  1. I'm unable to setup connected services via bluetooth in my 2013 Lexus IS300h (with premium navigation), I found that the software was old (VC03101G) so have just updated to the latest that the portal gave me to download (VD12102C) After that I unpaired my phone and deleted the username from the navigation connected services section. Then I went into bluetooth and connected services, it asks me for my portal username and password and then gives me this error every time: "Connection not possible (ID=195)" I checked my device (iPhone 6 with IOS 10.2) and bluetooth compatibility on their website and it says that connected services should work. Also when I go into bluetooth details in the car it shows everything in supported profiles - including DUN & PAN as white. If I turn my personal hotspot on my phone and try to setup connected services over WIFI then it sets it up fine. As a side note I did watch a tutorial video on how to setup connected services and they were asked for the country and phone carrier details when setting it up on the car (before the username and password are input). I have never been asked to enter these, I'm wondering if I should be or whether it still has settings from the previous owner - though I couldn't find anywhere to reset them. I tried contactiing Lexus via the customer portal with the above info but still haven't had a reply 6 days later.
  2. Parts: • Lightning and Aux Connector for Lexus RX300, 350 & 400h (£49.99 from Amazon) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lightning-APPS2CAR-Integrated-Interface-Highlander/dp/B01AJMU6R0/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1470239047&sr=1-1&keywords=rx400+iphone+lightning • Toyota 6+6 pin Y splitter cable (between £10 and £20 on eBay) – OPTIONAL Tools: • 10mm socket wrench screwdriver • soldering iron (optional) Time: ~10-20 minutes Steps: • Put on your parking brake (don’t have your keys in the ignition), using the shift lock put the vehicle into Driver or B • Remove the gear surround, by just pulling with your fingers • Remove the 12v supply panel above and pull away. Either detach the connections or just leave hanging in the driver foot well • Using the 10mm socket, remove the following 4 bolts. The top too are quite well hidden, so you’ll need either an extension for your ratchet or a screw driver fitting. Luckily the bolts aren’t that stiff. Keep one hand underneath in case the bolts drop as you don’t want them dropping behind the centre console • Now just pull the stereo away from the rest of the console. • You will find three connections on the rear. The one you want, is the 6+6 pin connection to the left of the three (looking from behind). You’ll notice that there is already a connector in there.. that is needed as it powers the radio. • You can either use the standard type 1 6+6 Y splitter cable found on eBay. Or if you want to save £15. Then it’s very easy just to remove the wires from the existing loom and splice to the cable from your iphone adapter kit. It’s only two wires afterall. • Here’s the orginal CD changer loom, yellow (1) and brown (2): • Here’s the new connector for the iphone kit, purple (3) and yellow (4): • You’d just need to attach the yellow (1) wire from your CD unit to the purple (3) cable on the adapter and the brown (2) wire from your CD unit to the yellow (4) wire on the adapter. • Depending on the choise you made above, plug the 6+6 pin splitter in the back of the unit (the apapter and orginal CD connector go into the splitter), or the spliced 6+6 pin direct from the adapter. • Now return the head unit back into the dash. I ran the adapter cable behind the bracket behind to create space. • Plug the lighting cable and aux cable into the adapter. • Thread the two cables down the left inside of the centre console (I used garden wire to thread through in reverse and pull the cables through) and out into the foot well just behind the glove box (this might be different depending where you mount your phone) • Reattach the 4 bolts. I put a small ball of bluetac inside my socket so that the nuts are held in place, as you don’t want them dropping off as you line them back up. • Re-Attach the 12v supply panel and gear selector surround. • Put your vehicle back into Park • Then turn on the ignition to test the interface. • To switch to iphone/Aux adapter. Just press the CD button twice. • Optionally I’ve mounted my iphone with one of these little magnetic brackets next to the centre console. It’s a great position and the magnetic disc is great. I didn’t stick it to the phone or case. I just have it in between and it still gets held firmly. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mpow-Rotatable-Magnetic-Samsung-Smartphones/dp/B019DCFE6K/ref=sr_1_cc_2?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1470240725&sr=1-2-catcorr&keywords=mpow+360+car+mount
  3. Can anyone recommend an easy to fit good quality iphone connector for the is200 please Mark Levinson system
  4. Hello I've had my RX400h for 3 years now, and have been generally pleased with it. It has been very reliable, but 2 things really annoy me, and I am wondering if anything can be done: iPhone connectivity via Bluetooth is very hit and miss. When the phone does actually connect to the system (it often fails to connect), there is something that I have not ever come across before - if dialling out, there is never a ring tone heard. The radio keeps playing until the phone at the other end is picked up, then the radio is muted and conversation begins. Is there any way to change this behaviour - it is very disconcerting! Secondly, is it possible to connect a Pure 300 DAB system to the Mark Levision system ? There is no aux input as such.
