catchhster posted a topic in Lexus GS 300 / Lexus GS 250 / Lexus GS 430 / Lexus 450h / Lexus GS 460 ClubHi Gutted ! Just this evening I finished work and started mys car. Oops the ready symbol flashed few times and the car wont start at all. The ready sign kept flashing no warnigs. After few seconds the engine kicked in and got the Check Hybrid System warning along with red triangle and Check Engine Light. (No other warning lights ) The car has done 65k miles and a 2010 se-l model. Well serviced and recently did the Hybrid Health Check. I only bought it two months back so only have a basic 6month warranty. was waiting for it to finish before i can put lexus warranty. So I called lexus and the asked me to bring it. The car was running as normal on both electric and engine even the energy monitor showing like it is running fine. The battery was charging properly infact it went to a high charge state on the way to lexus. Nothing odd happened over last two days just a lot of driving on country roads. One thing i noticed is a slight sulfur like smell in the morning in side the cabin. I thought this might be the brand of petrol I used. Other thing is i have been having a break squeal issue since i bought the car but that i think due to the dealer did not shim the break pads properly when i bought the car. I left to lexus but they will only get it diagnosed tomorrow morning. Any one had similar issue please share I am in a bit of a bad situation here. Also any advise please shout out. Many thanks
Cumfigali posted a topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h ClubHi All, hopefully someone can help here. Re-fulled the other day shortly after the CEL came on. Pulled over and checked everything over, all seemed fine. Did a quick google and loose fuel cap came up as one of the causes. Checked that and it seems tight, usual woosh when opening which would indicate a good seal. The light has went out a few times but comes back again. Does the system look at this periodically? Or does something run intermittently which would throw up the fault? Have also seen something about a charcoal canister, where is this located? Does anyone have fault code for fuel tank pressure/leak. Looking to get and OBD 2 reader. Does anyone have part number for fuel cap Lexus or Toyota equivalent. Many thanks
Newbie and Know Nothingbie......any help greatly appreciated. My check engine light has appeared for the very first time since I owned the car (6 years and 40,000 miles) so I'm unsure if I need to take it to an official dealer or a regular mechanic to diagnose the fault. The car appears to run ok for the very journey I did to get it home.
I have a 2008 IS250 I bought certified pre-owned in February of 2011. Since then I have been having problems with the car. I first brought it in approx. 2 weeks after I bought it due to a shuttering/shaking noise I was feeling and hearing. I was told nothing was wrong (multiple times). Finally about a year later the Check VSC and check engine lights came on and I had to bring it in. Lexus told me it was due to a bulletin that was posted saying the pistons and rings had to be replaced for certain VIN numbers. I still noticed the same issue happening but kept being told that the car was fine. I was specifically told one time I brought it in that all the history codes were deleted. The next time I brought it in I was told the car misfired and might have to have the pistons and rings replaced. When I flipped out and told them this was already done less than a year ago, they called me back and said it was just a misfire code! LIES LIES LIES. I brought the car back a month later AGAIN and this time they once again replaced all the pistons and rings because the car was misfiring and had carbon build up. Lexus refuses to offer any kind of remmedy to the situation besides stating that they will be sure to fix it each time I bring it in (and possibly offer an extended warranty WHICH I ALREADY PURCHASED) Now one month later the check VSC and check engine lights are on once again and the car is shaking uncontrollably. It is in service now so I am awaiting what excuse they will have for me this time..... Oh did I mention that when I purchased the car certified pre-owned I asked to see the carfax while test driving it. I was told by the car dealer he would print it for me but that he was sure it had never been in an accident. We took the car to lunch that day to think about it and when we returned we began negotiating a purchase price and forgot to request the carfax again (not that we should have had to remind him anyways). Well needless to say we purchased the car without reviewing the car fax (silly us to rely on the Lexus dealer's word). We asked for it the next day and of course an accident was right on there! They offered us 2 free details to remedy that situation, pfffffft. We have now come to contacting corporate to see what we can do to have them look further into the situation and possibly buy the car back. I have brought the car in now for the same problem more than 10 times, which is very frustrating and inconvenient because 1.) to go before or after work is always during rush hour through the city 2.) if I want to avoid the traffic I have to take time off work and 3.) I can't always take time off due to prior set appointments. I was just wondering if anyone had a similar experience or could offer any advice???
