  1. Never heard this noise before and have had the car for nearly a year now and its been running great (apart from the PCS system errors occasionally) Will monitor it over the next few weeks, seemed to start in really cold spell there. Car now booked in at Lexus Glasgow on 02/04 so will see what mechanics come up with - maybe its normal - hope so.
  2. Hi, I have just noticed this ticking noise over the past few weeks on start up of my 2008 IS F(59K miles), the noise goes away almost immediately after the revs have settled back down about 12 seconds following start up (or else the ticking is quieter and I am not hearing it inside car?) Appears to come from drivers side near bulkhead going by level of noise. I am just about to go in for a minor service / airbag recall and will ask them to confirm the ticking noise issue, I thought it may be HP fuel pump issue but a bit concerning now if it could be exhaust manifold related. Hope the warranty may cover this but being exhaust related it might not? Will update the forum if I get a definite fault identified when it gets serviced at start of April. The gar otherwise runs great only other fault I get is PCS system errors intermittantly which are a bit of a pain - I will get them to check the front sensor functions correctly.
  3. 58 plate with 59K and still puts a smile on my face when opening it up! Long live open empty roads and nearly 30mpg - 17mpg round the streets not so good
  4. Hi Peter, Thanks for this advice, I believe my 2008 ISF has a normal UK grille, not sure the difference between the two types of badge so I can't comment on the grille badge fitted to mine at present. Next time the car is in the dealership I am going to insist they check the sensor for ingrained dirt so that there is nothing that could be blocking the sensor path through the badge. I still am covered by extended warranty so hopefully if any parts are required then that should be covered. Cheers,
  5. Hi all, Have been getting occasional alarms on dash displaying PCS not available and amber warning light coming on then clearing later, sometimes after 1 mile or could last up to 10 miles. It happens normally when there is no traffic in front of me on open road sections. Weirdly it can happen at the same point on roads I drive on even although it is not GPS related? When at dealership they said there was no standing alarms but as usual it never happens when the car is in garage as it clears by then. dead annoying as it may be covered under the extended warranty but needs to be a permanent fault to get any further. Anyone else experienced this issue, any ideas hope to clear it? I have cleaned the Lexus badge which the sensor is mounted behind and there does not seem to be anything behind front grille that would be interfering with signal. The cruise control will not operate when the alarm is standing as it is radar controlled from the sensor. Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi Sham, spoke to Suhail earlier today who is from that area and had traded the ISF into Lexus Manchester which is now no more - Lexus Stockport or Bolton nearest dealers. He said that he wanted to buy the ISF back but had been too late as i already had secured car - he sold it as he was travelling over 20,000 miles per year and fuel bill was too much. He confirmed the car was mint and it had been sold onto last owner as fully approved 5+ Lexus used car so had full brake replacement + 4x tyres changed - good result for me - plenty of wear left (5.5mm +) although tyres are only Maxxis brand - will move onto Potenzas or Michelins when they are worn out. Will follow forums advice and put at least 50% of super through when i can - not available locally - nearest Esso garage is 50 miles away - Esso + Shell are main fuel merchants on Scottish west coast. Thanks, Craig
  7. Hi,only set the car up with half the taxiway available and wanted to dab the brakes to slow it down so as not to coat the alloys in brake dust or overheat brakes. So will use the full length (over 3 miles) on next trial run to see what extra it has got - probably should increase tyre pressures too as book suggests - running at 36psi just now. It can fair shift but the distance comes up quick at those speeds - need to watch out for deer kicking about as well - don't fancy hitting one above 100mph never mind over 150. Taxiway was shimmering in sun so difficult to see properly at that speed will wait for overcast day to try again. Plenty of grunt from V8 and pulled all the way up - lovely motor - lucky to have he opportunity on the empty taxiway when i get the chance
  8. ResultBorder cars have come up trumps and fully paid for my leaking water pump and missing part from pollen filter.Just had work completed at Lexus Glasgow yesterday and also replaced air filter so everything new and car running well. Got over 30mpg getting home at 60+mph with very little traffic to hold me back from 140 mile run home. Completed a full speed test run (in auto mode) on RAF Machrihanish immaculate taxiway on 1.5 mile section and got it up to 151mph with no effort, super smooth car - steady as a rock!! Just spoken to previous owner but one and he reassures me the car is mint with no issues - well impressed by my purchase and hope the Lexus reliability + MPG keeps up compared with BMW / Porsche + Mercedes alternatives. Only trouble is transferring my private plate over as DVLA says that the car was off road being sold for an extended period at previous traders (either Lexus Manchester or Border Cars) so have at least another 2 weeks wait. Thanks to all help from forum so far, great group to be a member of Does super unleaded help at all or will i just stick with normal 95 branded fuel????????????
