  1. Hi there, liking for recommendations for a service garage or mechanic in the Hackney area. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. The car was serviced by previous owner at Lexus garage but it's too expensive to continue! Thx. N.
  2. Hi all My 05 GS300 will be needing a service soon, and the main stealers prices are ludicrous. I cant find a specialist Lexus indie in the Manchester area, so thought Id ask the group. Does anyone know of a garage in the South Manchester / Warrington areas who they'd recommend for servicing Lexuses (Lexi?) at reasonable prices? Cheers in advance Adam
  3. I have just collected my IS200D F Sport from the LEXUS dealer post warranty issues yesterday. There were several issues I had raised and I did have to have a meeting with the center principal and the service manager to get a satisfactory result regarding the issues I had raised after owning the vehicle for 7 days! Initially I wrote to Lexus and they refused to assist re the alloy wheel corrosion emanating from the wheel centers. After some debate Lexus & the dealer decided to replace the rims with refurbished "Pristine" branded rims. There were some paint issues on the bonnet, lacquer lifting. Repainted now and very well done/matched and at least some of the minor gravel rash has also now gone . Windscreen had been replaced sometime in the cars past and had been fitted out of square in the frame, it was not tinted nor acoustic, Replaced now with correct screen. Also the two screen pillar trims have been replaced as the clips were broken! Car had been dealer serviced/MOT'd just prior to my collection, Missed the air cleaner and cabin air filter as they were in a shocking state ! I replaced them but dealer contributed. This may seem pedantic, but, I thought it would be nice if the tyre valve caps were all the same, car arrived with two metal chrome, one plastic and one black metal. Replaced, by me! The dealer loaned us a CT200 Sport for a week and has honoured the agreement and met expectations right down to a full valet. In essence Lexus and the dealer have redeemed themselves ,even if I did have to drive 200 miles in three round trips to get it all sorted. Attention to detail on used vehicle preparation was the key factor here. Interested to hear how other members may have experienced similar issues and how their dealers/Lexus responded.
  4. Anyone had dealings with Lexus Bolton service department, my 400h is coming up for its 100k+ service, I've heard of people ending up with huge bills because the car is not as it was off the assembly line. Also are Toyota up to the task of this type of service, I have a dealership just around the corner.
  5. Hello, Can anyone guide me please? My beloved RX300 is coming up for its next full service and MOT. I know the engine oil will be changed and I had the transmission fluid changed this year. But, can anyone advise about the gearbox/diff oil, front/rear? I'm not even sure if they exist, so an insight from someone here would be much appreciated! Regards, Piers.
  6. Not sure if this is under correct category but im new here. Basically i used to average around 17 mpg in the city, which was slow start/stop driving. I would get 40 miles out of £10 petrol. I then got timing belt/fan belt kit replaced, new water pump, idlers etc and a full service. I now get 40 miles out of £15 and have done around 70/80 miles since having the work done. I've read a lot of conflicting information, some people saying garage may have knocked a few sensors etc out of alignment or spark plugs may be loose. However also heard that apparently as battery would have been disconnected this resets the ECU and the car will have poor mpg until it re-learns my driving habits etc. One thing i noticed soon as i picked the car up was when i started it there was a split second clunk noise which sounded like it came from under drivers side at front of car. However only happens occasionally and as usual didn't happen when i told the mechanic. Not sure if related in any way. I doubt it is the o2 sensors etc as some people have said on other forums because it was immediately after i picked the car up. Also i always fuel up as soon as the petrol light comes on however when i picked the car up and put petrol in it barely budget above the limit when the light comes on. Therefore im guessing the garage must have really drained the fuel tank so i dont know if this maybe affects the ecu in any way because i know that is bad for the fuel pump. Dont know why they would have done that as i left plenty of fuel in the car for them. Any advice is appreciated because i dont really know what to do
  7. My RX is booked into Lexus for an Intermediate service next month ( and MOT ). Gosh, it's an expensive oil change - and not much more ...!
