  1. Had my car a couple of months now and been generally very impressed, I don't know why these cars are not more popular, a lot of car for £5,000 ! Anyway, the boot will not open using the button in the car or the latch on the boot itself (it will open with the key) I have checked the switch in the glove box and I assume the fuse is ok as the fuel filler cap still works and according to the manual it is the same fuse. Anyone got any ideas or come across this before? I did take out the Lexus warranty, would this sort of thing be covered? Many thanks.....
  2. Just to quick queries long-term owners may be able to answer. 1. When I set a destination on the satnav, on both my previous IS and my wife's CT, it was not necessary to click "Start" - after a short delay to allow you to add further destinations to the route, the navigation started anyway. However, it appears the NX requires this (and it cannot be done by voice control). Is this correct? Or is there a setting which allows this to be changed? 2. The boot is automatic (so far so good), but it has to close all the way before you can lock the car. As it takes a while, I can see this getting slightly irritating. Can this be set so the car is locked in advance of the boot closing?
  3. Evening, I've got a 2012 GS450h F-Sport and I have to pull the boot lid pretty hard to close it, should it have a soft close boot like my 2008 GS450h did?
  4. Hi. I am brand new to Lexus ownership, and brand new to this site. I would appreciate a bit of help, please. I purchased a lovely old Lexus GS 300 Auto (1997) from Auto Trader. It runs beautifully and is a smooth ride. So far, so good! The only problem is, I can't get the boot (trunk) open, even though the garage from which I bought my Lexus assures me they could! I had it checked out by my local garage, which I have used for years, and which I trust, and they couldn't get the book to open, try as they might. My local garage has suggested the absence of a second key might be the problem. Are they right? (I only have one key, for the ignition.) Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated, as this is such a nice car otherwise. I am willing to buy another key if necessary, or to pay a reasonable amount for a successful solution. Many thanks.
  5. Hi, I've just picked up my car (there'll be a longer post coming once I've got a few issues rectified) and the dealer supplied and fitted the rear dog guard (PZ483K212000) and the dog divider (PW2550E002). The divider splits the boot in half so the dog can occupy one side and the luggage the other. It attaches to PZ483K212000 which is the RX450h Full Height Dog Guard. You can see the divider in the image I've uploaded from Lexus. I was wondering if anyone had this installed already and could give me some feedback, mine appears to be too high up the rear guard, as a result, when I go over any kind of bump in the road, it rattles on the bottom supporting post. The supporting post doesn't screw in at all, it's just sitting on top of it and loose in the 'hole'. There's an adjustment collar that moves up and down the thread, but, this doesn't attach to the divider at all. I've tried moving the entire divider further down the rear guard, but, at it's lowest point the brackets that fit to the rear guard can't be used due to the contour of the guard and the dividing bar. Very hard to describe, but, anyone who has one of these should be able to point me in the right direction. I'm not local to the supplying dealer or my preferred dealer and I'd like to get this resolved prior to the weekend when I need it for a camping trip. I've managed to find instructions for the rear dog guard on the tech portal, but, no fitting instructions for the divider which appears to be the issue. Thanks Andrew
  6. I've been bothered for a while by the boot of my IS200 being difficult to close: it needs a real slamming, which looks odd given the doors close with the push of a finger. I'm assuming something is worn as I can't see any damage from an accident. The only part slightly worn is the bracket, which is probably 1-2mm bent (see pic). Alternatively, is there some adjustment elsewhere that I'm missing?
  7. Hi. My boot may as well have no dampers fitted, the boot slams with a vengeance unless you control it's decent until the final few inches, then drop it. I have had a dig around and I can't see any part numbers on either of the struts. There is a warning label with some unhelpful English but the rest Japanese. Ebay have plenty, but all from cars of a similar age to mine (2008) which may or may not work. I found The problem is they only have an IS300 as the model, not an IS250. The picture looks the same but I don't know if they are identical or not. Does anyone know either the part number for an IS250 boot strut or know if the IS300 simply has a larger engine in the same body type?
  8. Hey just got an Rx400h and I am loving it and also this forum. It has already taught me quite a lot :D I was going to go for an GS450h but sadly i needed more boot storage space. One problem I have with it is I seem to have a bit of an issue with not being able to close the boot storage lids. They are popped open and I cant feel anything for them to latch onto. The lid has a type of hook on it but I cant feel anything below it that would seem to allow it to 'clasp' onto it to keep it down. Any ideas would be great. I didn't really know what to google and I ended up just seeing a lot of boot liners and storage things. This isn't my car but i am not at hand to however this one shows them nice and shut :D
  9. I've nearly always unlocked the boot on my IS300 by pressing the button on the key rather than inserting the key in the lock. Recently there has been a steadily increasing delay before the lock responds, which I assume may be because the key fob battery is becoming flat. My problem is that when I insert the key in the boot barrel, the latter will not turn. I've tried lubricating it to no avail. Any ideas, please? I want to ensure that I can unlock the boot if the fob battery fails completely.
  10. Help, my spare wheel well was full of water and despite checking the seal (ok - but iv'e put a coat of Vaseline on anyway) and stripped the lid padding, i was hoping to adjust the closure mechanism but cannot see any way of doing this. Knowing Toyota thette must be a way of adjusting his, anyone know how please. My Ls400 (1997) drives superb and looks great so i am keen to solve this, it's only problem
  11. Hello, Does anyone know if there is a safe/viable LED alternative to the existing, rather dim, interior boot lights for an RX300/350? I've tried searching for something that could replace a boot bulb ( 12V 5W festoon/dome bulb 28mm ) but with no luck... Piers
  12. Hi, I'm after a new boot floor for a 2008 ISF, due to a white spirit spillage that won't go away after steam cleaning, soapy water, airing and febreezing :-( Replacements don't seem to be available on eBay. I've had my local dealer quote me *wait for it* £356 for one!! Essentially a 3x2ft piece of stiffened felt that sits on the spare tyre. Any other ideas, or just keep on airing it? The smell has to go away sometime, right?
  13. Hi I'm new here so hope I'm posting this in the correct place. We have an RX400h and are looking for a full boot liner - not the (semi) rigid tray that just covers the floor of the boot but one that will cover the sides up to the little window and the back of the rear seats - a bit like the one in the attached image. This search is prompted by the state that our two spaniels get into and the previous mess that they've made. If anybody can advise then we'd be really grateful. Thanks
  14. Hi, I have just got a 2002 IS 300 Navigator sedan, 78,000 miles, very lovely (but thirsty) car. The first time my wife used the boot it fell on her head! Very painful. It just won't stay up (the boot lid that is!). The slightest wind or if the cars's on a slope, it comes down. Ha, I thought, just needs some gas struts. Look inside - no gas struts, just a clever metal rod system. Like me, I imagine they have lost their elasticity over the years. Anyone any ideas? Can they be adjusted? Taken off and bent?
  15. I am doing a couple of modifications to the rear of my car. Thought I would just let you all know that the words "Lexus" and "IS 220 d" have 6 locator pins. Therefore if you remove them, you will have to fill the holes and paint the boot lid.
