Help
Oldboy replied to Oldboy's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
You may be right as the wheel was slightly turned... It was a panic moment as I tried locking and unlocking the car, checked the key was fully in, pushed the key in... But it was not turning. Top forum and thanks for the replies. Still need to check out the magic key slot under the wheel... Sent from my XT1092 using Tapatalk -

Insurance

All our cars are with LV, not sure of Lexus price as it was just a swap over from my 5series touring. My renewal is in May so I will be going through the same pain as you in a few months. I may also try a few classic car companies to see if they will insure it ...but I need 13k miles and not the standard 3-4K miles. Keep us all updated and good luck in your search. Thanks for the update. I have a while to go yet but have saved this thread. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Welcome to the forum. I am hoping Martins experience is rare and you only ever hear / remember the disasters. I have had mine 5 months and had completely the opposite experience... Everything works !! I do occasionally worry about what might happen after hearing Martins unfortunate experience but what other manufacturer could you trust for an 11 yr old car with v8 power and Mercedes s class comfort at fiesta money ? Good luck with your search Sent from my XT1092 using Tapatalk

A/C ...silly question
Oldboy replied to Oldboy's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Thank you. Makes complete sense and I have noticed that sometimes the icon was yellow and sometimes automatically switches to green so now I know why... How clever ! Yes, maybe not the best time to be testing AC as temperature has been 0-8 degrees over the last couple of months. Thanks again Sent from my XT1092 using Tapatalk -
Evening all I have checked the owners manual but can't find the answer to my air con question. When i press climate button and turn the heat up to a cosy 22 degrees, the AC touch screen icon is illuminated yellow. Does that mean the AC is on ? Or if I press the AC touch screen icon it changes to green. Is that AC on ? I have tried to see feel the answer by turning down the temperature to the minimum and pressing the AC touch screen icon to see if one setting is colder than the other but I can't tell. Logic would be green is on and yellow is off. Can anyone confirm my logic ? Thanks all Sent from my XT1092 using Tapatalk

My mechanical skills are basic...I can do headlight bulbs and the that's about it ? I even got Lexus to to the rubber wiper blade as it didn't come with the metal arm and that threw me. If it is just unscrewing the old one and replacing with a new one ...I could do that. I will have a quick look on YouTube to see how complex it is. Or alternatively if any one is local to me I am happy to learn under instruction and supervision to make sure I am doing it correctly. Sent from my XT1092 using Tapatalk

LS430 timing belt!
Oldboy replied to Bigture's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Reading Lexus were expensive for cambelt change. It was 350 and when I asked them to change the water pump as well the said that would be another 350. I did tell them that they are next to each other and couldn't be the same cost again but they didn't budge...so I ended up at powerhouse Camberley for 520. I think it was a central call centre that was quoting me the cost and not the dealership itself. I went to them for wipers and they also fitted them for free.. When I spoke to them face to face while fitting the wipers they said I should have gone straight to the service desk and agreed that the call centre had got the cambelt and water price combined wrong !! A lesson to us all...speak to the people that know and not the the call centres monkeys that know nothing ! [emoji1] Sent from my XT1092 using Tapatalk -
LS430 timing belt!

Great to see a Lexus dealership being competitive on their prices Sent from my XT1092 using Tapatalk -
I have had my LS430 for 5 months now and love it !! But stories from other owners about gearbox failures, air suspension and VSC lights do scare the crap out of me .... Until I jump back in the car and the fire up the v8 and I put it into drive. I probably didn't do things the right way round as I bought the car first and then joined this fantastic forum. I wish I had done it the other way round and compared 400 v 430 to see what all the fuss is about on the 400. So far, touch wood and fingers crossed...everything works !! But I did pay over the odds. It was local to me, It was the first car I test drove ....and loved it. So far I have had the cam belt / water pump changed as per 10yr schedule and full service with oil, brake, coolant changed. Next job for this year is the radiator and hope I can continue with trouble free motoring. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic to do the radiator and grease up suspension bits as preventative measures. Mechanic Location around slough, reading, Watford would be ideal or if anyone on the forum does any private maintenance on the side drop me a pm. Keep up the great posts, tips, tricks and banter.
