  1. ECU pinout required.

Hi, new to forum, there may be an already existing thread but I cannot find anything......ANYWHERE! I need an ecu pinout for a 2001 is200 using a 1gfe with an ecu number 89661-53200. I need this pinout diagram and expertese to fit a bee*r limiter basically because I want one and I like being a loon in my car. There are people who hate/disagree with them, however I would like one in my car and I would appreciate help fitting it. any help appreciated.
  2. IS200 Turbo

Hello im looking to get install a turbo into and IS200 and looking through this forum and various other forums I've not really found a clear answer to my question. Can you just install a turbo onto the is200 without having to buy this £2300 kit? For example, could I just change the manifold and install a turbo without having to spend all that money. I understand that some stock internals may need to be upgraded however e.g. flywheel, manifold and such.
  3. Is200 weight

Hi guys, i have owened 3 lexus is 200s and I absolutely love them, just recently i thought about having a caravan so i sold the sport and got the is 200 SE I have the tow bar and everything, i want to know how much the standard is 200 weighs. as my car and caravan must be 3.5 tonne or under. Now can anybody please tell me how to find this out, i have looked online allready but have had no luck thanks in advance for all the replys, much appreciated
  4. Hi guys, first time posting here on this forum looking for help. I currently have a 2000 Lexus is200 as my weekend (fun car) while my daily was in getting repaired I was driving the Lexus as a daily but when my main car came back I parked the Lexus up starting it every so often. Then when I went to start it one day it just kept turning and fuelling but would not spark. I had to charge the battery also. I checked power to cool packs and they all have power going to them. I've checked all fuses and nothing seems at fault there. While I was driving it as a daily the plastic part of my key, which is the only one I have for it, split. I glued it back together but I've a funny feeling this is the issue that the chip isn't sending out a signal. When I put the key in the ignition the red dot security light is not lighting up! Does anyone have any ideas or people who could sort this for me ? I'm in the Meath area of ireland. Much apprecited.
  5. Hello everyone! I picked up my first IS200 SE last week for the princely sum of £650. She has 97,000 miles, one owner, full history and lovely in every way apart from the bodywork. My plans are to slowly restore it to a nice standard. Primarily lots of small bodywork and paint repairs including the seriously scuffed alloys. PLANS Remove major scratches and minor dents. Repair deep dent on rear panel. Deep polish to remove the pretty bad swirl marks. Alloy repair and respray. Tint rear windows. Spray chrome rear light inserts red (sorry, not a fan of lexus lights). Make sure everything is fully rust proof and pristine for longevity. Cruise Control retrofit (if possible). Wire folding mirrors to central locking.
  6. Hi All, I'm new to the Lexus scene, previously owned a BMW 125i E82, which was perfect, but I ended up selling to clear a loan. I'm now in the market for a cheaper car (£2000 all in inc. insurance/tax) that will reliably get me from A-B for the next year as my other half and I move into a house. Unfortunately for her, I get bored of cars easily, but the IS200 seems to be a relatively good compromise. I have seen an IS200 Sport on Gumtree for £1,400, FSH at the correct intervals and 103K miles on the clock. Cambelt was changed at 68k, oil service with microfilter and sparkplugs at 90K. All sounds promising.... The problem is, it's been 11 months since the last MOT, and it's done 20k miles. It had new brake disks and pads at this stage, and there doesn't seem to be any reports of corrosion. I've asked for a new MOT, but the "story" is that the owner is the vendors sister, she's had it for 2 years but she's bought something newer and left him to sell the car. He works 7-5:30 and is not insured to get the car to an MOT centre. I have asked to view the car with price to be negotiated. Is this too much of a financial risk for an IS200 of this age, is there anything I could look for when viewing this evening? Any help would be appreciated, SpazaB
  7. Creeper Story

Ok I am just starting this thread to show the life of 'Creeper' my cars name (yeh i'm a bit sad but who cares lol). I have no pictures of the way I bought it, but lets just say it seemed someone had been using it for banga racing. The smell inside wasn't great either. I didn't have a windscreen so i took the opportunity to change the colour of the centre console from black to silver, just wanted it to look like it had more life and it fitted in line with the grey piping on the seats. To I chopped off the old handbrake for a Momo one To.. and as you can see I changed the gear Knob to something a bit more classy in my opinion. I got addicted to spraying things so I darkened the fog lights, and headlights, and also bought some darker tail lights from a member on here I believe. For the tail lights i used tint spray, you can buy different colours, blue, smoke, red and green (e-tech range) To
  8. Lexus IS200 Manual

Hi All, I'm new to this forum, after scouring the classifieds on autotrader/pistonheads/gumtree I thought I'd try and put a wanted post out there after my poor choice in gumtree ad in my first post... I'm looking for a manual IS200, under £1,500 - ideally with as few miles as possible, FSH and cambelt to have been done at that price, but I am aware they particularly wear their mileage well. I'm based in Oxford and wouldn't mind travelling a little for the right car. If anyone is selling in the next month or so, or knows anyone that is, I would appreciate the feedback! Thanks, SpazaB

  12. Hi guys, I am getting mental with this stuff, so I hope somebody will be able to direct me to some solution. I got my IS200 2004 reg., about a year ago. Back then I changed all pads and discs to some new but cheap-ish stuff, different brand on the front, different at the back. I think at this moment I started to get steering wheel wobble when breaking from about 40-70mph. I did live with them for about 2 months but got annoyed, so changed all breaks and discs, this time I went for full set from Pagid. I realized immediately, that it did not sort out my wobble problem. After some time I decided to finally resolve the problem, took it to mechanic thinking that it might be faulty wheel alignment. Nope, all OK. They said it might be some dirt on front drive hub flange (if I undestood well). They cleaned one (front passenger side) and it was OK - wobble gone. For two days, then it came back. So now, should I assume that problem might be with those front drive hub flanges? Or maybe calipers, as they are the only part that wasn't changed? Let me add that I fitted set of 4 brand new tires and alloy wheels as well. Any ideas guys? Would really appreciate some help.
  13. It has been a while since my car was serviced so I did a few things. Changed air filter, oil and oil filter. Car runs lovely when first started and driven but if you stop and then restart (lets say for petrol) the car starts misfiring. Initially, it was cylinder 5 reported as misfiring, now it's 1,3 and 5 and a report of bank 2 running lean. I've swapped coils and plugs around but I still have the same problem. Is it just coincidence this has happened since "service" or can they be related.?