  8. Hi, I just had my IS in for a service and the garage (pretty decent and also have a good rep) were unable to change my fuel filter, they said that probably only lexus would be able to do it, is this right? Cheers
  9. Hi guys My 2009 GS450H is due a 60,000 miles major service. I think it needs brake pads or discs replacing as well because it makes a noise when im reversing or braking. It needs a MOT as well. The 60K service is quite expensive at the dealership, approximately £600 + all the extras. My question is whether it would be possible to do this service at an independent specialist and if so where is the best Lexus indy in the west midlands (Birmingham/Coventry area). What kind of savings can i make. Thanks I
  10. Just had my air con serviced - took about an 1 1/4 hours. Fascinating to watch how it's done. And now feel ready for the Summer. ( Richard Bell from AutoAirCon did it - really pleased with his time keeping, attitude and price )
  11. Anyone had their RX serviced at Lexus MK (Milton Keynes)? If you have, how was it? Would you recommend? :)
  12. Hi there Just bought 6 years old is220d, dealer promised me to do full service but in doubt anything been done rond my car, as find there no air filer been changed and wheel adjustment not done . What supposed to be done in service to 6 years old is220d with 50000 mileage just gone? Please help
  14. Hi How does the CT200h perform on reliability and cost of ownership after 100k miles? Is there any ct200h owner who has done over 100k miles here? What are the parts that may need replacement around 100K mark (apart from regular service & hybrid coolant)? My ct200h has had replacement for tyres, brake pads & discs, wipers already at 73K. I do 20K miles per year. So, it a sensible idea sell it around the 95+K mark? or is it worth continuing further? Also, do we have any lexuscare essential service plans for ct200h? I can not see any plans online for Ct200h. So, I thought I will ask the owners themselves Thanks, Sunil
  15. hello i am considering which Essential service to go for on my 07 RX400h and i can see on the Essential Major service sheet on the website, it says they change the brake fluid which on the Minor service they dont. I was wondering, as in all the cars i have ever owned through the years i have never had the brake fluid changed. Not even in the old Lexus IS200 that i had for 8 years was it ever changed. Is it worth having the extra level of service for this? many thanks Jason
  16. Hi guys! Bought a CT on the weekend :D will be picking up soon I was given a quotation for servicing for around £750 which will cover the next 2 minor and 1 major services. Is this product worth it? Would appreciate opinions. Regards Jas
  17. Hi everyone I have just bought a low mileage (24k miles) IS250 SE-L on a 08 plate from a non Lexus dealer. Very pleased with the car so far. After 4 Lexus services the car had 2 non franchise services and certainly not the 6 year major . Lexus have offered to welcome it back into the fold with: A 2 year Essential Careplan covering 2 services and 2 MOTs for £550A 2 year Lexus Extended Warranty for £795In addition they initially suggested a major service as car is 6 years old but I balked at over £700! They have now suggested that I can have the plugs done on top of a careplan service for an extra £200 Balancing all this against a quote from a well respected independant of £295 for a major. I'm thinking getting back on warranty makes it worth going for the Lexus careplan Would welcome members' thoughts Thanks Al
  18. HI all - new to the forum so apologies if this is already on here ! I am looking for a service schedule for my 2009 RX450h - just at 60,000 miles so want to check what should be done ie the full list of works. Cheers all.
  19. My 07 RX-350 is just coming up for its 50,000 mile service, the dealer has informed me this is a big service! I'm not sure what that means other than the price - around £750. I was wondering what other RX-350 RX-400 owners experience was or what was meant by a big service - it is needed all day
  20. Hi all i was hoping someone on here could tell me exactly what is done on a 60000 mile service on an IS250
  21. Hi Everyone, Just thought I'd mention I have just had a minor service on my car and my MPG has rocketed! Before I was getting an average of 33 - 37 mpg to and from work (city and motorway). Since having the car back I am getting 42 - 46 mpg! I really think on a long run it will do 50 - 55 mpg! The Toyota dealer that did the service mentioned that the air filter was completely clogged up, the car could barely breathe, which is probably why I had inconsistent idling too! So, might be worth looking at your air boxes and just checking how clean they are, maybe it'll get you a few more mpg! Cheers
  22. hey. I did a service on my car is200 with 92,000miles. i changed the oil, oil filter and spark plugs. engine still seems to run fine and reving normaly and doesnt seem to be down on power. but the engine management light has come on any body any ideas?
  23. Gs450H Warranty Claim

Hi all, I bought a GS450h from a dealer in April. It came with a one year warranty. When I first bought the car it would pull to the left. I took it back to the dealer and was told by the mechanic that it was a characteristic of the car. Kwik Fit then informed me that the tracking and camber were out. I recently had the car serviced from a toyota garage because it was closer and easier to travel to. The servicing report pointed out an oil leak. It is a slow seeping of oil from a seal. I contacted my Lexus dealer and they informed me that I will have to pay an £85 diagnostic charge. Is this normal practice? Bought a Car from Audi out of their bargain basement and they authorised over £2500 worth of repairs including a courtesy car. Feel a bit let down. Thought Lexus would offer better service.
  24. I just bought my lexus few days ago. I wanted to change the oil in the engine, but previous owner dont know what oil did the service station put in. I know that it suppose to be 5w30, but my engine has 127000 miles at the moment, so I dont want to risk it. If I will put semi synthetic 10w40 Valvoline maxlife oil for the engines with higher millage. Would that damage the engine? thx
  25. Charlesworth Motors Uk

Dear fellow-enthusiasts, "I have an IS 220d (2006) with approx. 65K on it and it recently started to develop a squeaky noise, while pressing and depressing the clutch, the shifting seems flawless and there is no noticeable difference in driving, apart from the noise, which is a bit of a nuisance, when standing at a light and shifting into Neutral or 1st and making people's heads turn..." After various responds to my problem with suggestions, which made my stomach and my wallet turn upside down, I went with the worst expectation and here's a follow-up of my visit to a garage, which I found on the Owner's Club Forum. "Basically, the squeaky noise was coming from the operating arm that drives into a so called cup to operate the clutch, it needed greasing on both ends. Gearbox, clutch and flywheel were all perfectly fine." GBP 16,77 (incl. changing of the front vipers) So for now everything's perfectly fine *knockonwood* Here's the garage's link, if you live close by, it's definitely worth driving out, friendly staff and straight to the point service - no BS (excuse my French). Make sure you ask for Steve. Drive safely, Cheers.
