  1. Problem is the smaller marked-out parking bays, like in Morrisons. I try to use Waitrose now where the prices are higher but the bays are bigger. More serious is the tendency in supermarkets and pubs to get your door dinked by inconsiderate (and jealous) drivers who park alongside.
  2. Herbie, Thanks for your response - and your wisdom. It certainly seems that the Grom Vine 2 would do the job but it's over £ 500. I was hoping for a less-expensive workaround.
  3. Thanks to you both for your replies. It would appear that Apple Carplay just allows a subset of the iPhone apps through to the navigation screen. As an example if I chose you use Waze for route planning, that would be allowed. It would seem that TV players are suppressed. NemesisUK - thanks for your tip but this applies when the brake is on (selector in Park).
  4. Hi all. I've asked this question on the US Forum but no replies. I would like to display live television on my ES navigation screen. Given that I can get this on my iPhone using BBC iPlayer or the ITV and Sky offerings and the ES has Apple Carplay, I would have thought that there is a workaround. No desire to fall foul of the law and would only use when stationary. Can any of you guys help?
  5. Tony, you are absolutely right. On upper models the mirrors fold-in on switch-off. Given that the mirrors are servo'd it's a mean move by Lexus to disable this facility.
  6. On a £ 40k car! Disgraceful! I picked up my base-model ES from the dealer and the tank was full to the brim. I would not expect anything less.
  7. In my view, Lexus are to be commended for making such a smooth and quiet 4-cylinder engine. The handling is just great and on the rare occasions I put my foot down (without going into sport mode) it responds brilliantly. Average 40 to the gallon pottering around. I've achieved 60 on a 100-mile round a-road trip. What's not to like?
  8. This week's Auto Express has a mini (2 page) report on the 2022 ES with F-Sport Takumi package. They have given it 3.5 stars out of 5. Main criticism is the performance and associated engine noise. The infotainment also gets negative comments although Lexus reliability is acknowledged. Each to their own but it will not spoil the enjoyment of my 2021 Premium Pack model.
  9. George, You're quite right - not worth the money. But they do look nice, all the same!
  10. I specified illuminated scuff plates at extra cost on my 2021 ES Premium Edition and they look good. Only the front ones are available so far as I know.
  11. Like SH20 I am very pleased with my Premium Edition. He'll be even more pleased when he does a long run and gets over 60 mpg. De-equipping this variant of the ES is a crass move by Lexus. The mirrors are motorised and the software is in place to fold the mirrors on locking but Lexus have seen fit to to disable this function - it requires manual operation of the door-mounted switch. The dealer is able to set windows and sunroof to open or close on a long press of the keyfob button but not operate the mirrors. Shame on you Lexus.
  12. Herbie, Thanks for your response. I need to follow a programmed route just occasionally and found Lexus navigation to be adequate. The third-party devices you mention appear to be quite expensive (several hundred pounds) and I wonder if there is a less-costly solution or work-around to get iPhone supported TV up on the display.
  13. I have a question to ask you guys. Given the high level of functionality and information on the ES300h what apps do you find useful by connecting an iPhone to the USB port? Supplementary question - has anyone found a way of bringing live TV onto the navigation display? I am aware of the illegality of this while on the move.
  14. I was intrigued that your wife knows everything. I have a similar model (wife as well as car) and never need to use Google. Could they be related? Surprisingly, you never mentioned the auto parking-brake when engaging Park which is a great initiative. It does make handbrake turns a bit difficult.
  15. Hi Steve (SH20), Interesting move and good for you. If I changed from my ES Premium Edition I would only want the same model again! What you are giving up on the Premium Pack is the real leather and the autofold mirrors. My Lexus service receptionist runs a Premium Edition ES and tells me that with three kids all with sticky hands, the Tahara is much easier to clean - interesting point. What you are gaining is the 12.1 inch display which is really nice.
