  1. Yeah I read the Lord Flasheart saga with his BMW. It's long been removed from PH to appease the lawyers but I think there's a website somewhere with the whole sorry tale. Lexus have batted some claims (wasn't there an ISF with a gearbox failure but then I think that was partially settled eventually) but they do seem to be much better than most
  2. Yeah, they look a whole lot better. It's a shame that the factory finish is so prone to corrosion. I had my alloy's repainted about 2 years ago and they're still fine so hopefully yours will last a good while too. You'll just have to make sure you don't kerb them now 🙂
  3. Good Luck Brian with getting this sorted. Can't offer any real insight but as you say component swapping is probably the best way of finding the fault. Have you owned the car for very long?
  4. Do you mean the label to the right of the gear selector - P R N D Something like this do? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-IS220-IS250-Centre-Console-Trim-Panel-Round-Gear-Selector-Dark-Wood-Effect/112559767164
  5. It needs Active-X to work. What browser are you using?
  6. you're between a rock and a hard place... I understand your reluctance to spend cash on a car you have already decided is history but I suspect the hit you will take on any resale value, trade or otherwise, will be more than the cost of fixing the fault.

The lights are just an indicator of a fault, you need a device to read the codes to determine what the fault is - do you have one or do you know someone who does? If by any chance, you have just put fuel in the car, you could check that the fuel filler cap is properly fitted
  8. there you go https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/05-09-LEXUS-IS250-220d-OWNERS-MANUAL-HANDBOOK-PACK-NAVIGATION-BOOK-AND-WALLET-CD/183905127959?hash=item2ad1998e17:g:TbMAAOSwS-FdQZn3
  9. Nice to hear, looks like you struck lucky there btw you need to change your profile info or do you have an RX300 as well? You can download the manual for the navigation system here https://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/omnav-s/OM53515U/pdf/OM53515U.pdf If you need a physical copy I would have thought they would come up on ebay from time to time
  10. Sadly this means I'll likely not ever be able to afford a GSF. Should the lottery numbers ever cosmically align, then a GSF would be one of the 1st items on the list 🙂
  11. thanks for taking the time to post this I think it's always interesting to hear owners experiences in real world driving in contrast to professional reviewers.
  12. I've watched a fair number of cracked bumper repair videos now and I think I have a fair idea of how to fix the bracket The big thing now is - can I get the bumper off?
  13. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-RX400h-RX-400-h-Rear-Right-Driver-Side-Audio-Speaker-86160-0W560-/233113895420
  14. Lots of breakers in Lithuania selling Lexus parts, going rate for one of these seems to be £50 Seems very rusty and corroded, has your door been leaking and letting in water?
  15. The rear bumper on my IS250 has developed a distinct droop. Investigations has shown that the arms of the recessed bolt bracket have broken fully on one side and partially on the other hence they're not supporting the weight of the bumper anymore. See pics below Considering my options here, repair or replace? Searching on you tube seems to suggest that removal of the bumper is pretty straight forward but when I've looked at mine, I can't get to the hidden clip at the rear of the wheel arch unlike the U.S based video's where it seems to be easily accessible. I suspect that I will have to remove the liner but I'm not sure how this is attached? If I can remove the bumper I would imagine my options are flexible body filler or something like Milliput or perhaps fibre-glass sheet and hardner? Any other suggestions? Or should I ask a body ship for the cost of repairing / repainting my bumper (tbh it could do with a repaint) I have looked at ebay for used spares, but they all seem damaged and in quite poor condition - and even then they want around £100 - then I'd need to pay for repair/paint and fitting. I noticed that Autodoc (and the various sister sites) are advertising a pattern part for around the same price as the breakers but they don't have any in stock. Of course, this would still need painting and fitting Any comments or suggestions
  16. thanks for all the replies, it's a shame I couldn't persuade them to buy a Lexus but if it wasn't a practical proposition to begin with I was doomed to failure anyway. They ended up buying a Ford Focus
  17. it's pretty easy to run a cable under the roof lining, down the passenger side windscreen pillar and if you pull off the endplate of the dashboard, you can fish the cable down behind the glovebox and then take a power tap from the fusebox just underneath the glovebox. The only wire you see is the short length that runs from the headlining to the dashcam
  18. Welcome Steve Is that the 'pearlescent' white? Nice 🙂
  19. There's a couple of low mileage SE-L's on Autotrader currently for £6K (one private and one trade), that seems to be the top end of the market. What price they eventually make is of course, open to question. Is that where you were thinking or were you valuing your example higher? I'd be inclined to try the owners clubs here/facebook and maybe Pistonheads at a price you'd be comfortable with, as they may appreciate the exceptional condition / 'enthusiast owner' pedigree a little more.