  15. So for the last few month I have been having problems with my 99' Lexus IS200. It seems that there was a problem with the alarm that has been setting is off at all hours of the morning. The only way I found around it was to leave my car unlocked over night, which wasn't very comforting. So I was reading around the forums for a fix but I couldn't find a clear solution for it. I found that it may be the motion sensor that was causing the problem but I couldn't find out if it could be disabled or how to disable it, so I went hunting. I decided that I would remove the roof lining and heat shrink all the wires as this may have been the problem. After pulling my entire roof apart I found that the motion sensor itself was inside the dome light and that it was as simple as unscrewing 3 screws and disconnecting a single harness. So if you are having the same problem try disconnecting it before you go ahead and waste a lot of time haha. I have only just disconnected the sensor so I'm not 100% sure if it is the problem but I'm certain that it is. I will post back in a few days telling you how I go. Disable motion sensor Time: 5 minutes Difficulty: Easy Motion sensor harness: The big circle is the motion sensor. The small circle is the harness to disconnect. Removing roof lining Time: 40 minutes Difficulty: Intermediate 1. Remove the A-pillar by gently pulling. 2. Remove the B-pillar by removing the seat belt cover, unbolt the 14mm seat belt bolt and gently pull the cover off. 3. Remove the C-pillar the same as the A-pillar. 4. Remove the map light by pulling down or prying it. 5. Remove dome light by removing the lens cover and unscrewing the 3 screws. 6. Remove rear-view mirror by prying the cover and removing the 2 screws. 7. Remove the sun visors by removing the 2 screws on the outer side, disconnect the harness and remove the screw holding the pivot point. 8. Remove the grab handles by removing the covers on the end of the handles and unbolt the 2 bolts on either end. 9. Remove the 2 push in clips near the rear window(sorry no pictures) 10. Remove the roof lining. The roof lining should now be completely free. The easiest way I found to get it out is by folding down the passengers seat and removing the liner through the rear passengers door. I hope this helps anyone who is having the same problem as me. If you have an questions feel free to post of pm me. If anyone is curious I may weigh some of the part for those wondering about weight stripping If you would like to see more photos click the link below: http://s839.photobucket.com/user/Matt_Shipman/library/Lexus%20IS200%20roof%20lining%20and%20alarm%20problem
  16. My exhaust is blowing really badly at the front. Also the join from the manifold to the center pipe is rotten away. So I'm going to cut behind the flange so I can remove the manifold and then remove the center pipe/cat. I found a used catalytic converter centre part on ebay and ordered a SS decat exhaust manifold. I'm assuming that the 2 cats on the header are pre-cats for emissions when cold and the center cat is the main one. In theory my car will still pass mot emissions as long as the center cat is warmed up? Anyone done this on their is200 and still pass emissions without cats on the manifold? Thanks
  17. IS200 tyre width

hello I currently have my car lowered by 30mm both front and rear and was wondering if i could go from a 215 45 17 91w to a 225 or any larger without having to modify the arches. Thank you
  18. (Introduction: I'm a Lexus IS200 owner from The Netherlands with few technical skills) For a few weeks now, I've been encountering misfire issues. Here's the pattern: - Engine runs smoothly on a cold start. - When it warms up there are misfires on cylinder 6 (P0306), - eventually followed by misfires on multiple cylinders (P0300, P0302, P0303) as well as the P0174 error code. Mechanic replaced coilpack and spark plug for the 6 (without actually making sure it was broken), yet the problem persisted. Then a compression test was run on the 6th cylinder and it passed. Since I don't want mechanics keep replacing expensive parts without actually have found the cause of the problem, I'm hoping for anyone here to understand the nature of the problem and point me in the right direction to solve it. Many thanks, Louis.

  20. Good evening all, my first post (but not my first visit) to this fine forum. I have recently bought myself an '03 IS200 Sport and am loving it....however, after a couple of weeks of no faults, Saturday the alarm started sounding about 15 seconds after I lock the car with the key fob and has done it since. I searched around on the forum and found that this could be caused by a number of things, one of which is due to low battery voltage. This leads me to speculate that my battery is slightly discharged. long story short, I've put footwell lights in and have been doing other minor modifications to the interior and have been leaving my door open for several hours at a time , I really should know better! Also, this morning I noticed my alternator fuse had been blown by the previous and they had bodge it back together with a picture hook! I replaced the fuse today after my internal electrics went dead but everything on the constant 12V feed was working. Everything is back to usual and I assumed that the battery would charge back up to its previous level on my way home from work, about a half hour drive. When I got home I reluctantly locked the car with the fob and about a minute later the alarm went off. I have also read that there could be a fault with the internal motion sensor in the dome light but, as I said, the alarm only started going off on Saturday and hadn't given me any trouble which leads me to my first theory. Basically, is there anything else that could be causing my alarm to go off when I lock the car? I checked the voltage and current draw on the (new) battery and it's all normal so could it just need a quick top up of juice? Sorry for the length of this novel! Any help or insight into this would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks J
