What's the problem with electric vehicles
Shahpor replied to Mr Vlad's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
Oh ffs, would you (and some others) on the forum stop calling members on here that disagree with you idiots! 🙄 Some anti-EV people on here are causing some of the worst grief I have seen on this (otherwise great) forum in my time here. @Las Palmas You seem to like copying and pasting every article that is against EV's as if it is something significant. Like it or not, EV's are here to stay, so you need to move on! https://www.iea.org/news/demand-for-electric-cars-is-booming-with-sales-expected-to-leap-35-this-year-after-a-record-breaking-2022 "Ambitious policy programmes in major economies, such as the Fit for 55 package in the European Union and the Inflation Reduction Act in the United States, are expected to further increase market share for electric vehicles this decade and beyond. By 2030, the average share of electric cars in total sales across China, the EU and the United States is set to rise to around 60%." Given an average lifespan of 10 years, this means that those 60% of cars will be around until at least 2040! And before you start saying that there is still time to stop it, that is just naïve thinking as car manufacturing build cycles mean that a lot of these cars are already in the design stages and will slowly be released in the next 5 years or so. So, in effect, they are already here. Now, I know this post will most likely fall on deaf ears and will do nothing to stop people spouting the same thing again and again, but by not commenting I feel like I am somewhat complicitly agreeing with what is being said and that is certainly not the case. -
Warning for those with pv Solar Panels
Shahpor replied to Barry14UK's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
Interesting info chaps, thanks for sharing. This is what May has brought me, but since I have only had the system about 3 months, I can't tell how good it is: It should be noted that we have an electric car, hence why the export might not be as high as it would be otherwise. Still, not had to charge the car from the grid this month, which makes it all the more fun to run a car on solar power 🙂 -
Warning for those with pv Solar Panels

Apologies for asking what might be an obvious question, but is this the meter that the Solar installers fit when they commission the system? If so, is the owners responsibility if it goes wrong? -
New 2024 Lexus LBX small SUV all set for reveal
Shahpor replied to talaipwros's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Great, another SUV.... I would have thought that the UX, RX, NX and RZ would be enough for now. Based on the size, I am assuming this is the CT 'replacement'. -
He has already done so 🙂

This is not true. https://www.caa.co.uk/Commercial-industry/Airports/Safety/Dangerous-goods/Lithium-batteries/ As long as they are stored in the correct container, there are no restrictions on airlines transporting batteries as cargo.

I have just signed up with them after Admiral tried to charge me an extra £300 compared to my policy last year! So far, so good. Quick and helpful on the phone and very easy to deal with. I basically sent them a screenshot of my cheapest quote and they beat it by £20. For £35 they also do excess cover, so effective my excess has gone from £450 to £0 and the overall price is still lower than I paid last year. Hopefully I won't have to find out how good they are at claim handling!

My understanding is that suspensions components, especially those with rubber in them, should be torqued with the car on the ground supporting its own weight. Strangely, the repair manual says to settle the suspension and then raise the car up again before tightening the lower shock absorber bolt: I suppose if you don't have a lift then it might be easier doing it this way.

Exactly the same for me, although for me it was the lack of choice of a suitable saloon car. I defected to Kia and have been happy since. Having said that, I too hope to be a Lexus owner again some day.

Apologies but I am a little confused: Doesn't your car now belong to the cats? They have obviously decided it will make a very comfy bed 🙂 My cat definitely owns my house and my wife and I just borrow it when he isn't looking 🙂

A fellow Stinger owner? Small world 🙂 A competitor to the LC it most certainly is not! -

LC500 V8s back to mid £40k by end of year?
Shahpor replied to Flytvr's topic in Lexus LC500 Coupe Club
Some interesting points made by all 👍 Personally, I like the oddball outsider cars but I do have a soft spot for the older BMW's out there. As such, I think I would prefer the LC500 over the 850, all things being equal.. However, as Linas points out, things aren't equal and price is a strong factor in any car purchase. So, my only point from my original post is that the used 850i's I have seen represent a considerable cost saving compared to when they were new and can be considered a 'bargain'. Whether you think there are better cars out there for the same price is somewhat irrelevant since I am speak of the BMW in isolation. Having said that, when it comes to BMW, I do consider the M850i as an unusual choice, especially when you consider that a similar price would get you an M3 or M5. Based on nothing more than my opinion, I think that the majority of people would opt for one of the full fat M cars over the 850; by extension, this makes me reflect on the 850 as the odd-one-out and actually makes it more appealing to me! Strange logic I'm sure but that is what my brain is telling me 🙂 -
LC500 V8s back to mid £40k by end of year?
Shahpor replied to Flytvr's topic in Lexus LC500 Coupe Club
True. I was comparing it to buying a new one at the moment, which will cost you over £120k list price in a similar spec. Surprisingly, there weren't too many option packs for the 8 series, although the ones it did have were very expensive! Also, unless my dates are failing me, the one I posted still has its original warranty until August this year. Where to begin... I would prefer the 8 series over the Mercedes, but that is down to the individual. I don't consider the Aston and Ferrari as 'everyday' cars like the 850 would be, so not really a good comparison. For the Maserati, again, preference thing. Also, what makes the 8 series a good buy equally applies to the cars you posted, so it is a choice at the end of the day. With the exception of the LC500, as my only car, I would choose the BMW over all the cars you have linked, so in terms of a good used car purchase, I still maintain the 8 series I posted is worth it considering what you get for your money. Just my opinion, of course. -

I look this up and couldn't believe the prices. This used example https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/202303185369869 has lost half its value (£60,000!) in less than 3 years and 8000 miles! Serious bargain if someone was so inclined. -
IS300H increase in value
Shahpor replied to Colinb623's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Which makes it even more of a shame that they aren't selling the IS in the UK anymore. I would have seriously considered it as my next car if they had. -
🙂 I guess what I am getting at is that with 'hot hatches' now pushing 400hp in some cases, the lines of what a performance car is can sometimes get a little blurred.
-
Another thing that I hadn't considered before is would you fit a different tyre based on the performance of the car? Now, I am not talking supercars or anything, but, for example, my Stinger comes with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S's. Personally, based on how I drive mine, I think the S's are overkill but the manufacturer obviously didn't think so. When it comes to stopping distances, the performance of the car should be largely irrelevant given the speeds involved, however, when it comes to handling, it is much easier for my rear tyres to lose traction than on my previous cars, so levels of grip might be important. So, in my instances, I will probably be 'downgrading' my tyres to the Pilot Sport 4's or something similar because the S's seem to be primarily for maximum performance and handling characteristics.

Seems to work just fine 🙂 Harry's garage also released their video of the same car today:

This is somewhat confusing to me, I must say. As Miles has pointed out, I was a part of said thread and I didn't think there was anything in there that Miles did wrong per se. At least, not enough to justify what sanctions are being apparently applied here. I also find it strange that no reply has been received that at least explains the reasoning behind what has happened. perhaps something has been missed along the way? In all my dealings with Mods/Admins here, I have always found them fair and understanding, and in fact, I think a little too hands off sometimes! Either way, I hope the situation gets resolved as soon as possible and any disagreements settled.
