  1. Hello, So I recently got into a little accident with my is200 manual and now need a new rear hub, and maybe other parts although unsure what yet. Question is will parts from a is200 auto suffice. So I wanted this post to outline the differences. I know the differential is different with a higher ratio i believe, and obviously the tranny. But is there anything else? I have a guy ready to sell me a bunch of parts from an auto is200, but I'm sceptical with mine being a manual thanks
  2. So I thought I would try the Auto modes where you can stop it going higher than a certain gear. I fully understand the idea, I normally use this features on twisty roads to stop the gearbox from constantly going up and down. I selected D5, the display changed as expected. I got the impression the car down shifted, then after around 3 seconds the display changed back to D (no D5), I pressed the - paddle again and it showed D5. then back to D. I then tried moving down to D4, the same thing happened, display changed back to D. When I pressed the - paddle again it showed D4 (not D5) so it had remembered that I had selected D4. I was expecting the display to show D4, D5 etc until I held the + paddle to switch back to normal Drive. Am i doing something wrong, does the display show D when D4 is selected?
  3. Hi. I've just recently sold my car and am now looking to get into drifting. My choice of car is the SC300 but I'm unsure what engine to get the 1JZGTE or the 1UZ. The car will be daily driven and modified to take to the track. Whats the best pick? Also what are the common problems with both of them? It will be an auto then this summer coming I'll do a manual swap. I'm mechanically minded so will be able to fix most of the stuff that may go wrong. Any help/information about them will be great!
  4. Hi All, I hope this has ended up in the right place. I have an 2004 IS300 LE and my drivers side external Auto dim mirror dosent appear to be working. The passenger side mirror dimms when the button on the internal mirror is pressed with the internal mirror. I have noticed that when i press the auto feature button on the internal mirror the green light only comes on the left (passenger side UK). Are both green lights supposed to come on either side of the button? and also does the lack of a green light on the right side of the button on the internal mirror signal that there is a fault with the drivers side? If so - is there a fuse i need to replace for the right mirror? - how do i investigate the problem further? Appreciate the help
  5. Hi there everyone i would really appreciate some help with my 98 GS300 Basically when i was driving the car when i first got it all of a sudden the car stopped driving, the engine still runs perfect, revvs properly but no drive whatsoever, First of all i had the transmission oil and filter changed but no luck, so i purchased a new second hand gearbox form a friend which was running perfectly and had this installed by my mechanic, but still no luck whatsoever. The car will still not drive in any gear does anyone have any insight whatsoever as to what could be the issue here? thanks in advance -Jack
  6. Hi there everyone, after some trolling online i haven't been able to find anything to help me out, basically i recently purchased a GS300 Auto I had it out on sunday whena ll of a sudden i lost drive, the selectror will go through all the gears etc no problem whatsoever however no matter what gear i am in be it D, R, L 2, 3 or 4 the car will not move annywhere, i have had the transmission fluid etc checked but still no luck. does anyone know what may be a possible cause of this issue? thanks in advance! -Jack
  7. Important safety note - do not use the auto function when you need fog lights - the feature will turn off the fog lights too when it reaches its lower limit. Driving west along the M6 it got foggy (<100m) so I slowed down & turned on the fog lights but crucially when the sensor detected an increase in light levels, even though the fog had not lifted, it turned the all lights off. I reported this to Lexus but they failed to reply for 6 weeks so I chased but have not responded to what is a safety issue. Shame about the incident and that Lexus customer service is so poor in their follow up, I think they are embarrassed that this happens, that it's not properly described in the handbook which reads "When the light switch is in AUTO the headlights and all lights turn off automatically if the powerswitch is turned to ACCESSORY mode or turned off" and by not responding & not admitting this is a fault it will go away and no one will get hurt as a result. Be warned and be safe.
  8. Gearbox Problem

Hi, My gearbox recently developed a small problem, on fast acceleration and high revs change from first to second gear results in very bad noise, like crunching noise. I don't really want to repair that, but I would like to swap manual gearbox for automatic one. It suit me better. Is there a lot of work to achieve that? thanks
  9. Jae? Anyone?

Hi Everyone! Is LOC going to represent Lexus at this years JAE from 12th - 15th Sept??? I've had a look at the Club list and could not see anyone from LOC! Really!!???
  10. Hi all. This is a question for the Auto owners mainly, but may also apply to manual drivers. I've noticed that my Accelerator pedal is quite snappy. In that I mean that it only needs a little pressure to give quite a pace of acceleration from a standing start. This makes it difficult to pull off smoothly without being really gentle on the accelerator. In snow mode I find it too lazy, but it's almost as if the normal mode could do with being just a little bit more lazy. I'm finding that I have to tow the caravan with it in snow mode for better control.
