I joined a couple of weeks ago, to get as much information from users about the RX400h as I could. I had seen a car that I liked in the local Lexus dealer, but never having driven a hybrid I was not sure what to expect. I was changing from a Jaguar XK Diesel, which was great on comfort and fuel economy, but having retired I was expecting, due to reduced mileage during the winter months, to have problems with the DPF.

The main requirement was the comfort and performance of the Jaguar, but with the advantage of 4X4 and SUV driving position.

Having read many posts on the RX forum I came to the conclusion that if I liked the car when I went for a test drive it should suit my lifestyle perfectly. Well I was very impressed with the car when I drove it and left a deposit. I collected the car two weeks ago, and decided to have a week in Devon as a test trip. On the journey down I managed 27.4mpg over 220 miles, which I thought was acceptable but not great, I read more comments on the forum and worked out how to use the cruise control from the manual, and achieved 32.8mpg on the return journey.

Having proved to myself that driving a hybrid properly has a great bearing on efficiency, I look forward to learning more as I go along.
