  1. Hey, It would probably be a case of removing and check the scuff plate itself then. They just clip on, but can still be tricky to remove. Once off, you can check them like so:
  2. You're most welcome So, even though it tested fine with a multimeter, the switch turned out to be faulty? How odd. Glad you got it sorted in the end.
  3. Welcome Jason. Funnily enough, my car is also going back to Lexus Reading in a couple of week for a noise from the dash since the air bag recall was done. The difference is, it will be the 3rd time it has gone back! Fair play to the dealer though, they have never questioned it and have always had another go with no fuss. I would struggle to connect a faulty headlight with the dash removal to be honest. It could just be bad timing. I could very well be wrong, but I would have thought it is much more likely to be a problem with the light itself.
  4. Well, I can only speak from personal experience, but mine always starts easily regardless of the weather. Although, I will admit being down south probably means i haven't started mine in the cold temperatures you guys have experienced. Assuming it is not normal (it might be fine), then it sounds like it is turning over ok, so more likely something like glow plugs or fueling.
  5. Not really sure about the noise, but having listen to the first clip, is it always so hard to start the car? It doesn't sound right and it seems to be struggling?
  6. Agenda? A tad paranoid perhaps? Maybe you don't see an agenda because there isn't one? Also, what I said wasn't an accusation, it was an opinion. As for political correctness, did you even read my post? So, please show me where he said that, and I will agree with you that he shouldn't have said it.
  7. Why do I get the feeling I am being sucked into something here? Am I anti horse if one is on the road at peak times holding everyone up? Yes, I am. And it is not about how much time it added to my journey, but the cumulative affect it has on all concerned. 1 or 2 minutes for me, 1 or 2 minutes for the 50 cars travelling the same road as me, 1 or 2 minutes for the thousands more each day that come across the same thing. Personally, I don't think an attitude change is necessary; what is necessary are bicycle lanes. I'm sorry, but this sounds like back pedalling (if you will excuse the pun). Again, I will say that I could be mistaken, but that it not how your post came across, and it seems I am not the only one who thinks that.
  8. Perhaps I misunderstood what you said (it can happen on forums), but you seem to insinuate that, because Linas is not from the UK, that his understanding of the driving laws here are inferior and he comes from a less civilised country. It came across as quite xenophobic.
  9. Seriously, you have never had a parking ticket before? It can be a tricky one because, if you look at it from the councils perspective, they must get people trying to make excuses all day. Although, in this case, I do think it is unfair to you. Unfortunately, unless you have a picture of the car parked with leaves covering everything, there is not much you can do. You also say there were no signs, but there must be one somewhere close? You say you argued with the council, so assuming you have already told them all this, then looks like you have to pay up.
  10. @doog442 so what is wrong with being anti cyclist? I am not against people riding bikes per se, but there have been times when I have had to endure a long tailback on a single country road because of a cyclist, when I wished they were off the road. Also, as far as Linas wanting to punch them, he was referring to one specific instance, and again, I can relate. I can't seem to see where he says they are retarded, although I will admit that he does like to type long posts so I may have missed it. You also state that you think cycling isn't dangerous. Have you seen what it is like for them on London roads? If you did, you wouldn't say that. Since the roads are so narrow, cars, and especially vans/trucks, don't leave much room so it easy for them to get squeezed. If you watch the episode of Top Gear when Richard Hammond racers the others on a bike, you will see what it's like. Although you need to watch the outtakes to get a real sense since he swears so much! Anyway, the point is that while Linas can be grating (there's always one ), he still doesn't deserve what you wrote. You could always be the bigger man and just leave this be.
  11. Welcome Paul. I am afraid I can't help you with the noise as I can't seem to open the files? You could try attaching them to a post on here? As far as the gear stick goes, yes, it is tilted towards the driver. It is a little strange, isn't it? I don't think smelling fuel is normal and I am pretty certain mine doesn't produce any smells when stationary or moving slowly. The obvious answer would be a fuel leak somewhere. What is your mpg like?
  12. I agree with @Rebecca, @doog442 post does not reflect well on him and wasn't warranted. So, trying to steer the conversation somewhat, Linas, did you ever get the mirror fixed?
  13. Funnily enough, I saw a VW Polo this morning with almost the same stance on the M25. If I hadn't been driving, I would have snapped a picture. Surely this is dangerous consider how much rubber is touching the ground? If not, it should be banned based purely on the look!
  14. Code P1426 refers to a differential pressure sensor error. This is what the manual says:
  15. I am the other way round since I have only run my car on Shell V Power, so I am not sure whether to switch to standard diesel since it could undo any benefits I might have gained up till now. I was tempted to switch today though when I filled up and saw it was 135.9p a litre!
  16. As far as I can see in the manual it makes no mention of any programming required, so I think it is just plug and play. I don't know if you want to test it or just replace it, but if you want to test it then the values are as follows:
  17. No, it is a 15A fuse. These PDF's should give you an idea where it is: CSJB-RH.pdf EngineR-R.pdf Just pop the cover off the fuse box and pull the fuse out. It should be obvious if it has blown or not. As for the OBD2 port, do you mean the DLC3 connector here: I have absolutely no clue when it comes to these diagrams, so perhaps you can tell me why you checked for voltage across that pin? Thanks.
  18. Well, it seems you did get a bargain considering how much they want for them now: As you can see, this price is without tyres.
  19. According to the manual you should check the following fuse first: Remove the AM2 fuse from the cowl side J/B RH. Measure the resistance of the fuse. Standard resistance: Below 1 Ω After that, it recommends removing and check the switch, which unfortunately requires removal of the sat nav/stereo unit.
  20. How did you manage to score such a bargain? I can't be sure, but this video looks like the right colour and wheels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dF3drybTBaI
  21. Nice looking car you got there What spec is it? How was it mapped and what is it like now?
  22. Well, I can't help you with the post facelift cars (assuming there is any difference), but here are what I have on the wiring of the headlights and AFS system on the older cars: AFS.pdf HL.pdf
  23. Nice looking car you got there. Don't see many in black. Sorry, I should have mentioned that I posted the video only to show you how to change the light, not the purchase it from them. I assume if you get OEM lights then you won't have a problem with AFS, although I would think that the satellite function won't work. Might be worth looking for someone who is breaking a facelift car.
  24. Welcome Matthew This video shows you how to swap the lights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnwjS5aN_QI Strange that the pre facelift light is so much more expensive. Oh, and we always encourage people to post pictures of their car, so feel free.
