  1. Make sure you put it up here too. We like an IS300 Sportcross
  2. If you're concerned about cost that's going to cost you nearly £600 a year to tax. Odd apples, oranges or bananas thread.
  3. I've bought and sold six cars privately since this **** show started. All depends on your attitude to risk and the precautions you take. The world has to continue turning.
  4. You and me Phil. And we're not going to invite any of those people 👆 to our mini meets.
  5. The facelift 250 is rare full stop. And certainly the one I'd go for.
  6. Hi Frank. Welcome to the dark side You're welcome to post up some pics of the 3er.
  7. I think that once this becomes more widely known there probably will be an effect on the value of non-compliant cars. But I'm OK with that because I don't do huge miles anyway and already use V Power or whatever the equivalent is. However, I think that the premium stuff will probably rise in price too as it becomes more niche and I wouldn't be surprised if changes are made to the ethanol content at some point.
  8. Good advice. I managed to get 2.5l out of my LS400 because it was lifted at the front. And not sure about the 430 but on the LS400 and GS300 once you're familiar with the position of the gearbox sump plug you don't even need to get under the car if you have a long enough drive handle.
  9. Fair enough. There is a fault with some of these GS that the connection and disconnection of an OBD reader can trigger those warnings as soon as you move off. If you've never connected one then it doesn't matter.
  10. Have you connected an OBD reader recently? Doesn't entirely fit the pattern I'm thinking of but could be related.
  11. I think they should both come on as you turn the ignition but extinguish as the car starts. Is that what you mean?
  12. I'm always wary of the interior lights on my LS. They don't fade out when you leave the doors open so I keep that in mind when I'm cleaning or working on it. And putting the key in and out of the ignition and triggering the motor for the steering wheel. Probably me being over cautious but I flattened the battery on my old GS after spending a couple of days messing with it.
  13. I've had both my AZ jabs. After the first one I was a bit off the next day. Second one, not a thing.
  14. I've never been convinced for the need for snow foam either. A bit of fun more than anything else imo.
  15. Well I gave it a bit of a wash. I've a feeling someone had gone over it with some of that coloured polish Have to say, driving it I'm very much reminded of my IS300. Interior is where the work is but that'll have to wait until Sunday. The youngest wants gerbils...
  16. Ah, we'll see. But I doubt it. Re: the cloning and Stuart's problems. It is all very odd but a 2000 GS? Something definitely amiss but who on earth would clone one of those? I wish I could remember the details but when I bought the RX there was an oddity with the tax. I didn't have to tax it for a good few months after I'd bought and driven around in it. I honestly can't remember the convoluted story, something to do with it being registered to trade but that's all I've got. If it was me and the car is showing as taxed I'd leave it as is. No tax until September!
  17. All very bizarre. I always use both the online ownership change doo daa and tax. All done and dusted instantly. For example, I bought the Honda last Sunday and we transferred the ownership online. V5 dropped through my letterbox Thursday. I held back on taxing with the green slip reference number until Thursday morning because I wanted a full month. And previous owner doesn't have to apply for the unused tax, it's issued automatically.
  18. Isn't the gearbox and how it performs exactly the same? I always assumed F-Sports were like BMW's M Sport compared to their standard SE. Cosmetic differences and firmer suspension.
  19. Noted. Thank you. The drive back was (luckily) uneventful! Making comparisons with Lexus, the engine at 130k miles feels extremely tight with virtually seamless shifts of the auto gearbox. Interior trim quality certainly isn't up there with Lexus. Maybe comparable with Toyota? I don't know. But like other Japanese brands not a squeak or a rattle anywhere. First job is to give it a damn good clean. The previous owner was the racing driver Mark Hales, clearly more interested in driving than cleaning which is no bad thing as the car is in excellent mechanical condition and was serviced recently and subject to a complete suspension refresh. I'll probably do a few gearbox drain and fills as it's a bit of a weak spot and I'll consider a timing belt change as there's no history of one being done. That's about it really. Apart from telling Freda who owns that red car outside the house...
  20. Had a rather satisfying day myself. New pads and discs on the front of the Saab plus and Abbott Racing sub-frame brace which will hopefully firm things up a bit. Took it for a quick run, I'm still alive and nothing fell off so hopefully I've done everything correctly.
