  1. SAD TO SEE ONES TREASURES CARS DAMAGED.. its a long story, but my dear wife has brain cancer, and so has leased a brand new skoda yeti through MOTABILITY . Its actually a very nice car with its 1.2 tsI dsg (7SPEED AUTO, TURBO PETROL) and rives very well with its firm suspension, 17inch alloys and 225 / 55 tyres but still loo lovingly at me long gone is200
  2. LOL, I feel your pain. christmas before last i had a similar thing happen but not from wipers, was a stone chip that spread. as my MOT was due i got my insurers cover to organise a new screen. autoglass failed on the first two visits but initially failed number 3 but for an experienced old hand fitter who poured a white spirit onto the inside of the new screen while it was on his "workbench" all over and around the stuck on mirror fitting, then set it alight while gripping the stuck attachment and giving it a gentle twist until it was free..after a quick clean up with a blade no traces were left... I also fitted a new rear tyre, 2 new bottom ball joints, engine & filter service, then MOT`d it.. christmas came, I was happy, until boxing day`s family meal time, then a drunk, uninsured, unlicensed, un MOT`d clio reversed so hard into my much loved parked IS200 it moved the rear 7 foot into my daughters parked Zafira moving that 3 foot.... gutted.... written off, last seen at COPART auctions sold for breaking... http://www.copart.co.uk/uk/Lot/41004285?utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks I just hope your luck was better than mine...lol
  3. agree malc, my one was purchased from family, so was a known vehicle after being retained along with a nice pay out. it sat there looking at me so i purchased it for £400....really... drivers side centre door pillar was moved in slightly plus the 2 doors had dents due to a fairly low speed supermarket shunt at it at 90 degrees. still well below mileage for year that made it more appealing.. I hunted round for 2 same year, same colour doors that cost me £60 the pair with about £50 round trip petrol & burgers (lol) to collect them. I changed the front door, left out the rear door, then used my newly purchased porta power with wood blocks in and around the front seats runner & centre tunnel that created a solid point to push from, and a small block of wood over the rear doors lower hinge point, then just pushed (pumped the hydrolic ram) till the front door shut perfectly, and I mean perfectly !! I then fitted the rear door to ensure a perfect fit....Now, as the lower rear door hinge took some impact, it was slightly "crushed" by roughly 3mm, so I made a C washer that thickness to go behind the door piller & hinge = Perfect fit again.. sprayed the hinges and just visible C washer, reconnected the electrics, refitted the door mirror, refitted the door trims and - you would never had known it had been repaired.. Then I had to book a VIC check, that done, re apply for its V5c, that received, taxed it and away.. I had to Insure it first of course, it still had its MOT (requirement of driving it to its VIC check) Now, you no longer need to VIC check it I believe.. *NOTE* the newly sent V5c had its front page declaring its insured statement of previous accident being repaired.. Must admit of having previous experience of "body repair" & porta power use in my 14 years of banger, stock car & hot rod racing history.... plenty of previous use..............lol Hope all this helps.
  4. Currently aiding my dear wife of nearly 47 years, who today Friday 25th November,

will attend her last day of Chemo & Radiotherapy at Colchesters fantastic nursed Radiotherapy suite.

6 long weeks of daily chemo & radiotherapy takes it out of all of us, not leased dear wifey.

In life, we never give it much thought that bastis illness of cancer, but so many of us get caught by it.

In our case, we faced it full on, never giving in, and laughed endlessly in the need for our feel good factors helping us through....

Boxing day last year my Lexus got crushed by a drunk, uninsured driver, and we thought that was bad....lol

it was just a precursor to "bad" later in the year, but we keep smiling.

I still badly miss my lexus, but have put life on hold for my mrs...

