I don't know what the handheld unit is in the drivers footwear? Like a cb radio/hostage negotiator loudspeaker setup?

Do they have the v5?

HI
does a 2006 Gs450h need headlights converters?

Hi
My car needs new rear discs and an offside rear caliper.
Lexus prices are £145 for the caliper (re conditioned) and £130 for the discs
Pagid come in at £105 for the caliper, £100 go the discs.
Does anyone have experience of those?

Thanks John-it's not like those wheels, mine are the older wheels.
Thanks Mark-my wheels are like yours in the picture (car looks in amazing condition!!). The part number on the back is 8325 and it is 190mm across. i know there is another one that looks exactly the same but is only 160mm across so too small.
hi andy, just a google image I'm afraid. i have a mark 3, but also some mk2 wheels (which came with the car but don't fit the front due to calliper sizing)

I had one in that colour, beautiful when polished

See thats where the problem lies.
You should have told them you were moving and they probably would have refunded you £92 lol
multiple insurance companies have told me that being hit, increases your chances (statistically) of going on to have an accident.
having said that, I then don't understand why the third party at fault in the first incident, should therefore not be liable for any future accidents in which I'm in!?

The beck arnley UCAs and lower ball joints are very cheap on rock auto but all say oem quality? Does anyone have experience of them? I could get fronts sets of both for £225

Genuine UCAs are coming up at £147.00 each plus around £60.00 shipping from Amayama Japan with 3-4 day delivery but bear in mind HMRC may pounce and delay the package to add to their own coffers!
Steve do you have a link within the site? I can't find them at all
Rock auto seem to have loads but I don't see oem on anything

If replacing front UCA's with a cheap Chinese or Taiwan brand I suggest that you buy new Ball joint covers and replace the existing Rubber which disintegrates in less than a month or as someone said when "just hanging on the garage wall" The unit will then be OK for a while. www.southwalespropshafts.co.uk posts quickly once you've got dimensions.
i think the url is http://www.southwalesprops.co.uk/index.html, but they don't seem to have any LS400 parts?

Wow.....for the front LBJ I would go OEM, the last ones I bought were around £120.00 a pair.
Front UCAs are stupidly expensive from Lexus at around £500.00 EACH so better off with some decent after market ones.
Don’t quite understand the upper anti rollbar ball joint problem unless this means the drop links?
Exhaust you have covered.
Springs I would replace them all not just the broken/bodged ones.
Hi Steve
Thanks for that.
Not sure on the anti roller, i honestly wouldn't know one if it was clearly marked up and hit me in the face.
re: springs, yes, I just know after doing the one, i'll have run out of energy and desire to do both. i swapped one out after buying a pair on the mk3. never got to the other one...

Hi All
Does anyone have ideas around costs for the following failures, specifically the top bunch. Do they need the parts or can i get bushes for some of these?
- Offside Front suspension has excessive play in a lower suspension ball joint (2.5.B.1a) UPDATED £120 a pair plus fitting
- Nearside Front suspension has excessive play in a upper suspension ball joint (2.5.B.1a)
- Offside Front suspension has excessive play in a upper suspension ball joint (2.5.B.1a)
- Offside Rear Upper Anti-roll bar has excessive play in a ball joint (2.4.G.2)
- Nearside Front Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases pip/cat (7.1.2) this is by the CAT, and the bolts (?) near it are rusted - ideally it would go to power flow for a fix, but i'm assuming this is the weak spot, that other members have also experienced, and fixed at power flow (circa £200)
- Nearside Front Tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm (4.1.E.1) £80 for a reasonable one
- Offside Front Tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm (4.1.E.1) £80 for a reasonable one
- Offside Front coil spring broken (2.4.C.1a) £60-80 per spring (kilen would try to replace myself)
- Nearside Rear coil spring modified and seriously weakened (2.4.A.2) (as above, also would try to fix myself)
- Nearside Rear Upper Brake pipe excessively corroded (3.6.B.2c) hours labour plus cheap part?
- Offside Rear Upper Brake pipe excessively corroded (3.6.B.2c) hours labour plus cheap part?

Oh no Mark sorry to hear that, was it a big knock/much damage?
I, not too much, just bumper, but £100 a day car hire, and four days of body shop, it won't be cheap for the insurance. And being hit whilst stationary, it pushed my premium up by £92. Good old insurance.

