  1. Hi all, Has anyone bought a SAT NAV update from this place? Seems to get good reviews etc and loads cheaper than getting it form ebay. Also like some other copies you dont need to disconnect the battery as part of install. https://satnavstore.com/
  2. I thought it may be useful for all Forum members with or contemplating Premium Nav to outline my experiences with it over the past month - as I seem to have encountered most of the problems but also some of the solutions. Fundamentally, Premium Nav adds an Internet capacity to your satnav. This enables it to pick up traffic conditions (and offer alternative routes), note parking options in cities, allow online searches (which will provide phone numbers as well as navigations options) and send journeys from your phone/tablet/computer to your car in advance. (It adds a few more things too, like an advanced reverse camera and DVD player, but they're not relevant here. For the record, it also adds the capacity to save a journey to a USB and transfer this to the car that way.) The first thing is you need to register with MyLexus. Previously there was a Lexus Portal, but this has been replaced. However, the fact is there has been significant confusion over this. NOTE 1: Your sign-in name (an email address with MyLexus) is *not* your User ID. Your User ID by default will be the first part of your email address, but you are wise to change this as it may clash with others (or just cause confusion with past portal registrations). You change it my going to "My Details" and "Edit" and it is at the bottom. Once you have registered you need to register your Multimedia device. This is a 16-digit number (to be typed in without hyphens, even though they appear on the screen). I found it easier to do this online than in the car, though both are options. You also need to verify the vehicle. For this you need a six-figure number from your logbook (like ABC12D) - this is a chore when you lease because you need to get a scan from Lexus Financial Services or the lease company; and even more of a chore when they lose the logbook... NOTE 2: If you cannot get this number, ask your dealer for the one they use for demonstrators. That seems to work. Now the key is to connect to the Internet. This can be tough, at least with an iPhone. NOTE 3: You need to have tethering on on the phone (Apple calls this "Personal Hotspot"; other companies use slightly different names). In theory you can connect for tethering via Bluetooth or WiFi. For some reason I cannot do the former with my NX (worked fine on my IS). The latter is a bizarre hit and miss and seems to require not only that the Personal Hotspot be on, but that the specific page be open. Weird. NOTE 4: This is where I get a little lost... Via Setup > Navigation there is a Connected Services menu which allows "Delete Username and Password" or "Change Username and Password". If you try the latter, you need your *User ID* (not the email address) and password. It may be worth keeping these short! You then click "Save" and that should simply save it - but if you are unlucky, it will go to connecting and a lovely error message. This means your tethering has broken down, your password is wrong, you've forgotten your User ID, MyLexus does not feel like working, or you've the wrong colour socks on today... If you get through this, try your luck with an Online Search on "Navigation > Destination". Here, you will go to "Connecting" but hopefully not for long. If you do, the above paragraph applies. If you don't, you're in business. NOTE 5: My success rate in currently about one in four... ALL TIPS WELCOME! :)
  3. Lexus still has not been able to locate my logbook so I was given another number today with which to verify my vehicle. From the MyLexus point of view, this appears to have worked. The car is deemed verified; it says it is connected to the multimedia; and I can send journeys to the car. Unfortunately once I get to the car it's another matter. Any attempt by any means of typing in my Lexus ID and password is met by a could not connect message, "ID=195". This has come up before on these forums but I reckon I am doing everything advised. Any further thoughts?
  4. Just to quick queries long-term owners may be able to answer. 1. When I set a destination on the satnav, on both my previous IS and my wife's CT, it was not necessary to click "Start" - after a short delay to allow you to add further destinations to the route, the navigation started anyway. However, it appears the NX requires this (and it cannot be done by voice control). Is this correct? Or is there a setting which allows this to be changed? 2. The boot is automatic (so far so good), but it has to close all the way before you can lock the car. As it takes a while, I can see this getting slightly irritating. Can this be set so the car is locked in advance of the boot closing?
  5. Navigation Disc

Hi all, Has anyone updated there factory SATNAV to the latest version? Without having to pay a fortune for the disc does anyone know where best to get hold of one?? kr
  6. Hi I've read through a post on this site from years ago and didn't get the information i was looking for. I have a 2016 Lexus IS300H Executive edition with satnav. I am trying to get mirror link to work, i have a comparable samsung model. Ive plugged the phone in and my phone screen says connected to mirror link device. The screen in the car does not have the option highlighted to start mirror link. Is it possible to resolve this somehow? or why its not working? Thanks this is my first post!
