  1. Might see you there ASH. Am taking my IS200 LE (12.7k miles new in Jan 04) to Lee at Lexus Stockport. Lee was very helpful and fitted my IS in immediately. Very glad I have seen this thread. I have discovered that there is excessive wear on the inside of the front tyres. Have done all the driving myself and have never banged or potholed the wheels. I hope that it will be corrected as I don't mind buying tyres when they should be replaced...............but not early. Are the factory settings not checked prior to delivery? Other than this the car is brilliant. Have printed the settings from the KBase to compare. Captain Ted Striker
  2. I expect this question will have been posed before but I have been unable to find an answer on the forum - my own fault I expect!! Please can someone tell me the type of oil to use. From memory the handbook shows the grade but I gather the recommended oil is MINERAL. Is this true?? If so is there any benefit to adding synthetic oil to what is already in there on delivery?? Would synthetic oil be harmful? In short what make/type (in the absence of TOYOTA OIL) do I buy on the forecourt that is best for my Lexy IS200 LE Auto when or if it needs some added. Thank You Ted
  3. My IS200 LE Auto Jan04 has now done 5600 miles and fuel consumption is improving all the time. Last tank was giving 33mpg. Mix of Manchester to Sussex and round Cheshire. Ted :P
  4. Feeling much better now I have found this page re dents. I was very annoyed to find that some toss pot had put a dent on the the front o/s wing of my otherwise pristine 4 week old IS200 LE. As said above why the heck can't people be more careful. I wonder if people see a new car and assume that you are either loaded or it is a company car. My car was bought by me with hard earned and hugely taxed income. Like all here I am very careful not to damage another persons car. I have sent pics to the Lexus dealer for an opinion but have to say that hearing about the various 'Dent' companies is encouraging. The metal is dented but I don't think that the paint is 'broken'. Really p****s you of doesn't it??? Ted
  5. POWER OUTLET Page 72 of my owners manual describes a 'Power Outlet' that is designed for powering car accessories. I can't find this outlet as the picture of it does not make its location clear. I phoned the dealership and the salesman was not aware of an outlet other that the cigarette lighter. According to the Owners Manual this would seem to be in addition to the cig lighter. Any ideas where it is? With Thanks Ted
  6. Tony Thanks for your mention of there already being an amp in the base of the aerial. The Top Gear site did not make it clear - the me that is- if the problem needed a booster or has already been cured. Reading it again in the light of your comments suggests that issue -if there was one has been solved. How long have boosters been installed in the aerial base? Captain Ted
  7. Thanks Andy. Saw the reference at the Top Gear Webclub Page. The section is titled The Car Knowledge. http://dotm1.net/t.asp?l=23421&i=6758824 Alex
  8. I have bought a new IS200 LE Auto and am delighted with the car. It was also pleasing to find this forum on the net. Whilst the car is excellent I have read that radio reception can sometimes need improvement with an aerial booster. I am new to the forum and sorry if this has already been covered but any advice would be most welcome. Thank You
