chr15gb posted a topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D ClubHad the car since Feb and some nutjob crashed into me yesterday. The other guy was a complete tool, absolutel blamed me for everything and flurried the personal insults at me. My first crash I've ever had since I started driving in 1986 so I'm pretty annoyed about it. I am going through insurance but they have warned me that roundabout incidents are nearly always considered a "Shared Blame" so both parties are at fault. I've attached a schematic and a picture of the damage. I've also written a full statement of what happened. I don't want to let this drop and accept shared liability but with no previous experience of claiming, does anyone know what else I could do to help prove my case? Car is being inspected by a body shop in three days time, damage is to the wing, wheel, bumper and door mirror, mostly cosmetic and could by fixed with a few bangs, sand & paint.
Our Lexus has suffered greatly at the hands of others. Mostly of the supermarket dent and scarper variety. The most recent event happened on the road. Someone reversed into it and when realising that it was his word against my wifes word claimed that the lexus had run into the rear of his stationary car. The result is partial loss of no claims and total loss of excess on the insurance. I would estimate the overall out of pocket cost to be well in excess of £500 for such a barefaced lie on the part of the other driver. I have now invested in a crash cam for each of our cars since it would seem the the insurers just aren't interested in fraud without being spoon fed easy to digest evidence and neither are the police. I wonder how long it might be before Lexus fit one of these little crash cam gems as standard to the front and rear of all their models. In the meantime, I would warn you all that the fraudsters are out there and they are after your insurance payouts one way or another either by organised crashing or opportunistic try ons such as my wifes recent experience. In the mean time, as well as the fraudster getting away without losing his no claims since his vehicle sustained minimal damage, the insurers will get away with charging me more for insurance for the next five years. Everybody wins except the innocent party! ( those of you who might think it reasonable that I should have my payments increased for this by the insurers could consider that I have been paying for insurance on a regular basis for cars and motorcycles for over 40 years without a single claim against my insurer. Imagine the amount of my money they have already collected during that time)
MackScania posted a topic in Lexus GS 300 / Lexus GS 250 / Lexus GS 430 / Lexus 450h / Lexus GS 460 ClubHad the car out yesterday, and managed to reverse into bench that happened to be bolted into the ground! Anyone think the damage is repairable or do you think its a new/used bumper i need? There is a split in the bumper which isn't visible from the Photo.
Last weekend I went to visit a friend in Royal Leamington Spa. Parked my IS200 in a council car park and came back to find out that some scrote/s decided to Starsky & Hutch it all over my car ! The roof is warped though I have managed to pull 3 of the major dents out myself, but I've got 6 very visible flaws in the roof now, they also rolled over the front of my car scratching the bonnet and nearside wing also denting the bonnet in two places in the process, one of them right on one of the folds too. To add insult to injury they even ripped off one of my roof strips - the :tsktsk:! The police are checking the CCTV in the car park but I’m not holding my breath for them to be able to actually ID the blighter/s. Took it to Lexus Stoke (my local dealership) but the price they were asking for was > £1000 and would mean an insurance jobby, which I’m really not keen on doing as I don’t have protected no claims. So I’m getting it done at an independent bodyshop in Fenton which was recommended to me by a couple of mates. I’ll post some after pictures when it’s been filled and re-sprayed. Really not a happy bunny right now though :megaangry:.
