  1. Heat shields prevent heat going up into boot area and up into the cabin and other metal parts of the body conducting heat which can travel toward the fuel tank. Its there for a reason. Be safe and use common sense. If you have a warranty on the car, they will use any excuse to pay out as the car will not have been maintained to the manufacturers standard of build. If you read the small print, it clearly says this which is why many people are dissatisfied with warranty companies.
  2. We bought a set a Fox Black on the inside and shiny polished silver on the outside set of alloys inc a new set of nuts and locking wheel nuts £475.00 fitted. Reason, original 17 inch alloys far too corroded beyond repair. Even if repaired, corrosion would eat through the new paint as te problem is with the alloy material.
  3. Just had the Mki9200 Parrot kit fitted to our Lexus IS 220D 2007. Fitted by Road Radio, £65 plus £22.50 for SOT leadsand a mic lead. Total cost £107.50 inc VAT. They have done a superb job. Display located in between centre vents. Get a professional to do it as the wires are tricky to do on a lexus due to thd positioning of the amp in the back. If wired incorrectly, it could start a fire in your car. A friend sued Halfords becauase they incorrectly wired a stereo in his alpha. The dashboard caught fire. Cheers and good luck.
  4. Hi all, just thought id mention it, Prior to servicing it my wife uses it for her short commute and was getting around 24 to 26 mpg and no more than 34mpg on a motorway run. Service with new oil oil filter and air filter and some WYNNS Dpf Cleaner which also cleans the injectors as well. Now 30.6 mpg on her daily commute and 40 to 47 mpg on the same motorway run. Engine seems to be smoother as well. This car has only done 82k miles but its a very clean engine. Performs brilliantly, smooth and powerful. This is our first Lexus and have been mightily impressed. Just thought id share some mpg improvement tips.
  5. The pins are housed in the Caliper Carrier. This is a main dealer part only. Cost £161 plus £15 for the pins. Ask for a discount and try different lexus dealers. Guildford lexus quoted £206 and Croydon Lexus £192.00. Cheers.
  6. The car was bought privately at a very good price considering its only done 82,000 miles. The leak as noted is very minor, nevertheless, wanted to know if anyone had any ideas how much it would cost. The car starts, drives & brakes superbly. I have AA BRC on the car but not sure if its covered. So far been very impressed with the car.
  7. Hi there, just joined to get some information from current owners. We bought a 2007 Lexus IS 220d se recently in Jan 2016 with 81,000 genuine miles & Fsh for £3350. So far we have spent £191 on a ns front Brake Caliper Carrier (lexus genuine part) with new pins, £23 on a new set of rear brake pads and £80 labour to fit the above and lubricate and free up the rear right caliper. These were the causes of the mot failure causing a brake imbalance. £100.00 on a Oil/Oil Filter and Air filter Service, where they spotted an oil leak from the Timing Chain cover. Does anyone have an idea of how much will this cost? Is it just a case if fitting a new timing chain cover gasket? Apart from that there were no other issues on the healthcheck sheet. Many thanks in advance for any help.
