  1. Thanks guys, i checked, it's H3. So for a standard, easy fit replacement, what would folks recommend?
  2. Hi guys, Can anyone point me to a link where I can get a standard OEM bulb for front fog lights. I've a 2003 plate. H3 right? Or a link to a very good alternative fog light. Thanks!
  3. Hi Chris. The hub is in, along with a disc and pad (both pageid) on that side only.I had the flange face spotless and the bearing is good. Caliper pistons and sliders are free as a whistle.I can do no more, just wait and see. I'll know more in ~2k miles. Whatever happens, I'm done with anymore time or money on this! Right now, it's bliss, a whopping 20 miles done I'll keep ye posted.
  4. Hi Chris, man you have bad luck with those bearings! Black look good. What colour is you car? I have the hub, disc and pad. I changed the back discs and pads (originals with > 100k miles on them) last week. They were shot when i took them off and inspected them. New ones have made a difference. I'm happier than expected with that change.I'll let them bed in for a few weeks and decide on tackling the front then. If the judder is as good as any 13yr old car I might just leave as is for a bit. I'll keep you posted.
  5. Hi Chris, got a complete hub assembly. Will give it a go soon. Do I need to retrack after swapping it out?
  6. Thanks lads!works! And thanks Chris for all the info. I'm wondering if you were maybe lucky! Perhaps you had the same symptoms as all the rest of us but a different underlying issue? What do you think? I'm tempted to go down the same route as you and go second hand full unit and a new disc. I've MOT in a few weeks and decide after that. Sick of spending time and £ on this.
  7. Thanks everyone. What is the story with this forum, can't go back to the previous pages on this topic...can someone contact admin about this or am I the only one having this issue?
  8. Actually - while I think of it.. My latest judder issue is at about 70 also...but it's only in the steering...not through the pedal. Doody, rincewind, gdh300 and chris - Your judder - steering wheel or brake pedal or both?
  9. Doody - This is a real bummer. Rincewind - If those bushes you refer to are the issue then why would new discs and pads work for a short period? Surely changing the discs would have no effect if the bushes are the issue? lexus22 (Chris) - You are still the only one to have solved this definitively! You must be on to something with your complete arm (steering knuckle) theory. That is what you changed correct? Is the diagram above by gdh300 what you are referring to? Or is there more? I want to understand the entire lineup. Both myself and gdh300 have tried on car lathe but with no joy. Does this stack up in your mind? I felt if something was "untrue" then the lathe would compensate for it. That compensation factor should hold provided the untruth didn't become worse if you know what I mean! Man - Lexus should come on here and come clean with what needs replacing! This is the nastiest issue I've ever had on a car. £££ down the drain for something that has to be a 20th century issue. So frustrating. Like the majority on here, everything else is perfect on my car!
  10. All the best Doody, please post back here when you have 2000 miles on the new setup.
  11. Good to hear Chris. Interesting feedback Damo2. You have ruled a lot of items out of the equation. Interesting your pedal is judder free, to me that means your disc mating and sliders and carriers and calipers must be in very good nick. A puzzle indeed!
  12. Well, mine is back again after ~3k miles. I got the front discs lathed while on the car. I did this thinking it would compensate for any issue with the hub running out of true. The issue was on the NSF, disc was badly warped prior to lathing. For a while after lathing it was pure bliss but eventually.... Same as others, I feel the judder above 60mph, only when the car has traveled for 30 mins or more and the discs are warmed up. I am really happy that the calipers or sliders are not over heating as they are fine when i pull in and check them for any sign of heat. I have rebuilt the entire braking setup on both sides at the front if folks here recall. Do others on here feel the vibration in the pedal or the steering wheel or both? Wear socks only to be sure its coming through the pedal. I also had a lower ball joint replaced on the NSF and wonder if its somehow linked.... The comment from Lexus about the issue being at the back is interesting! I'm beginning to think there may be something in that..Damo2 I would go back! My stub axle bushings have play and need replacing but the non genuine options on ebay and elsewhere are rubbish by all accounts. We know what Lexus suggest and its big money. But could issues at the back be somehow linked to the front? Has anyone on here changed their back discs or pads during their struggle?! I'm gonna drive in my socks for a bit and report back exactly what amount of judder is coming through the pedal and wheel. My car is perfect apart from this, which is why its driving me crazy! Surely someone out there has the definitive answer! Chris appears to be the only one to rectify but his fix has not worked for others. Chris - Are you still judder free?! Are there other IS forums that might be helpful, plenty of guys driving their IS200s much harder than any of us i bet. They might hold the answers! Have lexus a website that you can submit technical problems like this?
