  1. Happy Birthday MJM444!

  2. Unfortunately after eight glorious years I have got to let my 1998 Ls400 go, (68,000 miles) due to ill health and being uneconomical to keep the wife's vehicle and my own on the road as in the last 4 years I have only travelled approx 4000 miles, on high days and holidays in the Lexus, although the 30mpg obtained from a 4000cc engine amazes me. I have enjoyed every mile I have driven in the Lexus, I have owned and driven about 25 different cars in 50 years of motoring inc. a T2 Bentley, and nothing by a large margin, exceeds the Lexus and to know I will not be driving mine in future breaks my heart
  3. The struts advertised on EBay above are for a boot, I nearly bought them. SGS can regas your existing struts, I'm not sure this is economical in relation to the new price
  4. Does anybody know where I can obtain the centre Logo for LS400 MKIV standard alloy wheels as I have one missing and it annoys me. MJM444
  5. Does anybody have any knowledge with regard to fitting a mobility scooter hoist to a MKIV LS400. We have a light weight mobility scooter (approx 45kg) that goes into the boot folded but is becoming too heavy for my wife and I to physically lift into the boot and we are wondering if there is any suitable hoist, preferably 12v electric that fits on board, if any member has experience of such an item I would appreciate any info. - Thanks MJM444
  6. Hi all Finally got the battery charged, as royt said, the battery was dead flat and it appears it takes a couple of hours before the charger kicks in before charging, the charger i have got has a setting for water filled batteries or gelatine i'm assuming mine is gelatine based, anyhow i had the charger on for 15hours fast charge and my car fired up first time - i'm not sure if I may have left the door not properly closed causing the battery to drain right down, but if it happens again, first stop the battery shop. I appreciate all the feed back from members it is one great thing being a member of the club. p.s can a dead flat battery be tested MJM444
  7. The battery is only 2 years old - the point is if another vehicle is connected up to mine I should get some reaction but my vehicle remains completely dead - should not happen even if my battery was naff ?
  8. Started my LS400 on Saturday after non use of car for 3weeks and all was fine started straight away, went to start two days later and would not turn over I.e. dash lights on but. dimmed on turning key to start, don't know if I may have left something on from the Saturday. Connected battery to charger but did not appear to take charge and everything seemed to be dead electric wise. Got a friend to try and Jump start with his 4 x4 I.e. Heavy Duty battery but mine would nor turn over and everything looked dead I.e. no illumination at all. Any suggestions ????
  9. I assume then the site and numbers shown must refer to the mark I'V as the record only starts from 1997 the start of production of that model - these figures are from DVLA MJM 444
  10. I see there are, as from end of June 2012 1700 Ls 400's on the road I wonder how many of those are Mark iV's which I feel will be the vehicle of choice when they reach veteran stage. MJM444 http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/lexus_ls400_auto
  11. Hi there Did not realise that there is a radio code for a MkIV as I have never had to put a code in for the Radio after disconnecting the battery. N.B I have just fitted a replacement battery. MJM444
  12. Hi I pay £317.00 for my LS400 Mk4 fully comprehensive this was achieved on renewal by Saga by them agreeing to match any other like for like quotation - which meant a £100 reduction on previousy quoted price. I also received a reduction of £50 on renewal for my wife payng £227.00 for her 2005 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 under the same arrangement both of these premiums to be paid with 4 quarterly payments interest free. As a matter of interest I also got a £50 reduction from Saga for buildings and content insurance paying £107.00 on a 3 bedroom detached bungalow Yours MJM444
  13. Just received my Car renewal for my LS400 - Mk4 - 1998 for £420.00 - Comprehensive - 4000miles per annum - NCB - and I am aged 76 from SAGA stating that they would match any lower offer - got onto Confused.com comparative insurance site and the lowest quote was £425 - then decided to add my wife also 76 years - 40 year licence and no claims and received 22 quotes below the above price - lowest was then £309.00 contacted Saga on adding my wife, who has vowed she would never drive the Lexus. who then offered a renewal premium of £311.00 paid quarterly - no extra - which I accepted - This obviously is a worth while exercise - although I do not understand the logic of it.
  14. In actual fact it sticks onto the bonnet wih supplied adhesive taped base- I stuck in on, and it stayed secure over six years- when it was broken by forementioned toe-rag I removed the base section carefully that was still left on the bonnet and there was no apparent damage at all to the paintwork NB No drillig inolved at all - And furher to comments by other members as regards the safety aspect = I am sure that a decent bump against the mascot in collision with someone or person it would come away from the bonnet relatively easy MJM444
