, I will be going through the dealer for the parts as the pins are around £10 each so to save confusion and maybe not getting the correct part I will go with the dealer. I am tempted to phone a garage and see how much they will charge for them to get the parts and labour just so I know how much I am saving doing it myself. I have also been advised to change the brake pads when doing this. so might do that aswell although not strictly required. What have you done so far to sort it Hope this helps. Ryan
  7. Update. Currently on the side of the motorway waiting for the AA all power has gone only yhing working is emergency lights. Car will not start, chech vsc light came on etc grrr
  8. Afternoon All Started the car yesterday morning IS220d and the battery light came on straight away and has been on since apart from the odd occasion when the light flicks off for a few seconds then returns to being on constantly. About two months ago I replaced the battery as it wasn't turning the engine over, but all the lights were coming on sat nav lit up etc. In the end it was the original battery so I replaced it. Although the light is on I cannot feel or see any difference in the car and is still starting/running in the normal way i.e. no drain on battery that I can tell so far. Has anyone an idea or maybe give me an idea of what to check as I don't want to wait to long before it turns into something more sinister. Thanks Ryan
  9. Hi all I tried to bleed the breaks again but to no avail. I grew tired of this so I took it to a local garage and they investigated the problem. the problem seams to be the pins in the front calliper housing, some of the pins had rusted and were in bad shape but they managed to grease the pins and for the moment they seam to be working fine. Does anyone know if the pins are available without the calliper housing and if they are a dealer only part? Thanks Ryan
  10. I will try an bleed them again, has anyone else had a similar issue?
  11. Hey all New to the group and my first Lexus (is220d) 07 plate, really happy with the car in the few months I have had it but I have noticed something that is a little disconcerting while driving. I noticed it a few weeks ago, I will try my best to explain and hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction. Ok so most noticeable on the motorway with a fair distance between using the breaks. I press the break gently and as the traffic was slowing quicker than i was i had to press harder on the break, when i did this there was not a lot extra breaking power and as i pressed harder i think the abs kicked in. (I think abs?) had to move out the way into the next lane to avoid hitting the car in front. It happened again on the motorway this time i pressed the break gently and as the same thing was happening i liffted the break and pressed down again this time i got more power almost like there was air in the breaks. I got my mate round and we bled the breaks this made the problem worse as it seemed to render the breaks useless, as the fluid level although they had been bled didn't change it eventually did and after some time and pumping the breaks the breaks seemed to fix them selves but last night the same problem happened on the motorway. The most annoying thing is tho if i break I don't get a lot of power until i lift the peddle and press it again then i get thrust forward because to me they seem to be working properly but as soon as I set off again and a little distance between breaks it happens all over again. The other thing that I am unsure of is when I apply the break in an emergency stop situation they work fine and as I expect them to but if I have the gradual breaking before an emergency stop then its just unnatural or at least it feels that way. Please understand that this is my first real luxury car before this is have had astras and micras etc and went for a decent brand one that I have always admired so not sure if this is a special feature that I am unaware of? Is there anyone that has had a similar problem taht could guide me ? Thanks in advance Ryan