  7. hi guys posted this topic on another forum, think i got the wrong one ( new to doing this) i put an address in the nav ok but the voice instruction doesn't work, also the voice recognition has stopped working i would be very glad of some help. Brian
  8. Hi All! I am a recent proud owner for a 2003(53) plate Lexus LS430. I picked this car up fairly cheap after reading they were reliable and they seem very powerful and comfortable! Anyways there was just one small issue with the car when I got it, the SatNav doesn't work. It throws up the 'Please insert correct map disk' error. Now after some forum scouting and general Googling I found a guide on how to remove the SatNav disk and clean/check it. However it turns out there is no map disk in there at all! Further Googling got me to the Lexus site where you buy the Nav disks from and heres where I encountered the issue at hand. The site asks me to first of all select my current Navigation system, then enter my current part number. As I have no part I can't enter the number and also can't see what generation my system is, so I have no idea what to enter here. Any help would be vastly appreciated! The car is a late 2003(53) Facelift LS430. Cheers George
  9. Hi There, Had my IS300h Executive for 6 weeks now. No regrets on the car, the SatNav however is not great however. Does anyone know how whilst in a journey to a destination to search for POIs near the destination ? I could do this with my last car (Focus) and it's really handy for finding supermarkets, McDonalds etc near where I am going. Looked everywhere in the menus - can seem to find it ? TIA Andhy
  10. Hi Forum I am wondering if anyone can give me a bit of advice in respect to Satnav on the IS220d, i am thinking of upgrading to a 2009 model 220D but it does not have the satnav upgrade so i am wondering if i purchased this model is it possible to buy the satnav unit and just fit it or does this require a wiring loom on this model as well ? It is a really lovely car but i would really love to have a sat nav unit as well. Would appreciate any advice from anyone who has been there or maybe done this themselves Regards Mike.
  11. Hello, Does anyone know ... Do updated Satnav disks influence how the Satnav picture looks, or is it just the data that's more up to date? Regards.
  12. I got my new car today. Black S-line with add-on sat nav, rear sensors and one or two other add-ons. I'd wanted Sonic Titanium but they couldn't get in in time. Car replaced a superb Honda Accord Diesel which I'd had from new for 9 and a half years and averaged about 44mpg. The only part I ever put in it was an accelerator sensor, just the other day. I did 112000km in it. I chose the IS300h because of what I read of its Honda-like reliability and very high UK owner satisfaction. I live in Cork in Ireland. I had taken it for a short test drive before I bought it. Impressions: 1. Salesman, a top chap told me to read the instructions on the Satnav. Said it was complicated. Others had said the same. I worked it all out in about 10 minutes use myself without instructions. I thought that the data entry system with the wheel of letters was really slick. My car has the rotary wheel rather than the pad thing. I'm really pleased with that. I've used a Garmin for years and it wasn't the best. 2. Gearbox. I love it. There is a little lag before it picks up, as people say, but then there's plenty of poke. The hill-start is a new thing for me. Brilliant. I'd driven an automatic for a week once in Canada but not for years. I love this. 3. Seats very comfortable. Didn't get electric or heated ones as I had in the Honda. 4. Quiet. Honda about the same at motorway speeds but much noisier crawling etc. 5. MPG. On my first day about 50 miles or so, 43mpg. I'll learn to improve this. 6. The foot/handbrake. The pedal cannot be felt through my shoes or my wife's shoes. You just press down with your foot against the side of the well and it works it. 7. Entertainment system great. I've a USB memory stick plugged it and it works and I've several megabytes of music on my phone which the Bluetooth plays without problem. 8. The cruise control is better than the Honda's in that you can reset it. The Honda did have a trim for it so you could tweak it up and down, but if you braked, you had to set it again, the slow way. Lexus better. 9. I'd read a good bit of the instructions before getting the car. A help. 10. Am I glad I bought it? I think I chose really well!
  13. Does anyone here have SatNav disks for an RX300 SEL 2004, that are more up to date than the originals that they would like to sell?
  14. So am planning to install an aftermarket satnav on mine (i have a non-satnav 2002 lexus) I do have someone whos breaking a lexus and has the complete original sat nav in it but by reading most of this seems like it'll be really hard to install that? does anyone have a step by step on how to do it? i think i'm gna go for the sony one! and i still need to buy the housnig from somewhere. Any help would be appreciated :) Thanks
  15. Hi All Apologies if this has already been answered, but my trawl of the forum didn't yield any results. I have a 2004 RX300 with a GEN1 SatNav with some pretty old discs in it. I am looking at upgrading to the latest discs (2011 I believe) from http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/ I wondered if anyone had purchased these and if so could confirm: 1: If search by postcode only is facilitated with this - current setup is infuriating! 2: If the latest discs allow the SatNav to be used whilst the car is moving - I'm getting conflicting info from the web Thanks in advance and apologies if this has already been answered. Daniel
  16. Satnav Volume

As I was driving I had my satnav on and my Hi Fi up load. Each time the satnav gave directions I could not hear it over the music,I could not belive the music didnt automatically lower so that I could hear directions over the music like my Jaguar XF used to do. Does anyone know If this is an option to switch on that I may have missed.
