  1. Thanks, very unlikely to be driving in anything like -7 (maybe, very occasionally -2/3). Don't get really bad winters on the south coast of UK 🙂
  2. Hi all Don't think I've needed to post since I got the car 5 years ago! However, now in the post-Covid world of happy motoring again (UK), I am in need of a new set of tyres. Saw the post last year about Michelin CrossClimate 2s but they seem like gold dust at any sort of reasonable price at the moment. Being told lots and don't know what to believe - summer tyres are good enough for all year, cheaper is just as good etc. So many variations too and a job to tell what the difference is. Looking at alternative Michelin, or Pirelli, Dunlop etc. at a price in the range £140-£175 including fitting. Not into mail order as the local fitters have a terrible reputation so no BlackCircle or similar please. What and where to get them from? Suggestions? Thanks everyone
  3. Just a quick further update - Lexus rationale for rejecting the warranty claim on the battery was that I hadn't done sufficient mileage to maintain the battery even with running it for an hour each week per their instructions. However, main dealer has now stepped in and said as a valued customer etc. etc. 😉 they will cover the cost of the battery and fitting for me to nothing to pay! I do have to give them 10/10 on their customer service survey though (no skin off my nose!) Result! Many thanks to Lexus Poole (Dorset), part of the Hendy Group.
  4. Hi all - years since I posted as until now, happy Lexus GS40h owner! However, now having same problem. Main deal fitted "their" Panasonic 28800-31281 battery in Dec 202 so less than two years ago which has now failed. Car used little during Covid but followed Lexus advice to run it for an hour a week - https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-hybrid-parked/ Now dealer is saying not under warranty and want £336 for new battery inc. fitting and vat - seems a bit excessive for my 2020 GS. Battery places say the model comes up as "manufacturer replacement only" which is why the likes of RAC/Halford etc. won't touch it but local battery guy says an 068 one should be ok if it fits and is quoting £80 inc fitting and vat. The only issues from what I've read here and elsewhere are the temp sensor which I understand to be to do with regulating temp during charging and the venting. I think, as others have done, I will take the plunge as, in the current economic climate (UK) I don't really want to be forking out to the main dealer although I have threatened a complaint to Lexus and Trading Standards to no avail even though they have benefitted from all the servicing over the last 5 years since I got the vehicle (not from a main dealer though). Anyone got any other comments positive or negative about switching to an 068 battery type?
  5. Issue resolved. There was a faulty connector on the abs module and this was preventing the code check for the battery test. Dealer sorted connector and now a fault-free battery test, yay !
  6. Bit of a weird one so interested to know if anyone has come across this. Got my 2010 450h at the beginning of Dec from independent trader (good rep). They agreed to pay for battery check but when they took it to main dealer were told that a reset had been performed and the car needed to do a couple of thousand miles before they could perform the check. I’ve now done the mileage so it was in for the check but they advised it couldn’t be done because an abs error was showing. They checked brakes and all was ok but couldn’t clear fault. Now has to go back for investigation (under warranty from trader) but I can’t think why an abs error stops a battery check ??? Anyone any thoughts ? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Yeh, I had a pretty full specced 750 as it was an ex embassy car. My GS is an SE but no moonroof (love how they call it that !) or ACC which is the thing I miss most. Also my heated steering wheel (I leave for work around 6am so really good in winter). I’m sure I will be a happy owner and maybe plan a trade in a couple of years down the line to get something with all the goodies 😄 The GS seems in good condition with 77800 miles. Waiting for main dealer to get a spare key and do a battery check which the retailing garage is paying for. Main dealer says they are not sure they can code it when they get it ??? Have identified satnav needs an update but not sure how I identify if it’s dvd or usb stick ?
  8. Hi all (About to be) new owner here. Just two days away from trading my 2006 750 Beamer for a 2010 GS450h SE. I realise it’s a little bit of a trade down and I’m going to be losing quite a few gadgets but generally looking forward to Lexus ownership. The Beamer has to go due to the dreaded valve stem seals problem but the Lexus seems a good buy. No sunroof or heated steering wheel and, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to have ACC. Is there any way of checking the “standard” gadgets for a specific model ? Garage has had the batteries checked at main dealer and will give it a service themselves. I basically do a daily round trip of 110 miles (motorway) for work, rest will be local round town driving at weekends. Will be wanting to update the satnav - think it’s usb - any recommendations to avoid dealer prices ? also, anyone recommend a good third party garage in Poole/Bournemouth area ? Cheers everyone. Have been browsing the forums and you seem a good bunch ! Kevin
