  1. Hi I have an 07 plate is220d which to be fair has had very little problems. A month ago it was sluggish, to the point of dangerous, pulling away in 1st gear. Then the VSC light came on and the AA said blocked DPF. I had the DPF chemically cleaned but still sluggish. I had the EGR cleaned and the inlet manifold, still sluggish, I even swapped the MAF sensor with a friend who has a Toyota, still useless. I then thought back to the old days and decided that if it was years ago I would have suspected a loose throttle cable or linkage, but this car is drive by wire. I decided that it might be a faulty or dirty accelerator potentiometer, I sprayed it with a good dose of electrical contact clener whilst pushing the pedal with my hand. I don't know whether this is a permanent cure, but I can honestly say the car runs better than it has done for years, the fuel consumption has improved only slightly but I can live with that. Give it a try it might work for you. Pluffy
  2. Under-powered Sc430?

Here is a mystery. I bought a red & white Sep 2006 SC430 with 28,000 miles to replace my black & tan Sep 2007 SC430 with 56,000 miles (which is now for sale). The black 2007 car with double the mileage is noticeably quicker in acceleration than the red 2006 car with half the mileage. This is so when comparing the two with the ECT off or on. I thought that the SC430 engine and transmission were identical in these two cars. What could be the explanation for this phenomenon?
  3. Hi All, I had my catalystic convertor replaced in February by Lexus for my 2006 IS220D, they also flushed my injectors at this time. The guy in the garage did say that in the future I may need my turbo replacing but was not an immediate job. Over the past 4 weeks I have been getting a juggering when quickly building up speed (i had this before the injectors were flushed) its not happened since February but then last night I was building up spped form trafic lights and then my power just disminished.... now in 2nd gear it takes a prolongeed period of time to get up to 30, its managable on normal roads but I could not take this on a motorway for instance. There are no management lights ..... Does this sound like a new turbo? (as I was quoted £3k from Lexus) but surley if the turbo is bust I would get a management light and I would had seen smoke etc ?? or do you think its the injectors? .... any help you can give is very valuable.... Thanks, Paul.
