  1. You might just have bad luck with both batteries. I've bought two Excite batteries, first to my Chevy Van. That lasted one camshaft break-in and driving from garage to street to reverse vehicle inside garage and two years standing - listening music and recharging regularly. Second is, again, Excite for RX400h, that lasted about half year and stopped charging to full. It was diagnosed to have one collapsed cell and replaced by warranty. I'm guessing Van's Excite suffered even more massive collapsing. RX battery is running strong now over half years so all is good eventually. These were normal batteries, not AGM. Next batteries will be AGM or Li-Ion. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  2. I've installed Polish kit and our 2008 RX400h was tough cookie with reverse... until realized that its wiring goes from lift gate motor harness Then extended reverse wire and routed it passenger side to harness and soldered Y-junction. Just pull off seal and push wire under upholstery, then remove rubber gusset for connecting. Don't remember wire coloring but it's easy to check by removing inner panel to access reverse bulb. As all is open better swap all traditional bulbs... Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  3. Absolutely no problem. I've been towing equivalent camping trailer behind RX400h. Plenty of power, newer stuck on slippery surface thanks to AWD. It's little more "bouncy" compared to my Chevy Van which is longer and equivalent weight but little more air to tires helps some. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  4. We've got 2008 model and it supports BT handsfree but no audio. Purchased good quality BT cassette and using Android with Here WeGo app for navigation. I'm putting my phone on top of dash display where it stays quite well. Phone is paired so that handsfree is to RX and audio to cassette. Navigation assist works great while listening Spotify etc... 5. Thanks GSLV6, working sensors are in summer wheelset which need new rubber anyways, working to convince wife to do with European all season tires like Michelin Latitude Cross which have been great also winter time in my Chevy Van. Btw, this RX supports two sets of tires with TPMS sensors, that's why trying to get two sets working properly. One option is to visit dealer, they could also setup it for metric units and update North American maps tuo Scandinavian ones. Just don't like this and it'll cost too much to my taste as I'm more hands on diy type anyways. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  6. My problem is winter wheelset without sensors or their wrong programming thus warning light. And all I've tried to self program new sensors or read summer wheelset sensors are failing. Ateq tech support suggested odd shorting of OBD2 connector pins to put computers in programming mode but that didn't help. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  7. I've learned that my 2008 RX 400h US import should be programmable with Ateq TPM QuickSet. Despite properly installed Win10 drivers, upgrading QuickSet firmware and selecting correct vehicle, it doesn't read current summer wheelset sensors nor program winter set sensors. What takes? What caveats there is known or best tips & procedures ? I've also got OBD2 USB cable but lacking working software... Thanks in advance for anything helping to get rid of TPMS dash fault lights. 8. My experiences about just weeks ago bought same model are that 12v battery capacity isn't much to write home about but when engine is eventually started all is fine. Not much is needed, cigarette lighter jump cable, small portable 12v power source etc. 12v is required to get computers awake, then engine is started from high voltage hybrid drive battery. Don't get that flat... then there is easy much more to do... Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  9. My TPMS sensors were sub-$20 a pop, including ATEQ tool to program & manage sensors yours were little expensive to put least. Of course if all from dealership then... What comes to RX, not very experienced owner but for us this fresh 2008 RX 400h AWD proved to be top quality vehicle... Right now driving it in Finnish winter, just -22°C outside and dashboard shows -6F... Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  10. I've installed polish tow bar kit with 13-pin connector to 2008 US-import RX400h. It took me three workday evenings where most time was consumed in unbolting trunk stuff and removing bumper. Then hardware install took about half hour... and completing electricals was about one afternoon as finding fog light and reverse wires was painful ands then to wire amp box to constant 12v avoiding to go through firewall or underneath vehicle. If installing another I would estimate half workday effort. And that polish kit wasn't expensive and fits very nicely... Fixed hitch is almost status symbol for hybrid... 11. My -08 RX400h is US import and got factory tow option installed. Practically this means venting emblem, trans cooler and 4-pin connector in trunk somehow connected to 30A fuse in engine bay. This factory wiring wasn't helping at all installing of the 13-pin tow bar kit, hardest wires to find were reverse (available only in rear door wire pack) and rear fog light (locally wired to meet import regulations). Polish tow bar kit installed pretty easily in my garage but cutting plastic shields around bumper was little tricky. This kit has so sturdy hardware I don't have anything doubt it's rated 2000 kg capacity. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  12. Our recently bought RX400h has 18" summer wheelset and 17" winter set. Latter has good tires but no TPMS sensors. Former needs new set of rubber for next summer. As RX is quite heavy I'm seriously considering to invest mid-European winter tires like Michelin Latitude Cross 235/55R18 which is 100H weight class. I've got these tires in use in my Chevy Van in size of 235/75R15 and for heavier vehicle these perform well in summer roads still provide nice traction on snowy roads during Finnish winter. Best part is wet performance both summer and winter where these will beat all Nordic winter tires. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  13. Why not. RX is rated for 2000kg trailer and at least 75kg nose weight. I've just installed polish tow bar kit with 13-pole socket and it's good for 100kg nose weight. I don't see why rear motor or diff or suspension would have any trouble handling these nose weights if trailer is otherwise balanced properly. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  14. @lurch good finding. I've spent some time finding good alternative for current standard 45Ah 12v battery... Thinking to invest little better AGM type as these hybrids don't benefit much great cranking amps but would have good use for better deep discharge performance of AGM. It seems 2gen Prius is good keyword when hunting AGM batteries... Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
