  1. Just made the mistake this morning of sitting with my passenger door open for 25 mins whilst flying my drone. Battery flat and unable to start. Fortunately I carry a small lithium jump pack and that got me away. Battery currently on trickle charge.
  2. Had mine in for 80k service and mot last week. Failed the mot on parking brake!
  3. Got mine done eventually, £120 at a local installer. Also had the wheels powder coated too.
  4. I live in Newcastle. When they moved from Benton Road (which was very good) I called Silverlink about a used car (I had a CT at the time and wanted an IS), and when they answered they said Ason Martin. I said I am after Lexus and they said they were busy and could I call back. I didnt. Second time I called about a different enquiry I got a similar response and decided they wouldnt get a third chance, so tried Teesside and had a totally different experience. So I bought the car from them together with extra warranty and service plan and then they changed to Stoneacre. Silverlink would be much closer but I will stick with Teesside until the service plan and paid warranty runs out next year. When I say independant, I mean a main dealer not owned by an organisation like Stoneacre. We purchased a new Suzuki for my wife and she is having the same experience, telling her she needed an air conditioning disinfectant bomb on top of her first service. She declined then was hassled to purchase something else. All we want to do is call the garage and book the car in. I will be making this clear when I visit the garage in January. Also getting charged insurance on the loan car which I didnt in the past. They should include this in the service plan.
  5. I bought my car from Lexus Teesside before they merged into the Stoneacre group. Now I have to speak with staff at a contact centre who havent got a clue about my car, as well as being more concerned about upselling me something I dont want or need. I still have a year left of my used car warranty left and would like to know if there are any independant Lexus dealerships?
  6. No, it was done locally at an independant. I think he meant factory tint spec.
  7. The locking wheel nuts are on my list of to do's. I am going to take them off and paint them black. I was looking for some plastic covers for them as I have for the wheel nuts but am struggling to get the right size. Cross climates are always my preferred choice of tyres. No complaints. I used the Wheel Specialist in Newcastle for the wheels. They arent the cheapest, but having used them before, I really like the finish, and they are only about 2 miles from my hose, so can drop the car and walk home. The trim was mentioned by the guy who did my windows. He wraps the trim. I am not so sure though as I like the chrome grill.
  8. Just had my wheels and windows done black to match the rest of the car. Undecided whether to de chrome the side trims as well, or leave them chrome.
  9. I was apprehensive putting it on originally as it began to get sticky when polishing, so reduced the time on the car to a few minutes. Also didnt have a proper applicator either, the eye pad thing that came with it was tiny.
  10. I prepped and coated my car with Shelby ceramic coating and use their own shampoo, not the chepest but seems to make the coating last.Been on a year now and water still beads like day 1.
  11. Got my 7 year service done at Lexus Teeside yesterday together with discs and pads all round (ouch!) The brakes were absolutely shot after 57k miles and although the pads were renewed before I bought it 5000 miles ago, they really should have done the lot. If I braked from speed they made a terrible noise and pulsed when slowing down right to a standstill. Absolutely fine now, which they should be. Got a UX 300e loan car which I was impressed with. Top spec and very comfortable, although i think range would be an issue for me, and the fact I havent got £50k lying around to buy one.
  12. I will give it a bash as I only drive 3 miles and back to work and rarely go fast. Got 3 years warranty on it but thought they would try and get out of it due to being a wearing part.
  13. Just recently I am getting pulsing through the pedal when braking, feels like it could be a warped disc. Only done around 3k since I bought it, Lexus approved. I noticed they had fitted new pads when I bought it but the discs were old. Anyone else had this? 2015 model. Its not pulling to one side or anything, just not smooth braking.
  14. I used Chemical Guys wipe out surface cleansing spray to clean the paint after I used the machine polish which was Meguires 205. Then I applied the ceramic coat. Raining this morning and the water is running off nicely.
  15. I already corrected it when I bought it as the dealer had done a terrible job as there were holograms and trails all over it. Just needed a polish this time. Polished then used a polish remover before the ceramic. I did my wifes new car straight from the garage with the same stuff and it is realy good, water just sheets off.
  16. Dry and sunny at last! Washed dried, decontaminated and clayed before machine polish and Shelby ceramic coat. Love the way the matallic black glistens in the sunshine!
  17. Mine did this when I bought it. Cured by a new set of Michelin Cross Climates.
  18. I just saw the metallised quote on one of the places that does it. Definately just want black, nothing fancy. Out of interest, what is the percentage on standard fit?
  19. Has anyone had aftermarket window tints done? I read that some of the tints were metalised and wonder if this could affect the DAB radio aerial in the rear screen. My CT had factory tints which I liked, and my IS is black so I think would suit them.
  20. Does anyone know the formula of the rubber in Karcher hoses? Interested how they make the hose, so when you uncoil it so its straight, then walk around the car and find its curled up again?