  13. Hi Steve, i have pics i took myself of the various bushings etc and would like to upload. I don't seem to have option to add attachments...
  14. Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on rear suspension part numbers. I'd like to upload some pics but don't seem to have the ability to do so...? Do I need special membership?
  15. Hi Chris, i got the discs on the front skimmed with an on car lathe. There was an issue with the run out on the NSF hub, NSF disc was badly warped. Mechanic reckoned with my long history it was the best and cheapest thing to try. It will compensate to suit my car. Discs would now not work on any other car. I'll know in about 2k miles i guess. But it is now perfect. Rules out front lower arm bushes and a whole lot of other things but hey they are probably not all100% either. Tip: Put car on lift and get someone to lightly apply brake, then try and turn the wheels by hand on both sides, you will find what side the issue is. Others mention the rear caliper noise, don't overly worry about that, the rear caliper is a completely different design to the front. Save your money for the front ones and the recurring nasty issues they have! You will need it! The entire front brake assembly is a disaster on these cars, Calipers, Pistons, Rubber boots, Sliders, Carriers, soft hub flanges, font lower arms and bushings...need i go on!
  16. Confirmed that the run out on both NSF disc and hub is way off. OSF is okish. Is it fair to say guys that checking the Run out on the Hub flange is absolutely critical after fitting either just a flange or a complete hub carrier? Is it pointless putting on a new disc if the run out is not within spec? Have Mike & Bill ensured this is the case? I know Chris did. Chris, did you really get < 0.04mm on the disc run out with the S/H hub carrier? What is the tolerable run out at the hub flange? Is it also 0.04mm? Are ye also changing pads each time of sanding down the problematic one in each case? Probably only ~1k miles on them anyways. If getting a S/H hub carrier, is it the end of the world if bearing is gone, must important thing is the run out on flange is really good. Then change the bearing if necessary. Or am i missing something here? I'm thinking if guys have gone down just the flange and bearing route then maybe the mechanic just tells you the run out is ok even if it isn't as you have just wasted a bearing anyways and they may not be able to return the flange to supplier. Maybe its a case of ah sure try it and see! Question: How much is a new complete hub carrier assembly from Lexus? Are there non OEM complete hub assembly versions? Not just the flange and bearing.
  17. Best of luck Billy. Are ye also changing the pad each time round the loop? Probably a good idea right?
  18. Hi all, no surprises for guessing why i am on this thread now also! I have a 2003 IS200 with 100k miles. Problems with the brakes started about 95k. So far I have replaced pads & discs 3 times, slider pins and carriers, all rubber boots, got re furbished Calipers but still the horrible judder after a few hundred miles :megaangry: Next steps for me is to check run out on both discs and hub flanges and the brake line hose going to both side. To be honest, not much faith in my current mechanic so i might try elsewhere. So frustrating! Apart from this, the car is really good, 1 previous owner. I have suspicion the re furbished Calipers might be the problem but could be wrong. Hope i dont have to go and get hub carrier assembly. Sounds like Chris was the only guy to sort this out? With Mike and Billy both still suffering. I also got my wheels sandblasted and repainted. They now take a lot of weight to balance correctly, could also be the tires..but its just niggeling in the back of my mind that it could all be related. So, i'm goona get the Calipers and Slider pins checked and see if there are issues. Also gonna check the run out on the hub and discs and the brake hoses. Anything else? What about the control arms bushings, front and lowers arms themselves? Tie rods... ? I did replace the rear stub axle bushings with ones from ebay but to be honest the front brake issue was there all along anyways. The ones from ebay are not so good, very stiff but thats another topic!
