Question About Loss Of No Claims

Recommended Posts

I have three insurance policies, a caravan, campervan and my LS.

All have donkey's years no claim, until this year when I had a claim on my campervan policy, 100% my fault unfortunately.

My question is, does my claim on the one policy, affect my ncb on the others?

I have had a good quote on the Lexus from my existing insurers, Endsleigh, for £161, much to my surprise, maybe the penny has dropped that we aren't as gullible as we once were regarding loyalty.

I'll be ringing them though to declare my claim, and would like to be pre-armed as it were.

Cheers Steve, I hope you're right and it only affects my camper policy, but........

Unfortunately google is a bit vague on the subject, so I'll have to wait and see what they say I guess.

I'm not certain Michael, but it is my opinion that the NCD is specific to that particular policy and the vehicle insured there.

My wife is named as a driver on my policy and when she had a claim on her own policy, I declared it and it didn't affect the NCD on my policy.

I would be very surprised if it had a knock on effect to your other policies.

Thanks Steve, another encouraging post, fingers crossed you're right.

Insurance companies don't always knock all your NCB on the head because of a claim. I would be interested if anyone does know how much their premium is before they knock off the NCB discount as I haven't seen that figure for years. Mike.

Got home last night after a couple of weeks away, and my renewal for the camper was on the mat.

You were right Mike, I was pleasantly surprised at the small increase, now I just need to ring regarding my LS renewal, and I'll be a happy bunny, hopefully.
