  1. That might be a premium rate number that your provided may have blocked for you? ( could be stupid like upto £7:50 per minute)
  2. Things go horribly wrong horribly fast when it’s wet and that’s when you want as much ‘help’ as poss! So +1 on the rain rating being right up there on specs.
  3. Tim, your profile states your 250c is 2009, so is that a disc (DVD media update) based system or a HD (SD card media) one as this is about the time when it changed, bearing in mind your car was built in Japan way before it was registered in the UK.
  4. Far too many variables as to which tyre is ‘Best’ in my opinion, as long as it last a good while ( haaaa mine will prob Rot before they Wear out!), and They do not present me with any ‘surprises’ when used normally I’ll be content, again my Normal will not be same as everyone else’s Normal so like I said far to many variables and even a survey from a reputable source just adds fuel to the fire. ( That’s just my two penny worth and I’ll say no more about tyres again, promise because I just got 2 Dunlop’s for £240🙄😂
  5. Today was the day the boys at the local garage had to lift up the petticoat on the ‘old girl’ and rummage around in her nether regions to to allow her to sit on my drive for another 12 months!!! ( at approx 2500-3000 miles per year, she could out live Me!) Note to self, “try and use the best car you’ve ever owned MORE!!” And not the 21 year old Mondeo, talking of Mondeo, it’s last MOT had a HC of 198 ppm 🤔
  6. If there is ( or gearbox ECU thinks there is) a problem it will not let you do any potential damage by using the ‘flappy paddles’ the ECU is between them and the gearbox and should over-ride the paddles.
  7. “You know ( now, or very soon ) it makes sense” to opt for a slightly more expensive 250 over a cheaper 220 as the 220 may cost you dearly in the long term and the 250….very unlikely to👍
  8. IS gearbox solenoid problem discussed here and fluid change appears to have sorted it!
  9. If they (Lexus) are pointing towards Gearbox Solenoids then get the error codes in writing and start with the cheapest things first, ie atf change. check this thread
  10. Lexus parts direct ( IIRC is the on-line section of Lexus Swindon!) can do a Battery for the 250 for £78+£6 p+p So the dealers where you are should’nt be a million miles different 😂😂😂
  11. I’m getting two Dunlop Sport Maxx RT 2 on the rear ( 245/45 17 95Y) tomorrow for £237. Spent about 30mins searching and decided that was about right.
  12. FYI New Bosch 068 S4 can be got for about £84 here. https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/bosch/s4026/
  13. +1 on having a perfect battery before trying to diagnose electrical niggles ( especially on a 250, it seems to be very picky on voltage requirements)
  14. I would deffo go for a refund as this ‘cheap’ car may cost you a lot in the future just to keep it doing what it should! An extra £1000 spent on a 250 now will pay dividends ( just my opinion but check out the number of posts in the ‘Engine, Transmission Section’ that relate to the 220!)
  15. Hope Jsizzy isn’t a one post wonder! FYI this engine does tend to plume a lot of condensation from the rear end for quite a while sometimes ( even when fully warmed up) so don’t confuse this with ‘smoke’ which is generated from the products of oil being burned, you haven’t got a physical oil leak at all have you? To account for the oil loss!
  16. “I just bought” was it like that when you bought it?, ie super low price because it has an obvious problem or has it just started happening? I do not know much ( apart from 220D is known to be problematic as far as a derv engine goes ) about the possible fix for this but ‘just bought’ would have me going back to seller!
  17. Manual …you say! ….none of my business but why a manual when the auto has lots of plus points?
  18. If the main bus bar has been damaged by reverse polarity being applied ( ie battery connected wrong way round, even for a split second!) then you will need to replace busbar unit in main fuse board under bonnet. You can normally actually see where it has failed by looking closely at silver metal construction in fuse board.
  19. Classic car owners tend to leave something like a CTEK battery charging/condition unit connected 24/7.
  20. Read & Discuss!…… https://apple.news/AXjj7Cy2pRayLT6NboDN7dw
  21. You want .co.uk Not .com https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/
  22. This was my fist auto car in 40 years and it is the best car I’ve ever owned ( and I have had new cars back in the 80’s) I don’t think you should struggle to get a good auto version, as the auto was a more popular version than the manual. And I do feel that owners of these cars ( and Lexus in general) tend to be more careful/responsible motorist and look after them so don’t be disheartened by the poor example ( there is always an exception to the rule) that you recently stood in front of ( been there-done that and soon after got to purchase my ideal motor!)
