I find it amazing that a relatively cheap Sony car stereo with RDS which I bought for my Vauxhall Nova in the mid nineties would change the time automatically when the clocks changed. Why oh why oh why can't Lexus do something similar?

The factory fit units in my 17 and 18 year old Saabs are the same. Turn on the radio, the clocks change. More than a little amused by this thread

  2. You might get lucky on eBay but sellers usually want to sell the entire unit and as the problem is common with cars this age the actual glass can be as bad as yours. You may still be able to get the glass from a dealer but that will be £££. If it's the same as the 400h then I know the glass was still available up until recently.

Unfortunately your only option might be non-genuine stick on glass. It goes over the original and I'm told the heat still works but obviously not the auto dimming.

  3. Another update to this.

I didn't stay in the IS300, my father insisted his driving was "fine" and carried on pottering about in it. Sadly he now has an Alzheimer's diagnosis and will have to give up.

So this will be going up for sale sooner rather than later. If anyone's interested give me a shout.

I live in a relatively low crime area but still feels wrong leaving it unlocked (to be on the safe side).

Can you not lock and unlock with the key? My LS had no fob at all when I first got it and until I sourced one I just used the key in the driver's door.

Hi everyone, hello again. I was a member years ago, and have recently returned to the LS400 fold (I missed them too much!) getting a 1998 DHP in Bronze from a lovely chap in Cheshire.

    N40LEX btw

That'll be Rich Scott's old car. He's never been a member on here but he's a good friend of mine.

  5. Why the conspiracy theories?

What indication is there that the OP is a trader that bought a dud? Absolutely none.

Not everyone joins owners forums, quite often people who join don't come back after posting once or twice, not everyone who's bought a Lexus posts here and more importantly not every owner knows the ins and outs of engine maintenance.

This isn't the first time this has happened. It's bizarre.

A salesperson is hardly likely to introduce a negative note when selling the car - even presuming that it’s something they’re aware of themselves.

Quite. Look how many low mileage/low speed potential customers are suckered into buying a diesel over a petrol because all they see is 60mpg vs 40mpg or whatever. Then they can't understand why the dash lights up like a Christmas tree after a few months.

  7. I'd say £4000 for a non-runner is ridiculous.

After the IS, RX, GS and LS I came close to buying a Soarer a couple of times but the lack of parts for the mundane stuff (especially electrics) made me give up.

Hi Kev, any chance this is your Dad's car? It's a real beauty. A question for all, do you think it's advertised for a fair price? I am tempted

Seriously considered that one back in September but went for my 9-5 instead.

Buy a "dongle" from AAWireless- a small 2 inch square box, about 1/4 thick which connects to one of the usb s in the armrest and connects to your phone automatically when you get into the car.Mine has worked perfectly.

Do not buy a similar product from Carlinkit. It does not work properly and their customer service is hopeless.

I've been using one in the Subaru for the last 10 months or so. Agree it works well.