I WILL be purchasing another as soon as practical, oh yes....lol

I enclose my mrs in happier times outside Daytona Raceway a "few" years ago.

the racing was / is still in our blood somewhere..lol

  5. Been thinking about your comments shaun, some imported lexus lookalikes are ALTEZA`s with a different engine, a 4 cylinder one I believe. the alteza badges are the same size so can be swopped over of lexus ones. theres also minor other differences inside the car also, as i believe they have fewer "nice touches" best google lexus / alteza I think for a more in depth Idea of what to find. dont want to end up with a "Import" version eh.. sadly, this is the end for me http://www.copart.co.uk/uk/Lot/41004285
  6. Ringers. ....not stingers...lol
  7. Hi sheep I lost my 200 back on boxing day but still keep looking for one again. but I check the check the mot history to find out it's passes or fails since 2003.ish.. goto check my mot history before you even consider looking at anything mate..seen some stingers being advertised as they make good money.. hope this helps.
  8. hi guys, agree both of you. still driving my box on wheels, landrover discovery = old reliable, owned for the last 7 years, done a 130 mile trip in her yesterday, love it but not like loving a lexus. as a short term car i bought a rover 75 club with known head gaskit problems....sigh - yes i know, they all have problems, but the auntie rover drives quite well in its own class. got a pile of replacement / uprated engine parts waiting for "warmer weather" to go on the engine..... but being a sucker for older cars, the same family member i bought the lexus from, i also bought the 53 plate rover, but i also saw a 3litre S type jag sitting there too.....it needed a home, and someone to sort out its 5th gear in its autobox thats hit and miss..... so now i have 2 shiney silver cars to play with, when its warmer enough.....lol still pass loving glances at passing is200`s though - dont think either of my 2 shiney cars fill that void left when my is200 left me.... all is not lost yet. ian..
  9. had a truly nice 3 month old hire car for 2 weeks paid by the insurance company, was a toyota avensis 1800 auto. its dashboard done and told you everything you needed whilst driving, it was a big comfortable car too, plus very good on fuel consumption - but, it never had the spirit of its much earlier bloodline, my missed lexus is 200 se a replacement will be sought in the future....lol.. ian
  10. can lexus breakers not provide the parts and key for you ?
  11. hi steve, sadly no plans at the moment for a lexus, but have been looking. as spoken of, currently motoring in a very clean rover 75 club..(dont all laugh) got the uprated head gaskit set in the post today, waiting on cam belt - water pump kit to arrive, just to keep my spanner skills working. also ordered the cam gears locking tool to make things more simple. had 2 new tires fitted the other day, rear exhaust by me a few more days ago. then tonight, something got the better of my and so i bought an S type 3 litre auto Jaguar... its was the type R grill thats been fitted that grabbed me..honest...lol needs a bit of tlc only as far as I can see, but are these above both "keepers" ??? doubt it.. my hearts in another lexus really.. Ian..
  12. sadly, this is the end for me http://www.copart.co.uk/uk/Lot/41004285
  13. thanks glyn.... its like a berievement, but its only a bloody car.....lol i get attached to things i guess.. will wait for the "right one" soon... meanwhile, my old faithful still gets me around while i catch up on must do`s on auntie rover 75... old faithful is a 25 year old 3 door diesel landrover discovery. its a, 7 seater, builders van, recovery vehicle, not forgetting its towing power... my car heart is divided at times, even (shooosh) 2 wheels - aprilia SR 125 `ish cc... bloody teenagers on modified scooters eh.... happy days mate... 68 years old soon....where did it all go... well....................... another day eh.. ian
  14. updated.. well, signed over my V5 today to copart.... expect some monies from my insurance co soon.. living in a cloud of sadness only lovers of nice lexus owners can when faced with loss.. you`ll love this next bit - bought an 03 plate rover 75 with known head gaskit problems - LOL... yea, I know..lol but it was cheap - very cheap.... untill dosh flows my way then I can look out for another is200 or is300, then sell the nice but awful rover...lol every cloud and all that... I`ll let you all know when I`m back in the brotherhood again.. Ian.
