  1. Hi guys. Looking for an answer into the issue i have with my IS220D. it is an manual 2006 IS220D with 140,000 on the clock. I bought the vehicle in June, knowing of this issue, but hoping it’s a cheap easy fix to which I have only attempted terraclean as of yet. The issue I have, is that the car feels well underpowered before the turbo kicks in, foot could be flat to the floor and it feels like it is holding back. Asoon as the turbo kicks in it’s flying. Has anyone got the solution? Thanks in advance.
  2. IS200 Turbo

    Hello im looking to get install a turbo into and IS200 and looking through this forum and various other forums I've not really found a clear answer to my question. Can you just install a turbo onto the is200 without having to buy this £2300 kit? For example, could I just change the manifold and install a turbo without having to spend all that money. I understand that some stock internals may need to be upgraded however e.g. flywheel, manifold and such.

Hi Guys , whilsts I have adapted my driving to deal with the lag in my IS220D`s turbo kicking in , it seems now to have stopped kicking in al together :-/ , I now have a complete lack of power all the way through the revs and gears :-( the only way the reach 30mph is to high rev ( 3500rpm) in both first and second gear ...... not good !! I`ve cleaned the MAF sensor with electrical contact spray , and also had the EGR valve out to claen out all the carbon deposits , of which there was plenty, all though to no avail , could it be the turbo that has failed , any advice will be greatly appreciated :-) Jc
  4. Hi. I've just recently sold my car and am now looking to get into drifting. My choice of car is the SC300 but I'm unsure what engine to get the 1JZGTE or the 1UZ. The car will be daily driven and modified to take to the track. Whats the best pick? Also what are the common problems with both of them? It will be an auto then this summer coming I'll do a manual swap. I'm mechanically minded so will be able to fix most of the stuff that may go wrong. Any help/information about them will be great!

  6. Hi all, looking for some advice. have seen a turbo kit on Ebay fitted for £2299.00 does anyone know anything about this company and the guy called "Squint" who has built some very fast IS200's please? seems too good to be true, which means it usuyally is...... thanks ​
  7. Whats up fellow lexus people, I need some advice with my current mk1 GS300. I've fallen into a state where I do not know whether its worth keeping and spending money on, or letting it go. It a 95' M reg standard model with 95k and service history up to 74k. Since I've owned it, the only work that I have done to it is a back-box delete, and oil changes every 5k. Problems: The body work has a few dings and scratches; the back windows don't work; the cup holders are broken; the CD changer doesn't work; the front left lower arm bush needs replacing; there is an oil leak; some of the LED's on the dash don't work. Now baring in mind that I only paid £300 for it, is it worth pouring in more money to fix up the issues and run low level boost? My intention was to turn it into a highway cruiser/ tourer, but considering the costs to do this, would it not be better to start with another base? My alternatives were a 3000GT, an e39 540i, or an RX8. A BPU 3000GT will run around 380 at the crank but parts are harder to come by. An e39 will cost a lot to boost but the v8 sound is gorgeous. I've already own two rx8's but at the time I was in college and never managed to pull enough money to work on them. I have have been offered to swap my GS for an FTO Tip/auto Mivec. Are these any good or should I avoid it?? I love my the noise the 2J makes and the interior is nice on the MK1 GS. It doesn't get as much attention as my supra which sucks, but oh well. What do you guys recommend I should do?? My initial budget as of this moment is about £1500. Should I trade her in for something else or stay pure?? Any advice or encouragement is appreciated!!!

  9. Hi All, I had my catalystic convertor replaced in February by Lexus for my 2006 IS220D, they also flushed my injectors at this time. The guy in the garage did say that in the future I may need my turbo replacing but was not an immediate job. Over the past 4 weeks I have been getting a juggering when quickly building up speed (i had this before the injectors were flushed) its not happened since February but then last night I was building up spped form trafic lights and then my power just disminished.... now in 2nd gear it takes a prolongeed period of time to get up to 30, its managable on normal roads but I could not take this on a motorway for instance. There are no management lights ..... Does this sound like a new turbo? (as I was quoted £3k from Lexus) but surley if the turbo is bust I would get a management light and I would had seen smoke etc ?? or do you think its the injectors? .... any help you can give is very valuable....
