  1. Thank you all! I've since made the decision to go to standard (KYB) springs and dampers. Lexus don't have any stock of OEM springs. The chap I spoke with had no idea about DHP. The DHP springs were sagging so much, I was 20mm into the bump stop/spring aids. So there was no way to resurrect them! The new springs and dampers are great. But the biggest revelation has been fitting new steering rack bushes. Even torquing the older bushes higher on the clamps was a benefit. No more steering column shake. One day soon I'll do a long post on my chassis renewal if people are interested! Thanks again James
  2. If there are, please can you help me? I've recently reverted back to OEM spec KYB front dampers from Bilstein B6's which had been fitted by the previous owner. Ride is better, but it's running so low that on full lock or over a large bump I get rubbing of the tyre against the wheel arch liner. I'm now wondering if the previous owner had also fitted aftermarket springs. Could any DHP owners please measure the wire diameters of both the front and rear springs? I should know pretty quickly then... Thanks in advance, James
  3. Thank you for your reply - that assembly price is more reasonable than I thought! The piston skirt is scuffed where its rubbed on the crank (I didn't have a look on the counter weight for matching damage), but the big end machined surface in the crank looks OK to me. The bore seems OK too. I'll have a call with Lexus tomorrow to get prices. Is toyodiy a good place for part numbers? Thanks :)
  4. Morning all, Bit of an issue with my otherwise lovely 1998 LS, really hope someone can help! A leaky injector hydrolocked my VVTi engine - You can see the result below: A member from another (non-Lexus) car forum sent me some replacement pistons, but they're from a non VVTi engine, as you can see here (the more pocketed piston is from my engine): My question to the members on this forum - does anyone have a spare VVTi rod and piston assembly they're willing to send me for beer tokens? I spent all of last weekend getting the bent rod out on my parents' driveway, it was a bit of a nightmare to be honest! Had to strip the engine down, then hoist it up whilst dropping the subframe so that I could remove number 1 oil pan. It would be a real shame now that I've got to this stage to give up, but it's starting to feel like it might go that way :( Really hope you can help! I absolutely loved this car when I bought it - my first Lexus and hopefully the only one I ever need. Cheers, James