  17. Hi, I hope someone can fill in some blanks for me as only recently bought this car. 2004 Is 200 sport UK model. The previous owner, for some reason, removed the sat nav. Then replaced it with the standard flip up parcel tray. I have a button by the gearstick saying TM but of course doesn't do anything, plus i have a cable that comes from under the dash and over the top, with a sensor at the end. Is that supposed to be there or is this something maybe left over if they had their own satnav in there instead? If so, can the wire be ripped out or will it affect anything? How much would it cost to have someone fit a 2nd had lexus nav back in? If i had lexus nav put back in, i prob wouldnt use it though(!) i am just thinking of the cars resale value, not that i plan to get rid of! Thanks
  18. I'm looking at buying a Lexus is200 but the only problem is that controller in the center is a small half size unit. Would it be possible to swap that out with the full size button type controller with ease? Is it a simple swap over the wires and that's it or more involved? It's a nightmare looking for my perfect lexus. What i'm trying to find is a Charcoal grey, Satnav, sport, very tidy no damage outside and tidy interior with 8+months MOT for £900 £1,000 if the car is perfect but means i need to wait an extra week to collect it. Why is it so hard to find the right car. Anyway back to the original question can it be done easy or not? Thanks James.
  19. Can anyone help please... Although I tend to use my phone as a satnav, I would update my system if the discs were cheap ( used/ebay? ). I have an RX300 and I know it's generation one. the numbers on my DVD are the 08664 are; 24121 and 70V311A Q. Do I simply find a newer 'generation 1' DVD, or is it more involved than that? I see various used Gen.1 DVD's on eBay ...

  22. Picked up my NX300h premier and was told that it was possible to include speed camera notification warning on the sat nav system. Anyone know how to set this up?
  23. Hi I'm new to Lexus ownership and only picked up my '03 IS300 SportCross yesterday. I know I'm going to have a few questions but I guess it's best to post each question separately. Looking forward to chatting with you all over the coming months. First issue - can't get the SatNav switched on and don't have a manual to go with it. It's the type that flips up on the top of the dash and says "GPS Voice Navigation System" on it. I can't even get it to flip up pressing the open/close button. Can anyone help me with a link to a user manual so i can at least read what it should do?! Thanks. William
  24. Hi guys and girls, I've had my IS300h Executive Edition for 1 month now and love the car! I will list the positives and criticisms on another post but my biggest bugbear is the satnav and how to set a destination. Firstly, this only applies to owners without the "mouse-pad" and have the wheel to input commands. Not sure what "mouse-pad" owners think of theirs and the speed of setting a destination? So, this is the steps I need to take to set my home destination (by far the easiest) and I'm reducing clicks here by starting from the Nav map screen, not from menu! 1) Click twice on wheel button to get to the nav options menu 2) Click once to access Destination 3) Click once to access Home - back to the Nav map screen with the stupid arrows... 4) Click once and an arrow is highlighted 5) Move wheel button around to get to the bottom corner and click Set (up to 3 "moves" 6) Click on Start.... Phew..... So, adding all these clicks and moves, it has taken 9 actions just to set my home destination! In other cars in the same category, it takes one click of a button if you set shortcuts up on the dash. SURELY Lexus must have had a human testing this rather than a robot as it is just so long-winded to do a simple operation. I have not even begun to go into setting a postcode, or even worse, setting an address using town and street... So, am I the only one with major grumblings on this or are you all so happy because I have been an idiot and not read the manual and there is a magic button I have not used to set the satnav to home? Please let it be the latter so that I don't have the urge to slit my wrists everytime I get in the car and have to setup the satnav... Thanks for listening to my mega moan. Hope you all have better experiences! Shady
  25. Hello, on the last couple of long trips, the Satnav on my 54 RX300 has started getting my position wrong. It varies from 100 yards to miles out. It is not an old maps/ new road issue. The problem is intermittent, it may play up for 5 minutes and then fix itself, or be several hours before recovering. Searching the web I found a link which gave instructions on how to reset the satnav which was essentially pull all the wires out and leave for one minute. Before I try that, I thought I would check on the forum and see if anyone here knew what the problem was and how to fix. The CD player packed up some years ago (Error 4 I think), so with the Satnav giving trouble perhaps it is time for a full entertainment system refresh. Does anyone know of someone in the Basildon/Southend area that can do an upgrade with a compatible system? Thank you, Gary