  9. Hi Sham, just picked up the car yesterday and was going through its 60+ K service today. Everything went OK except there was a bit of the pollen filter housing was missing which has been ordered in (cost £41.00 fitted) not sure why this was missing? also have managed to get a 2 year warranty to take it just passed the 10 year mark from Lexus so that is good news +2 year service price of £606.00 .Only issue was the mechanics found a leak from water pump and recommended replacement at just over £502.00 fitted so not covered by warranty as highlighted before being taken out going to speak to dealer who sold me the car and ask him for contribution for repair as this should have been pointed out before purchase for both items. Great running car, standard back boxes now refitted and custom ones sold on by previous owner, still a great noise when opening her up, well impressed, thanks for info.
  10. Could that be a slight hint to age there Paul when you have the temperature set to Fahrenheit on the dash? not that I would ever want to take down a fellow "F" owner especially not one with the faster silver version, the others all secretly want one!!!
  11. Many stories of American SEAL's over the years getting up to things they shouldn't have and crashing - mainly boats + breaking bones with late parachute openings - I digress. Not sure when runway would be open again for next public use - but will update you Mark if I get contact for random use - it is not that often that vehicles get on - will let you know. Will borrow dash cam - Mark - if I get an opportunity to open it up on runway and post results
  12. Hi Mark, RAF Machrihanish used to be owned by MOD / US Navy SEAL team operated from this base before it closed as operational base and has been taken over by MACC, a private firm renting out land / buildings. The runway has been used for MACC rally stage and is sometime available for private cars to open up and test without fear of getting ticket! or running into someone - apart from maybe local deer!! It is used only twice daily for Flybe service in from Glasgow and was the reserve runway for space shuttle, I think it was longest in UK and second longest in Europe so should be able to get to maybe full speed? and safely stop again!! Thanks for welcome
  13. Morning, have just been on phone to Border Cars and their mechanics have confirmed that the Lexus IS F was taken in and photographed initially with custom back boxes in place. The garage would not sell the car on with this exhaust arrangement so the original back boxes have been replaced. I was sure that the standard Lexus system was on the car when I test drove it?? - it was very quite at low revs. Thank to Lockeyboy (Mark) for the eagle eyes on the photos and all the other members for their positive comments - A great forum so far - excellent help / comments from all. The SILVER IS F's are spreading out to all corners of the UK - looking forward to giving it a blast on the local runway at RAF Machrihanish where I can legally boot it to see how well it goes (runway well over 3 miles long and empty - most of the time anyway!) Cheers.
  14. Gents, thanks for the observant comments regarding the exhaust tips - i can see by comparing it against a standard IS F exhaust that it does look like a custom exhaust tail section.I will look closely when collecting the car, hopefully it is a quality stainless alternative and i will not need to do anything to it for a while.Blew most of my available budget buying it and allowing for big service / warranty / 2 year service plan. Maybe return it to stock after? hopefully it is quiet enough at tick over - don't want to upset the neighbours too much - for just now anyway!!
  15. Hi Mark, yes it is the one advertised at Border Cars, didn't notice any issue with exhaust tips going over it a couple of weeks ago but it is meant to be ready and will be in their showroom for collection on Mon 03/04 so I will check over this carefully before final payment. Thanks