Yes sadly, I'm now in a 17 plate cls350d. Awful car. Better than mine I know, but it's a well styled tractor. Roll on Friday when I'll get mine back.
i did give it a quick clean a couple of weeks back, to be honest I think a lot of the coating has gone however.

I have a 250k '96 Mk3 which I think is beyond my capacity / willingness to bring up to scratch, but I think the Mk 4 is my ideal - so I may find more willingness (if not capacity!) to work on something like that?
i have the mk3 also, i actually prefer it. the mk4 is an improved car, no doubt, perhaps its because the mk3 was the first one i have. I'll send you some photos, it needs a good clean
Stuart, not that i know of. The seals are noticeably flatter than my MK3 (which doesn't leak). Theres an article on the replacement parts on here somewhere, I just can't find it !

Denis, you'll see it didn't get an advisory on the bonnet struts, I don't think it is a fail, however out of courtesy it might be worth letting the examiner know if only for the sake of their head!

No camera crew with the unmarked car sadly, would have made for good TV.
Seller is definitely up the creek without a paddle so to speak. The recovery costs are £150 plus £30 storage per day. He has 12 days left to get valid insurance, pay for road tax and get the car released after paying the costs listed above.
Legally he has to inform the insurance company of his pending 6 points too, which will make the premium skyrocket.
I’m waiting to confirm if WYP will allow me to purchase the car from the seller whilst it’s still in storage and then get it released in my name with my own insurance policy etc assuming he sees sense and agrees to a more reasonable price.
I’ve been given conflicting answers by them so far.
you can have my r plate for £700. does need tyres, bonnet struts, seal on the boot, and has the blow on the exhaust. 2 previous owners, 144k but currently sorn

I agree that the boot lock is annoying every now and then, secure tho!
I've not found traction an issue but I don't hammer it very often. I guess you're in Sport and/or Pwr when it gives? What tyres and pressures are you running?
I really like the cars 'sleeper' style.
Creaky dash? - nope.i can't resist using that stealth to put a bit of power down, up to the speed limit in the area of course. this is without power mode, i have avons, probably around 36 but I'd have to check, might be 34...

And does your dash creak? And apart from the above would you recommend one?
yes, for no apparent reason, and sometimes doesn't. it's very odd.
I'd get one, but not for the fuel economy... if you look at the gs and the rx the max we can get is 40, the rx goes up to 60mpg...

Hi All
I thought I'd write my own thoughts around the car, having bought it around the middle of last year.
- The drop down, windows in, parking sensors, etc. Gets in the way of my knees, personally it would have been nice to locate it elsewhere, but it could be a space issue. Would also be good if the wing mirrors opened automatically at say 10mph?
- traction is very poor (i may drive too fast?) and handling is average, compared to the german counterparts.
- I have what I believe is a "common", if thats the right word for any fault with a lexus...problem with a door lock. basically it slips, so won't open (the car tries to open itself a few times, so you know just from listening if it's slipped. I need a new one, it's around £120 i think for the part, plus labour.
- I have a tear in the drivers seat (back not side bolster) - could quite easily be user error
- i think the seal in the sunroof has seen better days, and the rear door seals stick a little (nothing me pulling my finger out and lubricating won't fix)
- the boot confuses me, sometimes it opens sometimes it doesn't (thats separate from the sneaky button in the glovebox that locks it when all you're really looking for is a cd)
Its fast. No one seems to know how fast, and it's under appreciated in that respect. Its comfortable, reliable (I do have a knock, but so far no one has been able to identify what it is), and nicely equipped, especially considering its an 11 year old car.

My policy expired tomorrow. This morning someone runs into the back of me (i am stationery behind another stationery vehicle)
my premium renewal price, even though I explain i will not be claiming on my own policy but that of the responsible party, goes up from £518 to £602.
what a joy! obviously i will look to claim that back, but it just feeds my theory of it all being a massive con...

Hi Mike, apologies, Ive not been on the forums too much at the minute due to some personal issues.
i've not washed it yet, now the weather is getting better I may do this weekend.
luckily today some ran into the back of me (whilst i was stationery), so I'll need to wash off some of the muck to view the damage.

this must only be a couple of miles from me.
having the dhp wheels, and an odd size tyre thats going to be a £cost to factor in.
