  1. Hi, I cannot comment on the ls400, as I have a ls430. About a year ago I had my cam belt, water pump etc done and had a new radiator fitted at the same time. I had it done at Lexus Bolton, and the whole job came to about 800 pounds, and that included a loan car for the day. Nothing but praise for Lexus Bolton. The price without the rad would have been circa 500 pounds. 1000 pounds is far too much PS: Sorry but I just cannot get the pound sign to work. Here's wishing each and everyone a very happy and trouble free motoring new year. Bob. 3
  2. Hi Brian, Many thanks for your advice, and sorry for not replying sooner. I will try what you suggest tomorrow (Monday), as at the moment we are having quite a lot of snow, nice to look at but in my dotage it is just too cold, not having a garage etc etc. Best wishes, Bob.
  3. Thanks Phil, as mentioned earlier, I'll try some grease (as opposed to oil) - see if that works - thanks again.
  4. Hi Mark, Many thanks for your kind reply. I'll try what you did - I've already oiled the catch mechanism (thinking that the cold weather might have affected it). I'll try what you suggest tomorrow, as its too dark to do anything at the moment.
  5. Here's hoping that someone maybe able to help / advise. I have a 2002 ls430, and a few days ago I had the battery replaced under warranty (It as not holding a charge) at the Lexus dealers - so far so good, however a strange problem has arisen. I can release the bonnet from inside the car without a problem but, it takes quite a few goes to press it locked shut. I am just wondering if it is an electrical fault or a problem with the bonnet release cable. Please be gentle as I am no good with the spanners, Many thanks and best wishes, Bob.
  6. Reference to key fob battery replacement ----- A few weeks ago I needed a battery for my key fob, and not knowing any better I decided to replace the battery in my other key - I went into my local Lexus dealers, and they fitted both keys for nothing! Yes, nothing - I even had a cup of rather nice coffee whilst I waited. Furthermore, when I went into the their car park I asked what type of tyre shine they used, and to my further surprise they gave me a bottle - not that bad - I suppose it depends which Lexus dealers you use. Anyway, I hope that you get everything sorted to your satisfaction, Happy Christmas to one and all.
  7. To cut a long story short - I accidentally had my master key in a shirt pocket (you know - the key with three buttons on it), anyway, the shirt went into the washing machine. When I discovered what happened I was somewhat perturbed (to put it mildly, very mildly). The upshot to all this - the key still works in all the usual ways. I thought I was really very fortunate - good old Lexy.
  8. Hello all. For what its worth - I'm a very new Lexus owner (LS430 '02). Last June I purchased it, October it passed its MOT but (there's usually a "but") there was little service history, and I did not know if it had a timing belt done - so I checked a few places for quotes, and do you know; the least expensive was Lexus in Bolton ( £500 including water pump ). On Friday morning I took it in, got a curtesy car (CT200h). By the time I got home they rang me up to say that the radiator was kaput, they even sent me a video of the problem rad. Strange as it may seem I was seriously considering a new rad because of problems with auto box's mentioned in other posts. A little earlier today I went to pick her up (and pay!!!!!) - they had given her what seemed to me was a great valet (inside and out) - I was glad to be back driving her - the CT200h was a nice car, but not in the same league. I think that sometimes we (me) give the main dealers a bad time - I must admit, thus far, they have played fair by me (apart from trying to charge £70 for 5 litres of oil. Sorry about the rambliness ( is that a word? ) Here's hoping I keep away from my wallet for a goodly while. Best wishes to all, Bob.
  9. Thank you Colin. - my fault, I missed that - please accept my apologies. Many thanks, Bob.
  10. Forgive me if this is the wrong section and to move it, if this is the case. I am a recent Lexus convert (2002 LS430), and new to the LOC. Anyway, being quite paranoid about computer fraud and the like, and having read that I shouldn't deal with any "selling" website that has not got a full postal address and a landline telephone number - I was thinking of purchasing something from the club shop, but try as I may I could not find these details (this may not be surprising as I'm not the most tech savvy on the planet) Just wondering, Thanks, Bob.
  11. Thank you gentlemen for your kind and prompt answers, they are much appreciated. Its raining quite heavily in Bolton where I live, so will have a look as soon as the weather improves (British weather - don't you just love it). Once again, many thanks, Bob.
  12. Hello, I'm new to Lexus, and indeed to the LOC. As stated I have a 2002 LS430. I was reading through the owners handbook (as you do) and it mentions the type of automatic transmission fluid, but my question is where is the aft dipsick situated? I obviously looked under the bonnet and found virtually all the fluid access points but not the atf. Could anyone give me a rough price for cam belt and water pump supply fit price. Finally, regarding main (master) key. I do not have the key number. Would Lexus main dealer give me the number (given that I would furnish ID)? Many many thanks, Best wishes to all, Bob.