  5. Hello Everyone, I have recently purchased a 2006 Lexus RX400H from a Lexus main dealer. It is my first Lexus, and I am new to this Club. Whilst overall, I am very pleased, a few things disappoint me a lot: 1/ Even though I have 2010-11 maps, I cannot update my destination choice on the move. I have read through the forum postings here and others seem to be doing that via firmware update. How do I access the firmware update? The discs came from the supplying dealer, and are definitely genuine. I took the disc out, and reinserted it, but no firmware update option is visible anywhere 2/ On FM, whenever we switch on the rear window heater, there is a huge deterioration in the signal quality, with a lot of interference. Any thoughts? I tried uploading a video file to this site, but I am not allowed to do so. 3/ The Bluetooth implementation is just woeful. It seems that there is no way to manually type in names/numbers, and, as has been documented, the Bluetooth doesn't work with transferring data from iphone. According to the Lexus site, the Galaxy S 11 works perfectly, and I managed to borrow one, setup a Google account, backup all my vcf files from iPhone, transfer those to the galaxy S, connect to RX via Bluetooth, then after a struggle, managed to get the names into Phonebook 1. Alas, I soon realised that if a contact has more than 1 number, only the first number in the list is copied. eg, the home number, but not work or mobile. How useless is that? To discuss the above, I contacted Lexus Customer (non) service, who had no clue how to answer any of the above. They directed to a Premium Rate telephone number for Technical help (they initially declined to tell me that it cost £1.50 a minute, even though I asked). For a Premium Brand, I think that is disgusting. I did ring the supplying dealer who had promised to look into it for me previously, but, weeks later, I have yet to hear back from them. So, as I use the phone and sat nav a lot, it seems that paying a premium for the integrated systems has been a total waste of money. I am considering getting a Parrot fitted, can anyone confirm that I will need just the Parrot and the SOT lead. Do I need anything else? Will I retain the full functionality of the stereo steering wheel controls, as with other cars? I guess getting a Parrot with music playback will enable me to play music through the Mark Levinson stereo somehow - or will I need yet another interface? Thanks for your anticipated help.
  6. From reading through the manual of my MY13 RX 450h, I’ve gone and registered for a portal account with My Lexus Connected Services. As per the FAQ on the website, “In order to use this service, a Bluetooth DUN/PAN capable cellular phone with a valid data plan subscription is required.” (Here's a screenshot incase it wants you to login to see the FAQ) I’m a bit of a geek, but for those that don’t know the difference between the two bluetooth profiles: DUN is using the phone as a Dial Up Networking modem. It creates a virtual modem through the bluetooth connection to your paired device (laptop, car etc) then dials your provider directly for an internet connection. You need provider specific information, such as the Access Point Name, correct number to dial, the correct initialization string, and possibly a username and/or password. PAN is creating a personal area network, to provide a hotspot. Your paired device (laptop, car etc) doesn’t have to do any dialing or anything. Anyways, in the car I go into the detailed Bluetooth settings and this is what profiles it shows me as supporting: HFP, DUN, OPP, PBAP, A2DP, AVRCP, and MAP. So that’s contradicting what the Lexus website said as there's no PAN. How do I enable PAN on my car? Does it need a software update from Lexus or something? Why does it matter so much that the car only does DUN whereas the Lexus website says it should do PAN too? Because the Apple iPhone only does PAN not DUN. Anyone got any ideas on how to get PAN working? Cheers!
