  1. Yeah, I think that the easy carrier is a good idea, it should be ok because you're not actually having to drag anything around with it's own drag factor and wheels. But, whilst I think it looks ok and would possibly be ok to cope with 50 K, I am not massively technical, might be worth having a chat with some of the really clever people on here
  2. Guys, i'm sure I have read somewhere recently that Towbars are a No No for the GS300, Lexus do not recommend towing anything with the GS300.
  3. i used to have an absolutely stunning 2.5 twin turbo Soarer, it smoked anything it came across and when you put your foot down, your whole body was pinned in the seat, I can honestly say that it was the fastest car I have ever driven. I had it for 3 months and got rid of it sharpish when I found out (on a motorway) that it was limited to 180 kph. I found that out on the motorway while smoking a Porche from 0 - 179 kph on the slip road I left him for dead, saw him getting smaller in my rear view mirror and with a deep feeling of self accomplishment, the smugness washed over me. Then, I hit 180 and the engine died, it kicked back in when i hit 170 but dropped out again as I hit 180. The guy in the previously smoked Porche roared passed me, I could see the diver laughing, then he vanished. I put my Soarer up for sale the very next day, Bah! Limited cars.
  4. No probs, thanks for looking, i'll see what results a good session of tinkering will produce. Which bit is the transponder? is it in the remote fob or the key itself, will it need a power supply?
  5. Hi Rick, it looks very much like you are a resident expert on this model so Yaaay ! I really don't hope to bore you too much with all the questions I have buzzing through my head. Due to having open heart surgery recently, I am restricted to all the jobs that are not too heavy, but intend to tackle them one by one as soon as the consultant clears me :o) Mean time, thanks for rooting in your garage (sure you have way better things to do) and What's the pick up ring and where is it located? (Am I daft and it's actually the ring that lights up round the key or is it a justifiable question)? Thank you so much for your help. Dave
  6. Good evening fine Lexus folks, I'm still trawling through what needs doing on my 97 GS300 Sport so kind of looking for information on the subjects as I go along. This particular exciting episode (well, it's exciting for me since I have never done this king of stuff before and haven't got a clue what I am doing) is to do with the electrical side of my nice GS, firstly, I have a couple of LED's out in the drivers door lock so i'm looking for information on how I can actually get to the circuit board bit, I can get it out of the door and have removed all the screws I can find that hold it together but I am loathed to try to prize the board out from below the rocker switches because it feels tight enough to perhaps have something else securing it, anyone throw any light on it? Secondly, I saw a 2001 with a remote start on it and wondered if it's possible to do that to my 1997 model? I think that the key may have a chip in it so perhaps this might complicate matters but other than that, i'm just guessing. Any idea's anyone? Cheers, Dave
  7. Sorted, found one in the UK (from fleabay) for £25. On to next problem, a cosmetic one this time, the rear spoiler has several of the LED's out, is there a knack to removing the spoiler as undoing the retaining bolts just don't seem to do it. Cheers Dave
  8. Thanks for that Colin, i'll have a look aver the weekend and if all else fails, piasek's suggestion seems favorite, one of the problems i'm anticipating will be that it will look too new againsed the rest of the engine bay until I can get it cleaned properly over the summer that is.
  9. Any chance that this one will fit? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Coolant-Expansion-Tank-Toyota-Camry-3-0-L-Lexus-ES300-2002-2003-/321872239062?hash=item4af11499d6:g:VmAAAOSwuTxWADtf
  10. Hi all, I'm new to the LOC but i've had a wander around the site and you all seem like a really good (and knowledgable) bunch. I have just aquired my first GS300 Sport and I love it, it does however need one or two bits and some TLC, I dare say I have only just scratched the surface and there's still quite a long way to go. Right now I just have one urgent requirement, if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. My Expansion tank seems to have rotted away at the top, I'm pretty sure that it cannot be repaired but i'm having trouble locating one, does anyone know where I might get my hands one one? Cheers, Dave
