  1. Nope. Definitely pads only. Have obtained numerous quotations from various dealers, with comparable results, circa £1100 - £1200. Yes I could fit them myself, but it is the cost of the pads, not the cost of fitting, that is the issue here. Predominately gentle road use. Occasionally the odd but short circuit blast when no one is looking, yet still with measured and sympathetic braking as it's my own car. But to be honest, the rate of wear does not concern me unduly - again, it is the component cost. Didn't see for myself, but completely agree it would be prudent to do so. From a professional perspective, I am a massive advocate of original, genuine and correct parts for cars, ESPECIALLY braking components in something a bit lively.. I am struggling to see how LS460 pads at £50 might be the same as RC-F pads at £500, and need to find some time to investigate further. However if that is indeed the case, then somebody at Lexus GB has got a lot of explaining to do.
  2. Discs fine. Pads are original and currently 2mm front and 3-4mm rear after 15,000 miles. Quoted thus far £1200 including sensors, VAT and fitting.
  3. Anybody had brake pads fitted to their RC-F recently? I'm shopping around for prices. I have lost faith in my local dealer as it would appear they have quoted me replacement pads for a Bugatti Chiron.
  4. Actually spotted another RC. Like mine it was an "F" and in the same colour. Ran in convoy for a brief moment and got my son to take this terrible photo. It cant be everyday you see two unrelated but identical RCFs cars coincidentally running line-astern.
  5. BMW new 8-Series

    When I saw this 8 series concept car I was immediately struck by its similarity to contemporary Aston Martins from the side, and to the LC500 from the rear.
  6. Had a spin in a LC500 (Sport+V8) today. For any of you that might be interested, the points that struck me personally were.... - Super smooth and quick transmission, much more so than 8 speed SDS in the RCF. - Engine nice and vocal under load, slightly higher pitch than RCF. - Extremely good ride quality (especially considering run-flat Michelin Pilot SS) - Dynamic rear steering very apparent with quick inputs at even low/middling speeds. Takes a little getting use to, and it's not exactly a natural sensation, but the way the back follows the front round is makes the car feel as though it has a much shorter wheelbase. Quite fun really. - Like GSF & FCF siblings, the punchy high end power contrasts with the slightly languid mid range. - Brake pedal might have a slightly odd feeling squishy-yet-sharp-non-linear set up, but would need to play with it more really before saying anything further really. - The boot is not exactly commodious. LC500h is smaller still, for obvious reasons. - Zilch rear legroom. RCF palatial in comparison. - Nice sharp infotainment graphics, but the screen is bit shallow. - Cool door handles, liked them. - Black interior a bit drab. But then the tan is a bit too much the other way. And why is the fabulous blue/orange in the Launch Edition only!?! Overall, a really attractive, beautifully civilised and polished GT (not sports) car. Lovely.
  7. Wallace - I had exactly the same issues as yourself. Knew I was doing everything correctlty, as advised, but the bloody thing just wouldn't work. Then, before I knew it and for no logical reason, it all just began working perfectly. Keep trying.
  8. What are the odds of driving down a small North East London suburban back street in an Azure Blue RC-F on a crisp and chilly January morning and having to squeeze past another Azure Blue RC-F coming the other way? Was it anybody on here? I am off to buy a lottery ticket.

    Seemingly decent value undoubtedly, even without Sunroof, ACC/PCS and Torque Vectoring Differential. Don't think the bonnet on this car is carbon though, despite the description.
  11. This is interesting. Both I, and a team of knowledgeable professional drivers I work with, have experienced a similar symptom in RC 200T on some track based events. I should stress is wasn't a two second delay - probably a little less than half that. The RC Fs we used did not suffer on circuit. We collectively surmised it was a characteristic deliberately engineered into the vehicle to protect Toyota/Lexus from litigious American drivers experiencing "unintended acceleration" (arguably known also as driver incompetence). You may recall in 2009 there was a high profile and contentious case in the States, long after the IS F was developed. I have been on the road in my RCF for a few days now and, away from the track, I do feel a hesitancy to drop gears and accelerate at part or inconsistent throttle application in ECO mode certainly, and possibly normal mode (need to check that), but not Sport S or Sport S+ modes. This hesitancy is overcome by a deliberate and notable throttle application leading to intended acceleration. Exactly how much throttle application varies between the modes.

If you are struggling in your search for a nearly new example, you may wish to do as I did and ask your dealer to ascertain what's soon coming off Lexus GB's demo/press fleet before they are auctioned off or otherwise made available to the retail network. Mine is now on the driveway and, on the whole, I'm rather pleased. I have driven various RC Fs over the last 18 months or so, but as these occasions were typically away from the public highways, I had almost forgotten their on-road civility. We have all read the uncomplimentary track reviews against the obvious competitors, but back in the real world, on real roads, and over a typical ownership period, I am not convinced that the RC F is dynamically surpassed by its rivals. Niggles? Whilst still edible, the navigation has passed its sell-by date, and my extensive efforts to hook up to the archaic Lexus Disconnected Services have not been entirely successful. Range looks like it might be an issue. A permanently erect rear spoiler and a minor dash rattle warrant a trip back to the local Lexus centre for my particular car. Positives? Tasty performance when it's required from that top-endy V8, arresting aesthetics, the aforementioned civility, and not being pigeonholed as a throttle-blipping-alpha male-AM4G-driving pillock.
  13. Thank you for the welcome, MNMJ, and I'll certainly keep an eye on that ISF forum. I suppose a quiet forum is a reflection of the scarcity of these cars, but exclusivity was one of several reasons I selected an RC F in the first place. This particular one is an Azure non-carbon example with all the trimmings, and hasn't appeared on sale as it's been sourced indirectly from Lexus GB's fleet before it hit the retail network. There is no particular tangible advantage acquiring the car in this manner, it is just the right spec, at a reasonable deal at the right time. I must now exercise some resolve and stop looking at everything that comes on the market from now on, as only despair will ensue. It's rather like buying an HD TV and seeing it for sale 6 months later for half the price.

Whilst the population of the entire planet waits anxiously to discover who will be the next leader of the free world, I have far more pressing matters to divert my attention; namely the imminent arrival of my RC F. So, as I wait impatiently for the bloody thing to finally turn up, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself on here. Hello. Good to meet you all. Nice cars aren't they? This seems to be the only UK forum for these cars, or have I missed something? As a fresh-faced newcomer looking in, my thoughts are that the club/forum might benefit from an independent "F" section for individual models, or at least IS/RC/GS models combined. Just thinking out loud, so to speak. This is gonna be good.........
