I think the heating is down to temperature in the cabin. So if you've set it at 22 for example and it goes to 23 it'll blow in cold air to push it back down.

You realise you can use the infotainment system to change the temperature right?

My BMW never did this. It would blow slightly warmer or colder air to gradually cool the temperature down. On a long journey i never noticed it. The Lexus just blows cold air and gets noticeably colder in the cabin for a good few minutes.

I've maxed the IS out and it doesn't feel unstable at speed as someone else mentioned. Felt no different to a BMW 440i at speed tbh.

Probably due to tyres. I've replaced the dealer fit Bridgestones with Michelin PS4's and it's transformed the car. It was always good (no issues on motorway) but now it's a lot more planted and hugs curves better.

To answer OP, my biggest issues coming from a BMW (e60 520i) are:

    - Stupid automatic wipers stay on so next time you start the car in the rain the wipers 'wipe. Grand until the windscreen is frozen and you panic as the wipers self destroy themselves.

    - The heating is grand but on long journey's i find it randomly blows in cold air. So you are driving along all snug and cozy and then you are freezing... May just be my car though.

    - Stupid touch controls for heating. Can't use them with a glove on and they beep loudly, not good when you have a sleeping child in the car.

    - Radio turns off when you turn off the car. On a BMW it will stay on for a while until you lock the car.

    - Even worse you can't open/close the windows unless the car is on, not just accessory mode but ignition on. Stupid stupid design. My car has electric steering wheel which moves away when you turn car off. So every time i want to adjust the windows i have to turn the car on, which makes the wheel move.

    - I miss having everything controlled by iDrive. e.g. the tyre pressure monitoring.

Otherwise i love the car. Much more relaxing to drive than the BMW. I love the cvt for lack of gear transitions when driving.

  3. I took a long drive in the dark this week and i think the major problem is not the brightness of the lights. Instead the issue is that the aim is low and so they don't light up as much of the road in front as previous cars. I tested this with the i3 and IS300H next to each other with dipped lights on. The i3 shone a few meters more ahead, just enough to make it feel 'brighter' while driving.

Has anyone tried to change the aim of the lights?

Or just remember to turn them off before switching the IGN off

I prefer to have to turn them on manually, if it starts raining (not every day of the year), than panicking when they wipe across a frozen screen. I'm not the only person who drives the car and can't always guarantee that they turned off the wipers. Plus it's not the first thing i think of when i get in the car and shouldn't be either.

All my BMW's worked this way and i prefer it to the way lexus works. Would be nice to have an option i could set to match BMW.

  5. On my IS300h the lights don't come on if i lightly press the pedal and it's only using regen braking. Not sure at lower speeds when that engages the actual brakes, i'll have to check.

In my view the regen braking is so slow that there is no need to put on the brake lights, it's equivalent of using engine braking. A driver who wouldn't notice you slowing down would either have to be very distracted or very bad and both should have no place on the road.

In Lexus Cork I did full service in April. Cost me about 360 euro. And they charged me 40 euro extra for firmware update (from VC03101B to VC03101G).

And I was hoping the dealer would be different than BMW. Ugh...  the same old overcharging... Anyway a fellow cork man. There’s not many of us driving lexii :)

I supposeafter you having a 3 series with I drive you can do a good comparison between the information systems. Personally I find the lexus system very response though I feel I may have a problem with the bluetooth side of things (new post coming) but everyone will have their own reviews on it. Enjoy.

What version of software do you have? If you bought from a dealer bring it back and get them to put the latest version on.

Shouldnt really be charged considering it used to be free.

I just prefer to not ask for freebies on my first visit to a dealer :) I already took a free  test drive then bought elsewhere.

I've read that the system gets updated when you update the maps. This 2015 car has 2013 maps so will buy an update. There is a company (satnavdvd) in UK that sells 2017 maps for 50 quid.
